Course Curriculum Overview :

The course carriculum is very well planned and structured and very relevent to the requirements of the students of each discipline. The foundation students has a common curriculum where as once you get into your discipline its different for each. The curriculum is very well structured that helps in building the required skill you need to have when you reach the industry. Since you are continuosly evaluated and given proper guidance and suggestion it provides room for constant improvisation and betterment of yourself and your works

Internships Opportunities :

The college doesnt provide any internship oppurtunity but rather has an industry connect team that helps you in sending and recomending you to various companies according to your works. The college has contacts accross the industry which helps or makes it easier for you to work or land on internships with companies of your wish

Fees and Financial Aid :

I am a b.des communication design student. To have got to study in here was one great oppurtunity. With the all the facilities provided here. The college has it lab, mac lab, weaving studio, and workshops, with seperate lecture halls and class room, basket ball courts, football court etc. The courses provided are for bachelors in textile design, communication design and industrial design. The fee structure is as follows: semester fees for |,||,|||,|V,V,V| Tution fee on semester basis : 1,14,700 Hostel fee on semester basis : 26,600 Mess fee on semester basis : 38,500 Total semester fee : 1,79,800 semester fee for V|| : 1,70,200 The college doesnt provide any scholorship or financial aid of its own. Student get scholarships or loans from outside. All students who are at the college are required to stay at the hostel and hence compulsorily pay the hostel and mess fee. The college is in a very rural locality which is one of its cons. There are all requires facilities and small town near by. But getting adjusted to live there is tad bit difficult at the beginning. There are cafeteria and design store inside the campus which provides us with required small stuffs

Campus Life :

The college celeberates every festival as students from all over the country are there. like new year, christmas, onam, diwali, halloween, navaratri, holi etc. There is also freshers and farewell. The college provides a huge library with humungous amount of design resources, advanced technology and easy acces to all of its students. The classrooms are well equiped with tables and chairs for each, airconditoned and has presentation screens. The college hosts a sports day and also has all required sports facilities. The college also has a variety of clubs like dance, film, cycling etc. All of this helps the students to build a sense of community and a home away from home

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel has all required facility, seperate beds, study tables, socketcs and shelves each and also has a balcony in each room. Also has seperate washrooms and shower stall on each floors. A washing machine and drinking water facility on each floors. The first year students get a 3 sharing room, 2nd year a 2 sharing and 3rd gets a single room all of are spacious and clean. The mess provides breakfast, lunch, evening tea snacks and dinner. The breakfast keeps changing each day from dosa, chole bhature , puri, aloo paratha, poha etc. Lunch menu is mostly rice and chappati with aloo and dal, soya, rajma and curd, pasta, chowmein etc. Dinner menu is chappati and rice with aloo, dal, egg, chicken. keeps rotating each day. The taste is very poor especially lunch and dinner

Admission :

I applied to NIFT, IIT and NID all 3 design colleges, i cleared all of their entrance exams. And chose NID as it met my career dreams and was also one of the most prestigious design college in india. Hence i knew it was the right choice for myself. The entrance exam consist of 2 rounds. The prelims which is a written exam where we are tested on our drawing skills, general knowledge, aptitude and arithematic skills. The 2 nd one is the mains which is a studio test where you are tested on you material handling, drawing, visual and auditary skills. The cuttofs keep changing each year. and its very difficult to get in as the no of seats are very limited.

Faculty :

There are only a very limited no of permenant faculties and at time its mostly visiting faculties. all of them are approachable. All of them are helpfull and guide us on our works and projects. The college doesnt follow an exam system rather its a semester wise jury system where you have to present the works of your entire semester to a panel consisting of an external and an internal jurer. along with that your are continuosly evaluated on the basis of each of your works in each courses through out the semester. Students who are regular with their works can clear all of this easily

Interview Experience :

There is no group discussion. It is prelims and mains. prelims being written exam where your tested mainly on your drawing skills, time management and also general knowledge, mental aptitude and arithematic skills. The mains is a studio test where you are judged on your material handling, time management and drawing skills.

Placement Experience:

Campus placements is a subject which has very varied answers depending on who we ask. There are placement rounds going on in the university and people do get placed but it is seldom. We are not given a good idea of how many companies visit or what is the average package offered. But the placement rounds begin from 4th year only. We get compulsory internships after the end of every even semester.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum could be updated. I think the first year courses are very basic and easy for design. They upgrade it a bit. The btech subjects that we had were very irrelevant. I don't think we will be using it in design in future.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Design is a field of creative ideas and thinking which influence me to go out of box and push my limit and do something different. The curriculum prepares me to use the creative part of my brain and creating solutions for real world problem through design.More improvement could be made in courses by integrating latest trends in field of design like Ar and Vr related. The exam for the courses are in two sections Theory and Practical. The Theory are pretty easy to moderate if u have attended the lecture and have idea about the subjects but the practical could be little difficult but with time there is improvement.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is fine for B.des, but to be honest CITK is an engineering college so, for design students the environment is not that top notch over here. But in overall it's all good especially the faculties here are the best even in comparison to the other departments of our college.

Remarks:

The environment is great. It's so pleasant and green. It's amazing to be a student here. The students are very friendly and kind. There is a vast variety of flora and fauna available. The only downside is that being away from main city, we don't get much attention.

For the most part it is definitely worth it to join IITG. From good placement records to being the most beautiful campus in India there's something for everyone here. Accessibility sometimes cause issue but other than that, it holds up the hype it got.

Entrance Preview:

JEE, AIR 4742 Chose branch, not college. For my rank, Design seemed to be a perfectly fitting branch for me, hence I chose to go for it over BITS CSE.

Admission:

After I filled my choices and once my seat was locked, I got a confirmation letter (Offer Letter) from IIT Guwahati, inviting me to attend the institute. On reaching here, a procedure was followed, where all the official documents were verified, and an orientation was carried, which gave a glimpse of the life here at IITG.

Remarks:

Our campus is bound to grow more as a new boys hostel is being built, and expansion of various departments is taking place. And there are a few very tall buildings built for reasons I don't know, maybe for phD scholars.
