The West Bengal Government has initiated the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme in WBJEE 2024. The scheme is implemented to assist deserving and worthy students from economically weaker backgrounds. The scheme is limited to students with extraordinary performance in WBJEE 2024, and those who seek admission to institutions offering Engineering courses.

As per the eligibility criteria, the students must be residents of West Bengal, with an annual family income of less than INR 2.50 lakhs. About 5% of seats are reserved for such eligible students. The waiver is only limited to the Tuition Fee, and other beneficiaries must be paid by the students.

What is TFW Scheme in WBJEE 2024?

The West Bengal government has introduced the WBJEE TFW Scheme in West Bengal, India. It was designed to give financial support to economically backward students so they may continue pursuing their academic objectives. Key points of the TFW are shown here

  • The plan eliminates obstacles caused by financial limitations.
  • It aids worthy and meritorious students in pursuing Engineering in their desired colleges.
  • As per the rules mandated by the AICTE, there will be 5% of seats reserved for students coming under the TFW scheme.
  • In this scheme, the government covers the whole cost of the tuition. The remaining costs must be paid by the student.

Who is Eligible for the TFW Quota?

TFW scheme is awarded to students who perform exceptionally well in WBJEE. The Government, through this scheme, cuts the tuition expenses from other expenses. The students will be called eligible for the scheme under the below-mentioned rules and regulations:

  • The student’s annual family income must be less than 2.50 lakhs
  • The student must be a citizen of West Bengal
  • It is required to have a domicile certificate in order to be admitted and get counselling

What are the Documents Required for TFW Scheme in WBJEE?

The required documents to avail the benefit of TFW are mentioned below.

  • It is required to have a domicile certificate in order to be admitted and get counselling.
  • An Annual Income Certificate must be submitted by the student as part of the admissions and counselling procedures.

Competent Authority for Issue of Income Certificate

Competent authorities for issue of income certificates for the students of rural regions are given below.

  • An officer of the State Govt. in the rank of Block Development Officer
  • Sub-Divisional Officer
  • Additional District Magistrate
  • District Magistrate
  • Group 'A' Officer or Gazetted Officers of similar Rank or higher of State or Central Govt. Competent authority for issuing an annual income certificate for the students of urban regions is as mentioned below.
    1. Assistant Commissioner or above in Municipal Corporation.
    2. Group "A" Gazetted Officer of State or Central Govt. of similar rank or above.

Note: Income certificates will be considered invalid if issued by any elected people’s representative such as Municipal Commissioner, Councillor of Municipal Corporation/Municipality, Member of a three-tier Panchayat system or GTA, MLA or MP.

WBJEE TFW Registration Process

How to Register for TFW in WBJEE?

To avail the WBJEE TFW Scheme, one has to register in the chosen institution by filling WBJEE 2024 exam form.

  • Candidates must select the TFW category at the time of registration.
  • A rank will be published along with the grade card along with the GMR rank in WBJEE 2024
  • The documents are then verified
  • After the verification process, students will be allotted the Tuition Fee Waiver to reserve a seat to avail the benefits.

What is the Selection Process for TFW in WBJEE 2024?

The selection of candidates under the TFW scheme shall be decided based on the performance in WBJEE 2024. About 5% of the seats will be reserved for the selected candidates in colleges for the Engineering courses.
