Dr. Sajad Hussain is the Principal of the SSM College of Engineering. He is from Mechanical Engineering background and currently working at SSMCE for 4 years. He has an overall teaching experience of 18 years. Previously, Dr. Hussain was associated with IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur and National Aerospace Laboratory Bangalore.

I always keep in touch with individuals in the education industry. Factors such as the latest industry trends on education curriculum attracts me with the education sector. Most of my mentors are working in reputed organizations at good positions. 

How does the curriculum of SSM College of Engineering ensure the best practice of industry?

“Research projects, guest lectures and other academic activities are provided to pupils”

Our campus gives research projects and guest lecture sessions for students. All infrastructure for faculties and students are available on campus. Dedicated management contributes for students' betterment in all academic functions. 

What is your leadership philosophy?

Our leadership philosophy is to listen to everyone and decentralize powers. Our faculties are well experienced and dedicated. Everyone gets a chance to contribute through leadership. For protecting basic values and principles, the principal has the main responsibility. We consider future plans, vision and mission of the campus. All departments in campus work in coordination and practice the motto education par excellence. We organize academic and administrative activities to achieve campus vision.

How do you strategize the key programs for the marketing and administration of campus?

“Provide awareness of admission through counseling sessions and with other social platforms”

Several challenges faced by us after covid period especially for admission. Board of Professional Entrance Examinations agency assists in selecting students admitted to the J & K State Government. Our campus takes the names of students who fall into the list of BoPEE. We give awareness about admission through counseling sessions and other social platforms. 

How does your college welcome students of different economic backgrounds?

“Provide tuition fee schemes, and scholarships for considered students”

Our campus gives hostel facilities for both girls, boys and bus services. Most students in campus are from srinagar, baramulla and other areas. We provide tuition fee schemes, and scholarships for economically backward students. Hence, all students are welcome warmly on campus. 

What is the top priority of SSM College of Engineering over the next 10 years?

“To get autonomous status and provide 100% placement for students”

Our campus is recently affiliated with Kashmir university. We decided to get autonomous status and 100% placement for students. So, students will receive a high quality education. We also invest in infrastructure and try to focus on good faculty recruitment. 

What is the greatest strength of SSM College of Engineering?

“Highly qualified professors and updates with the latest trends for students”

One of the biggest positive parts is adaptable infrastructure for pupils. Another greatest strength of campus is highly qualified professors. Most faculties are from reputed institutes and we update with the latest trends for students. Ans-Infrastructure is one of our biggest positives because our institute is very spacious and constructed well. Second, our faculty is highly qualified, experienced and updated with the latest trends. Most of our faculty is from reputed institutes.

Most students go for administrative jobs due to lack of scope in the engineering field. It is the common thought that exists in the minds of students. My advice for students is to think out of the box for your career goal and become an entrepreneur. This helps you to succeed in your life.
