Kashmir University and NIF Jointly Hosted Workshop to Foster Creativity in J-K

New Delhi: The Kashmir University and National Innovation Foundation (NIF) recently organised a workshop aimed at amplifying the spirit of innovation among the youth of Jammu & Kashmir (J-K) on November 08, 2023.

The workshop, held jointly by Kashmir University and NIF, brought together bright minds, aspiring innovators, and seasoned experts to deliberate on various facets of innovation, ideation, and entrepreneurial endeavours. 

Key Highlights of Kashmir University and NIF Joint Workshop

During the roundtable conference named 'Inclusive Development through Entrepreneurial Advancement (IDEA),' industry leaders, academicians, and various stakeholders engaged in discussions concerning strategies for enhancing growth and development. 

Their focus encompassed unlocking the potential of the youth in Jammu and Kashmir, addressing challenges, and drawing lessons from significant milestones achieved.

According to NIF Chief Scientist Vipin Kumar, “The time has come when entrepreneurs with the support of ecosystem builders can push their boundaries to grow exponentially and, in this process, could harness their own potential in superior ways.”

Attendees, including innovators and entrepreneurs, highlighted their achievements at the conference while addressing the challenges associated with scaling their businesses. Additionally, they conveyed their expectations from the government, particularly in terms of improving the ease of doing business.

Proposal Discussed

The roundtable discussions yielded crucial insights, emphasising an increased emphasis on awareness, financial literacy, capacity building, utilising data-driven insights, and conducting activities to raise youth awareness. 

Stakeholders also explored innovative equity-based financing models, disseminating information through case studies, mapping stakeholder expertise, and facilitating mentoring in critical areas.

Nisar Ahmad Mir, Registrar of Kashmir University, briefed the attendees on recent notable initiatives implemented by the institution to bolster innovation in the valley. 

The participants comprised representatives from DST, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), Amazon India, Press Information Bureau, and Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI).
