Dr. R. Ramesh is the Principal of Tagore Engineering College. He has over 22 years of experience in teaching and 15 years of research experience. He obtained his PhD in the area of Digital Signal Processing from SRM University and completed his master’s and undergraduate degrees from Madurai Kamaraj University. Dr. R. Ramesh has published 62 papers in international journals and presented around 18 papers at various national and international conferences. He holds two patents to his name and is a recognised Anna University research supervisor. Dr. Ramesh has guided around 70 postgraduate students, and seven scholars have successfully completed their PhD under his valuable guidance.

My purpose is to take advantage of this valuable opportunity and make a contribution to the future generation. My consistent attempts and perseverance have made me academically successful. I have made a commitment to continuously mastering, upward mobility and staying abreast of modern traits, which are key elements in my growth as an expert.

Being the Principal of Tagore Engineering College, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
I would describe my leadership style as highly democratic. I always strive to empower the students. I am not a strict leader since I am open to accepting, reviewing, and providing appropriate guidelines for all actions. In such a working environment, everyone learns from one another, and the entire department grows under my direction. In my opinion, in an organisation of this size, with so many staff reporting to me, empowering people and allowing them to make decisions on their own wherever possible is essential. It is my responsibility to ensure that every employee understands and values their perspectives. My teamwork, team spirit, and adjusting and understanding everything with humanity and concern are the characteristics of my leadership.

Being the Principal of Tagore Engineering College, how do you strategize about the key
programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?
My techniques are prioritising primary and secondary tasks according to the schedule and set agenda. When it comes to manifestation, I will focus on showing our resources and best outputs for the institution's progress. As everyone knows, social media is one of the most effective forms of advertising. Meaningful social media ads offer a choice of ad formats to play with and promote our institution’s potential weightage. Furthermore, families spend a lot of time on social media, so this is a sensible and cost-effective strategy to raise awareness and eventually increase enrolment.
What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the instructions and the students are?
My roles and responsibilities include appropriate planning and execution of plans and promoting the learning of new innovative concepts. I also look over the mentoring, monitoring, and evaluating the performance of instructors and students. In addition, we provide students with a stimulating environment in which to learn without stress. We’re also making them more devoted, advising and assigning new projects and tasks for their self-assessment.
What do you think should be the college’s top priority over the next ten years?
I believe the college must continue to provide a high-quality education in today’s competitive world. It must also work to ensure long-term, sustainable programs to support their knowledge for both survival and economic progress. We allow students and teachers to go beyond geographical boundaries to discover new ideas. The college’s objective must be to give them opportunities to become more independent while also being appreciated and embraced by all nationalities. Institutions and universities should prioritise quality learning practices, skill development, and flexible courses for integrated and multitasking employability.
What do you see as Tagore Engineering College’s greatest strengths?
Our greatest strength is to provide a good learning environment for all types of learners and treat them well. Give attention to their goals and morally support them in all of their endeavours. Even after they have completed their degree, we consider them family. We market them as resource persons. We celebrate their accomplishments since they are our institution’s greatest qualities.
The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institution?
When students visit foreign nations, they are not involved in specific activities, but rather their hidden skills are cultivated. When it comes to our Indian educational system, we require students to choose a specific course and work tirelessly towards it. Our institution works in tandem, prioritising academics while also organising tall hunt shows to promote multitasking skills. We fill the gaps for incoming students.
Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?
In my opinion, cultural diversity improves college and university learning environments. They call it multiculturalism, where people from all over the world come to live, work and learn. Colleges and universities not only offer cultural diversity, they provide a unique environment for innovation, growth, and development. I believe that our university provides an appropriate environment for students from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our organisation provides a standard integrated educational path that can be adapted to people around the world.

When you first came to Tagore Engineering College, what was your vision for the university? Has it evolved over time, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?
My objective is to provide students with a high-quality education while also motivating them to pursue research interests and invent new ventures that benefit the community. During this period of my experience, I am striving to make it possible, and I have also accomplished and have a strong desire to pursue it throughout my life.
What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for Tagore Engineering College specifically?
The most significant issues we see for higher education, in general, are monitoring and educating students in all areas related to their academics. We also face challenges in training them on research procedures and preparing them for professional careers with the right skills.
What would you like people to know about your intuitions they may not know?
Our university is very student-friendly; they feel right at home. We have a proctoring system in place to assist students with their academic, personal, health, and hygiene needs. We train them mentally and morally, while also giving them the flexibility to be distinctive and original.
What are some plans that you’re currently (or will be) designing for Tagore Engineering College international affairs and/or students?
We help pupils increase their self-awareness. They are teaching kids about life’s meaning and purpose, as well as how to live a prosperous and ethical existence. Additionally, we are working on moulding them to make room for them to touch the oceans with their expanded principles and morals.
