Anna University PhD and MS by Research Program Eligibility Criteria

To apply for Anna University's PhD and MS by Research Program, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria listed below.

PhD Program Eligibility

  • A Master's Degree from the University, or any other qualification recognized as equivalent, in the fields of study declared by the University from time to time. Clause 2 of the Ph.D. Regulation 2025 specifies specific educational prerequisites.
  • In the qualifying examination, you must score at least 55% or have a CGPA of 5.5 on a 10-point scale.In the event of SC/ST/Person with Disability (with a disability score greater than 40%), 50% or a CGPA of 5.0 on a 10-point scale.

MS Research Eligibility

  • Bachelor's degree from a university or any other qualification recognized as equivalent in the fields of study notified by the university on a regular basis.
  • In the qualifying examination, you must score at least 55% or have a CGPA of 5.5 on a 10-point scale. In the case of SC/ST/Person with Disability (with a disability score greater than 40%), 50% marks or a CGPA of 5.0 on a 10-point scale.

Incomplete applications and applications containing misleading information in any way will be summarily rejected without notice to the candidate. Candidates having a valid GATE score or who have qualified for national-level tests such as NET will be excluded from the program's written examination. However, the marks gained in the national level test will be utilized instead of the written examination administered by the Centre for Research.
