Admit Card Release Delays
You might face delays in getting your admit card due to multiple reasons which include admin issues, change of dates etc.
2019 | Admit cards were usually issued in good time but candidates in some areas complained that it sometimes takes 3 — 5 days depending on some administrative constraints |
---|---|
2020 | The pandemic has led to many changes, with the biggest impact expressed through increased delays. The examination was rescheduled twice, and the admit card was released 20 days late, at most. Originally set for April 2020, the examination was first rescheduled to July and later to September. |
2021 | Similar problems, but at a larger scale, arose in the wake of this COVID-19 second wave. It’s cent percent that the first session was postponed multiple times leading to a delay of 10-15 days in the issuance of admit cards. |
2022–2024 | After the pandemic, the frequency of admit card releases went back to normal, but there were some minor hitches (5-7 days) due to technical problems at exam centers, but it was not frequently occurring. |
Cancellation of Exam Shifts or Centers
There are very few that have been reported to cancel the JEE Main exam. They found that cancellation and rescheduling cases constituted 0.1%–0.5% of JEE Main candidates in 2019–2024. Some of the reasons for cancellation over the years are:
- 2019: Very few cancellations. Several centers experienced some difficulties (e.g., use of computers), and the problems impacted a relatively small number of people. These were rearranged with good communication plans in place.
- 2020–2021: Due to the pandemic, NTA had to cancel particular shifts in certain centers if there were issues concerning COVID or other administration. A few shifts in centers of major examination cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru were called off due to technical issues and some cases of proctor malpractice in some examination sessions. About 50,000 candidates out of 10 million claimed they had had their examinations canceled or rescheduled due to operational reasons.
- 2022–2024: The cancelations were fewer in number after the pandemic, and a new mechanism was set up by NTA to track exam centers as well as technology effectively. Less of a problem, if reported at all, were the ones concerning examination irregularities rather than mass-center cancellation. Traveling problems or other technical issues only affected roughly 0.1 percent or 10000 candidates or fewer were rescheduled.

Changes in NTA JEE Admit Card Details
The alteration of the JEE Main NTA NIC in admit card is a result of mistakes made by the applicant. The NTA started an option for the candidates to change some details in the admit card in the year 2020. This was widely used in 2020–2021 because of the high throughput and errors in the biometric data of applicants. About 2% to 4% of candidates were affected in the previous year of 2020-2021, but in the years 2022-2024, the same affected only <1 percent of candidates because of the changes to the system.
- Common Errors in JEE Entrance Exam Admit Card:
- Typos in name and DOB and wrong exam center details were singled out as the most frequently mentioned type of mistake, especially during the 2019–2020 academic year.
- This was attributed to massive registration and correction rushes throughout the year 2021, so many students encountered problems such as mismatch of the photo ID details on the admit card.
- Data from 2020: Approximately 3%– 4% of candidates complained of admit card mistakes mostly with respect to photo ID or personal details.
- Shift Changes Post-Release:
- Sometimes there were changes in the exam shift or center after the JEE entrance exam admit card had been released. For instance, in the calendar year 2021, the shift of shifts affected less than 1% of the candidates, while the resultant confusion arose, most notably, among those who may have made travel arrangements for the said change.
JEE Main Admit Card Download & Security Measures
In 2020, to avoid fake and counterfeit JEE admit card download, NTA included QR codes and watermarks on them. From 2022, fingerprint scanners used for biometric authentication for the examination centers. Candidates can face issues in downloading admit cards to 1–2% in the 2021 – 2022 academic year, and major problems solved through the NTAs support system.
- Most of the candidates were able to download their admit cards without any problem but the candidates from rural or remote areas complained of problems as their internet connection in their area was slow.
- Data from 2021–2022: About 1–2% of the candidates complained about downloads and the majority of them are from rural areas. For instance, during the early months, instead of physically attending the sales office to make payments, one could do so using their phones through SMS/email support that was facilitated by NTA.
