What is Marks vs Percentile in JEE Main Result 2025?
You will get your JEE Main marks and percentile on your scorecard, however, it is important to understand the difference between the marks and percentile. JEE Main marks are the actual marks scored by a candidate out of 300, whereas, JEE Main percentile indicates your relative performance as compared to other candidates who took the exam.
NTA uses a score normalization formula to normalize the marks of candidates across different shifts. This is done to ensure no partiality is done with any candidate as the difficulty level varies for each shift.
After the normalized marks are calculated, a candidate’s percentile and rank are determined based on those marks. We have created a detailed article on JEE Main Marks vs Rank vs Percentile to help you understand the process completely. You may check the article link below.
Is 100 a good score in JEE Mains?
A score of 100 in JEE Mains can get you a percentile between 91-94 percentile depending on the shift and competition level. Ideally, a score above 200 is considered good in JEE Mains for B.Tech admission to the NITs, IIITs. With a score of 100, you may secure a rank between 60000-80000 and you can appear for JEE Advanced 2025 for IIT B.Tech admission.
Is 75 a good score in JEE Mains?
75 is not a very good score in JEE Mains for admission to the desired B.Tech courses in NITs/ IIITs/ GFTIs in India. 75 marks in JEE Mains is approximately 79-84 percentile depending on the competition level. A score of 200-250 is considered good in JEE Mains for getting a rank below 10000 and increase chances of admission to the top B.Tech colleges.
JEE Main 2025 Rank List
JEE Main 2025 rank list will be prepared based on the final result combining the results of both session 1 and 2. JEE Main final results are declared after the session 2 results. The final JEE Main Result 2024 includes the following details:
- Total scores obtained in JEE Main January/April attempt
- Best of the 2 JEE Main scores, in case candidate appears for both sessions
- JEE Main 2025 All India Rank
- Category of the Candidates
- JEE Main cut off for JEE Advanced 2025
Based on this final results, candidates are allotted category-specific ranks along with All India Rank in JEE Main.
We have briefly described the 4 steps involved in preparing JEE Main 2025 Rank List below:
- First, NTA divides the test-takers across both sessions equally.
- Then it calculates the raw scores of the test-takers using its marking scheme (+4 marks for correct answer and -1 for incorrect answer)
- Using the raw scores and normalization process, NTA calculates JEE Main percentile of the candidates.
- These percentile marks are used for the final preparation of JEE Main All India Rank list.
