What is JEE Main 2024 Marks?

JEE Main 2024 marks are the actual score out of 300 that a candidate gets in the exam. Each question in JEE Mains 2024 question paper carries a weightage of 4 marks while 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer.

How to calculate JEE Main 2024 Marks?

You can calculate your JEE marks using JEE Main 2024 answer key pdf. Once the response sheet and answer key has been released, you can use the formula below to calculate your JEE Main 2024 marks.

JEE Main 2024 Marks = (4 x Number of Correct Answers) – (1 x Number of Incorrect Answers)

Count the number of correct and incorrect answers in your JEE Main response sheet. Once done, use the formula above to get your actual marks in the exam.

What is JEE Main 2024 Percentile?

JEE Main percentile is the NTA score that represents the percentage of candidates who have scored equal to or less than the candidate in the exam. JEE Main percentile is calculated based on the score normalization process.

Since JEE Mains 2024 exam is conducted on multiple days in 2 shifts each day, it is obvious that the exam might be easier on some days and difficult on others. To make sure there are no disparities in JEE Main 2024 results due to appearance in a particular shift, NTA normalizes the scores across all shifts.

JEE Main 2024 Percentile Calculator Formula

To calculate JEE Main percentile, the following formula is used.

JEE Main 2024 Percentile Calculator Formula

For example, let’s assume, a candidate has got 200 marks in an exam where 1 lakh candidates appeared. 10,000 candidates have secured equal to less than 200 marks. The candidates’ percentile would be:

Percentile = (100 * 10,000) / 100,000 = 10

This means that 10% of the candidates scored less than or equal to this candidate.

What is JEE Main 2024 Rank?

JEE Main 2024 rank is the position of a candidate among all the candidates who took the exam. JEE Main rank is also known as All India Rank (AIR).

To calculate JEE Main rank, scores from different sessions are normalized using formula discussed above to remove the variations in difficulty level. After normalization, ranks are assigned to each candidate based on their normalized score. The candidate with the highest score gets Rank 1, the next highest gets Rank 2, and so on.

JEE Main 2024 Rank Predictor Formula

Let’s assume, a total of 8,23,967 candidates appeared for an exam session which is approx 8.23 lakh candidates. Let’s say a candidate got 99%ile in the first attempt. This means that the candidate is 1% ahead of 8.23 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam i.e., you are among top 1% JEE Main students and your rank will be above or around 8230.

JEE Main Rank= 1% of 8.23 lakh= 0.01 of 8.23 lakh = 8,230

● Top Answer By Shreshtha Tyagi on 24 May 24

First of all, congratulations on securing such an impressive rank in JEE Main 2024. I am a second year B.Tech IT student at DTU. 20,000 is a pretty good rank and it will open ample branch options for you, even more if you are a Delhi Candidate. I have mentioned below the previous year JEE MAIN cutoff for B.Tech admissions at DTU- JEE MAIN 2023 Cutoff for B.Tech admissions at DTU (General Category) Branch Non-Delhi Candidate Delhi Candidate B.Tech Computer Engineering 6,224 13,345 B.Tech Information Technology 8,047 16,364 B.Tech Software Engineering 10,742 19,967 B.Tech Mathematics and Computing 14,191 22,844 B.Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering 17,427 31,328 B.Tech Electrical Engineering 26,778 45,966 B.Tech Mechanical Engineering 34,761 58,304 B.Tech Engineering Physics 35,157 60,976 B.Tech Automotive Engineering 38,448 68,769 B.Tech Chemical Engineering 1,55,628 97,229 B.Tech Industrial & Production Engineering 1,67,573 99,535 B.Tech Civil Engineering 1,83,336 5,84,235 B.Tech Biotechnology 1,99,849 7,06,173 B.Tech Environmental Engineering 2,03,503 8,81,148 Unfortunately, a rank of 20,000 in JEE MAIN won’t fetch you a seat in Computer Engineering / IT / Software Engineering at DTU. You won’t get admission into Mathematics & Computing or ECE if you are a non-delhi candidate. But all the other branches will be most certainly open for you. In case you are a Delhi candidate, things will be even more in your favor. I hope you choose a good branch at DTU, and begin your journey at this esteemed engineering college....Read more
