Meghalaya MBBS Admission 2024: Application Form, Counselling, Merit List, Eligibility, Top Colleges

Meghalaya MBBS admission is conducted by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS). Meghalaya MBBS Admission is done only through the NEET entrance exam. Candidates must have a valid NEET Score to be eligible for Meghalaya MBBS Counselling.

The Meghalaya NEET counselling process to offer MBBS Admission 2024 begins after the NEET 2024 result and is conducted at a state level. NEIGRIHMS, Shillong is the conducting body for Meghalaya MBBS counselling. Round 1 of counselling was conducted between July 1 – 15, 2024. College reporting for the same was done till September 5, 2024 after the release of merit list on August 30, 2024. Round 2 counselling was started from September 19, 2024. NEIGRIHMS is expected to release the merit list for round 2 soon. 

The NEET Exam will be conducted on May 05 by the NTA and the results were declared on June 04,  2024.

Meghalaya MBBS Admission 2024: Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should meet the following eligibility criteria:-

  • Candidates applying for admission to the MBBS course must be permanent resident of the 8 North Eastern state.
  • The aspirant must have studied and completed their course in the preceding two years from the schools located in India. 
  • At the time of admission, the aspirant must have completed 17 years of age or will complete on or before December 31, 2024.
  • Candidates must have appeared for the NEET-UG 2024 and qualified for admission to MBBS. 

Meghalaya  MBBS Admission Form 2024

  • Candidates should visit the official website of NEIGRIHM.
  • They should click on the online application form for MBBS admission.
  • They have to first make an account using their credentials. 
  • Candidates are required to make payment beforehand on an external website to access the application form.
  • After the payment, they should fill the application form and upload required documents. 
  • They should submit the duly filled application form online.
  • They form submission, candidates can download the form acknowledgement slip.

Application Fee for Meghalaya MBBS Counselling 2024

The application processing fee for Meghalaya MBBS Counselling is INR 500. Candidates are required to pay the application fee to successfully submit their application form. Application forms without fee payment are not considered for further processing. The fee is non-refundable and has to be submitted through online methods. 

Meghalaya MBBS Admission 2024: Selection Process

  • Candidates are selected based on the NEET-UG 2024 qualified scores and percentile of marks calculated.
  • On the basis of the merit list, seat availability, eligibility criteria, and reservation criteria, admission to MBBS will be granted. 

Meghalaya MBBS Admission 2024: Counselling Process

  • Selected candidates will be called for counselling at the institute which will be held in offline mode.
  • Candidates selected for admission will undergo the medical examination at the Institute. 
  • Candidates must be present at the venue with all the required original documents.
  • Counselling for MBBS admission is conducted only on the basis of merit in the NEET-UG 2024 score and percentile.
  • Candidates admitted can join the classes on the commencement date of the classes.
  • Candidates failing to appear in the counselling should forfeit their admission claim and placement in the waiting list.

Ques. What is the fee structure for Meghalaya MBBS Admission?

Ans. The one-time fee payable at the time of admission is INR. 4,450. And, the annual fee for the MBBS course is INR. 1570.  

Ques. What happens if the candidate does not pass the medical examination?

Ans. If the candidate selected for admission does not pass the medical examination by a Medical Board consisting of Faculty members of the Institute, he/she will not be granted admission.

Ques. What is the bond that candidates have to sign at the time of admission?

Ans. All the selected candidates have to sign a bond on a requisite stamp paper at the time of admission. The bond states that if any candidate leaves the course before its completion shall have to pay the bond money of Rupees Ten Lakhs only.

Ques. Who will supervise the Meghalaya MBBS 2024 admissions?

Ans.  Admissions to MBBS courses in this state will be supervised by the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Meghalaya.

The marks required for securing a seat for MBBS at AIIMS Delhi vary each year depending on various factors such as the number of seats, the number of candidates appearing, the difficulty level of the exam, and the previous year's cutoffs.  To get a seat for MBBS at AIIMS Delhi, candidates from the general category must aim to score 710+ in NEET UG to be on the safer side for admission. You’ll also be paying a caution deposit of Rs.10,000 (refundable). Ans. The life of an MBBS student at JIPMER is quiet and tiring. Yet, they get to learn and experience new things every day. Their daily schedule looks like this  8 am to 11 am: Lectures 11 am to 1 pm: Anatomy dissection hours 1 pm to 2 pm: Lunch break 2 pm to 4:30 pm: Practicals In the evening some prefer playing basketball, football, hockey, table tennis, and badminton while others order just napping or hitting the gym. Some music lovers go to the band room to play out various symphonies and musicals. A few artist students spend their time participating or practicing for fine arts competitions. September brings in a huge crowd of students from different colleges attending Spandan. It’s a 7 day intercollegiate cultural literary and sports extravaganza that makes the monotonous life of JIPMER students a bit vibrant. October witnesses the Jipmer premier league ied teams of girls and boys. There is also Curie Day which is the annual girls' hostel day celebration. The hostel is open for boys as well and girls perform dance and sing. After all this enjoyment, the exams begin and students are reminded of their primary goal.  January is usually spent at home. In February, students go to Pune for the fest at AFMC -‘Silhouettes’. March brings in the tension of the annual university examinations and everybody can be seen surrounded by books. The seniors organize a wonderful Holi celebration- a cultural night followed by gulaal in the morning to ensure that students don’t succumb to the stress. Ans. One of my friends was in a similar dilemma. He considered the following points while making his decision  Most AIIMS undergraduates settle in the US or pursue higher education in top colleges in India while CMC graduates prefer CMC for their higher education only.  Students of CMC are required to do bonds in mission hospitals so their higher education gets delayed. But this instills in them a strong sense of community-oriented healthcare. They tend to work in remote places of India without any personal glory. An AIIMS student can hardly be seen doing community service. AIIMS graduates publish more when compared to CMC graduates. CMC students get better hands-on experience and hence fare better in terms of clinical and Surgical skills. Right from the second year, they start assisting postgraduates in clinical work.  If you are a non-Christian, it will be difficult to go through the entire training without a mission hospital Ultimately, make a choice based on your demographics, preferences, and goals in life. Read more
