Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2024: Counselling, Application Form, Registration Dates, Merit List, Top Colleges

Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2024 is conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Tamil Nadu. Admissions to the MBBS in Tamil Nadu are done based on the NEET scores and counselling rounds. 

Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling started after the announcement of NEET Results. The stray vacancy round of counselling is currently ongoing. The last date of choice filling is extended to October 29, 2024. Candidates can download the provisional allotment order from October 30 – November 5, 2024. The last date of college reporting is November 5, 2024.

NEET UG was conducted on May 5 2024 for all candidates seeking TN MBBS Admission. MBBS is an undergraduate program with a duration of 4 years and 6 months followed by a 1-year compulsory rotatory internship. This course is divided into 9 semesters in which students gain an overview of various MBBS subjects.

Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2024: Admission Criteria

The criteria for admission to Tamilnadu MBBS in the year 2024 are as follows.

Admission under 85% of State quota seats DME, Tamilnadu organizes allotment of seats under the 85% state quota for MBBS and BDS colleges
Admission to private colleges DME allot the private colleges according to the NEET scores
Admission to the central universities Three rounds of seat allotment are conducted by MCC

Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2024: Eligibility criteria

The basic Eligibility Criteria for getting admission to MBBS are determined by the authority. The following section cover the most important aspects that a candidate needs to keep in mind before getting themselves register for the MBSB admission.

  • Nationality: candidate must be an Indian citizen.
    • Domicile Candidate: The candidate must be a bona fide resident of TN.
    • Candidates who have completed their class 6 to 12 education from the state are not required to submit the nativity certificate. However, they have to submit their parent's birth certificate, ration card, SSLC/10/12 certificate, or no graduate certificate if their parents are illiterate.
    • Applications from other states living currently in Tamil Nadu are not considered under the domicile status and must take admitted in the open category.
    • Domiciles of Tamil Nadu who have completed their partial education from class 6 to 12th in another state must submit the important documents of their parents as mentioned above. A permanent residence certificate will not be accepted as an alternative to the nativity certificate.
  • Age Limit: Candidates must be 17 years old. The upper limit of age for NEET is 25 years for the general category and 30 years for SC ST and OBC.
  • Education: The candidate must have completed class 12th in the required subjects(PCB) with biotechnology and English as the main subjects from the state.
  • Marks: Unreserved category must have at least 50% in PCB while SC, ST and OBC students are required to obtain 40% in the required subjects in class 12.

Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2024: Application Form

  • Tamil Nadu MBBS application forms will be made available on the official website and candidates can apply for colleges in online mode. 
  • Filling out the application forms will not confirm participation in Tamil Nadu MBBS counselling 2024. Candidates will have to complete the document verification round successfully in order to ensure candidature.
  • They must fill out the application form with utmost care and upload the required documents. On payment of the application fee, the form will be successfully submitted. 

Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission Application Fees 2024

The application fee for the Tamil Nadu MBBS admission is INR 500 for all categories except SC, ST and SCA. It is for the government quota. Candidates applying through the management quota have to pay INR 1,000 as the application fees.

Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2024: Merit List

  • NEET 2024 score and ranks will be the main criteria while preparing the Tamil Nadu MBBS merit list 2024. The list comprises the rank of students in Tamil Nadu, category, admission number, registration number and their NEET score details. 
  • Names of only those candidates who successfully complete the document verification stage will feature in the Tamil Nadu MBBS merit list 2024. 
  • Candidates who have their names in the Tamil Nadu MBBS merit list will be eligible to fill choices in order to appear for counselling and seat allocation for medical colleges in the state.

  • In order to get their preferred colleges and courses, candidates will have to fill in their preferences once they have cleared the document verification round and their names appear in the Tamil Nadu MBBS merit list.
  • Seats will be allocated on the basis of availability as well and candidates will be alerted about the counselling procedure on their registered mobile numbers and email IDs.
  • Candidates are advised to carry the required documents and a few photocopies to take provisional admission on the basis of Tamil Nadu MBBS counselling 2024.

Some music lovers go to the band room to play out various symphonies and musicals. A few artist students spend their time participating or practicing for fine arts competitions. September brings in a huge crowd of students from different colleges attending Spandan. It’s a 7 day intercollegiate cultural literary and sports extravaganza that makes the monotonous life of JIPMER students a bit vibrant. October witnesses the Jipmer premier league ied teams of girls and boys. There is also Curie Day which is the annual girls' hostel day celebration. The hostel is open for boys as well and girls perform dance and sing. After all this enjoyment, the exams begin and students are reminded of their primary goal.  January is usually spent at home. In February, students go to Pune for the fest at AFMC -‘Silhouettes’. March brings in the tension of the annual university examinations and everybody can be seen surrounded by books. The seniors organize a wonderful Holi celebration- a cultural night followed by gulaal in the morning to ensure that students don’t succumb to the stress. Ans. One of my friends was in a similar dilemma. He considered the following points while making his decision  Most AIIMS undergraduates settle in the US or pursue higher education in top colleges in India while CMC graduates prefer CMC for their higher education only.  Students of CMC are required to do bonds in mission hospitals so their higher education gets delayed. But this instills in them a strong sense of community-oriented healthcare. They tend to work in remote places of India without any personal glory. An AIIMS student can hardly be seen doing community service. AIIMS graduates publish more when compared to CMC graduates. CMC students get better hands-on experience and hence fare better in terms of clinical and Surgical skills. Right from the second year, they start assisting postgraduates in clinical work.  If you are a non-Christian, it will be difficult to go through the entire training without a mission hospital Ultimately, make a choice based on your demographics, preferences, and goals in life. Read more
