UIET Chandigarh Events
- Goonj-2014: It is the National Level Annual Techno Literati Cultural Festival of the University.
- Aavishkar-2013: This event is the National Level Technical Fest of Panjab University, Chandigarh. This University provides platform to the students for showcasing their their talent and innovative ideas.
- National Conference on advances in Mechanical Engineering (NCAME-2013): It was organized by the mechanical students of UIET to bring together all the researchers and experts from industries and academia for sharing and creating awareness about the latest technologies coming.
- National Conclave: UIET organized its first National Conclave on ‘Science and Technology in India: Opportunities and Challanges’ with the objective to enrich the thought process of young community and guide them towards bright future.
- ICAER-2013: IEEE students branch organized a student conference said ‘IEEE Students Conference on Cognizance of Applied Engineering & Research’ encouraged the students to participate in research activities in research activities in their chosen fields.

One Week TEQIP– Short term Training Programme on Aspects and Applications of Research Methodology in Science and Engineering (AARMSE) being held from July 8 to July 13, 2013

UTECHNOS-it regulates functioning of all the official committees and student bodies, has done remarkable work.
Cultural Committees:
- POPKORNZ: It is the official dance club.
- Osmium: It is the theatre group.
Technical committees:
- IEEE: This committee is one of the largest and oldest existing professional organization of the world, found in 1884.
- SBE: It is the International organization that consist of an association formed by the biological engineers, for all new developments to look forward.
- SAE: SAE stands for Society of Automotive Engineers. It is a perfect platform for the budding mechanical engineers.
- CSI: Computer Society of India is encouraging students of CSE & IT to put their imagination into the field of software development and web developments.
UIET Chandigarh Facilities
Library: Institute has well-equipped library with well managed collection of the own research & publications of the institute. A. C. Joshi Library which is having collection of over 670,000 books and 660 periodicals is one of the largest in the country. The University Library is connected through an inflibnet network with all the departments on the campus which allows them to avail the Library’s online facilities.
Other facilities:
- A Conference Room which is fully equipped with Projector, LCD display & Address equipment is available for conferences & lectures.
- A 120 capacity air conditioned hall for holding presentations and interactive sessions.

So the admission procedure includes counselling in JAC Chandigarh. In order to get admission you have to secure 60% marks in class 12 and marksheet in Jee main. Not much of a effort is needed to land in this college. JEE main percentile above 90 can be sufficient to land in this college. I also try to do counselling in other colleges but due to 75% criteria got rejected.

- The infrastructure is lacking compared to the private universities.
- Coding culture is worse compared to IITs/NITs

I applied to some IIITs as well, but University Institute of Engineering and Technology felt a better choice compared to some lower/newer IIITs. The admissions are done through JEE Mains scores, on the JAC Chandigarh portal.

- There's no issue of attendance you can have a minimum of 10% attendance after this you can give final exam without any obligation
- The dance and drama club these are the most reputed clubs of our college
Dislikes
- There's no relative marking absolute marking is there so you have to score more to maintain your cgpa
- Mess food is not that good you have to either order it from Zomato or swiggy

According to my rank this college ece is the best choice for me. But you should have choice this because this college is competing with some the reputed college like PEC,NIT KUK,NIT JALANDHAR etc in every aspect weather it is sports, placement, fest and any other thing

- UIET is improvising in terms of placements, if you are worthy enough and have put efforts throughout, you will get placed easily. TPC is very responsible and understanding.
- Oxygen rich water coolers, library and reading halls are very good.
Dislikes
- Food Quality at Stuc and hostels and Canteen are not very good, there is a problem of proper cleanliness.
- UIET’s Campus is very small. 3 blocks and 1 canteen. You don’t get proper seating to have lunch.

I got admissions in CSE: UIET THDC-IHET IET Lucknow Various Private Colleges Various other colleges in different branches like ECE and Mech. I chose UIET: Amazon took 13 students from here, placements were good as compared to others. Chandigarh as a location is best. UIET is tier 1 because of PU. Heard positive reviews from different sources. I got rejection from JoSAA counselling because of my low JEE rank so didn't able to make it to IIITs or NITs. For admission at UIET: Apply in JAC Chandigarh counselling using JEE Score. Upload documents for verification and eligibility. Report physically for physical verification. You will be given admission letter. Cutoff during my time for cse was:15000-30000 AIR JEE Rank

I chose this college because its government so fee is less compared to private universities, its close to my house so i can commute easily and save hostel fee, and placements are better than private colleges

- We can attend all the fests as UIET student.
Dislikes
- Infrastructure is old of UIET but it's decently maintained.
- Classroom are also old without AC and smart board facilities

I had the option to go to IIIT Manipur, IIIT kalyani and IIIT Bhagalpur but I chose UIET over that cause of low fees , affordability and Placement. Infrastructure wise IIITs are good but ROI wise UIET was better

I got confirmed admission in Delhi University (DU) and Delhi Technological University (DTU) I was getting biotechnology and environmental engineering in DTU that's why I rejected that offer DU was offering me Btech in CSE but there was no hostel and also pg near University were the worst pgs that I ever saw. I would have also got NIT Surat Engineering Physics and Mechanical engineering but I had less than 75% so I wasn't eligible at the end

I chose this college beacuse of its beautiful campus and good exposure And its a governmw College ao have comaparativelg less fee than private college . Also i chose this over otherse because of my percentile

Admission process was from JAC chandigarh counselling according to the AIR rank in jee mains. And the 10th and 12th marks more that 60%. There are many categories if reservation like st sc obc. You have to fill your choice according to your rank and preference

Can a branch be upgraded in Thapar University Patiala and UIET Chandigarh on the basis of your first year CGPA?
At Thapar University, the branch change does not depend on your CGPA. There is a separate process for the same.
- The 1st year students have to give a December Test by the end of their 1st semester. The syllabus for this test is general class 12 PCM and the subjects covered in the 1st semester.
- A list ranking all the students appearing for this test is made. Based on this list, a counseling session is held to fill in the vacant seats in all the branches.
- In case of a tie, JEE Rank is given preference.
So, if you are desperate to get your branch changed at Thapar University, all you need to do is prepare well for this particular test.
