What Does the CBSE Class 12 Marking Scheme Explain?
The marking scheme provides suggested value points for answers and indicates which key facts, steps or concepts may earn marks. It is a guide for evaluating responses, not necessarily a single compulsory wording for every answer.
- Key answer points: Identify the facts, concepts or steps expected in a response.
- Step-wise scoring: For subjects involving calculations or derivations, check which working steps are credited in the official scheme.
- Answer structure: Understand how to present explanations, definitions, diagrams or calculations where relevant to the question.
- Self-assessment: Attempt the sample paper first, then compare your response with the marking scheme and note missing points.
Has CBSE Changed the Class 12 Marking Scheme for 2027?
CBSE has stated that there is no change in the question paper design or assessment pattern for the 2026–27 academic session. The passing criteria will also remain the same as those applicable in 2025–26.
How to Use the Marking Scheme to Prepare for CBSE Class 12 Exams?
- Attempt the sample paper under timed conditions. This helps you assess both accuracy and time management.
- Check answers using the official marking scheme. Do not only compare the final answer; review the required concepts and working steps.
- Maintain an error list. Record missing keywords, incorrect formulas, incomplete explanations and calculation errors.
- Practise weak question types again. Reattempt questions where you lost marks instead of only rereading the solution.
- Revise from the prescribed syllabus. Use the sample paper as a practice resource, not as a replacement for the complete syllabus.
