Hostel Facilities:

Hostel facility for first year is very good and for 2nd and 3rd year the hostel condition is worse this is all with respect to the boys but in the final year students enjoy a good hostel facility. For girls hostel facility is good comparative to boys.

A brief description over life in MNNIT

Hostel Facilities:

Hostels varies for every year. In 1st year students are provided a very good hostel accomodation which is three seater, while the quality of accomodation in 2nd year is average with fairly small double seater room. In third year onwards you get very good rooms. Food is almost similar for all years with slight increment in quality as the seniority progresses. However the overall experience is nice.

My experience in MNNIT

Hostel Facilities:

The hostel room provided in the first year is pretty spacious. Rooms in the second year gets a little cramped. You get single rooms from 3rd year onwards. The mess food is ok. Non vegetarians will be disappointed because there is no non veg food. The hostel is affordable, it costs 12000 a semester and the mess costs 25000 a semester.

In the first year hostel SVBH, we are provided a attached two room, one from bed and sleep and one from study. The managment provide three bed, three table, three chair also having 3 fan, 3 Almirah and a balkani too having a beatiful view.

Hostel Facilities:

In the first year, boys have hostel named swami vivekanand boys hostel in which all rooms are shared by 4 people. All basic facilities like 24hrs water supply, geysers ,showers are present. Bathrooms are cleaned everyday and rooms are also cleaned Twice a week by the workers. Hostels are quite affordable with fees of 12k per semester. In second and third years there are 2 sharing rooms known as patel hostel and tilak hostel.in the final year we have single sharing room known as new boys hostel.Mess food quality is quite great and in the menu we have paneer mix veg daal aloo chole litti chokha gulab jamun etc. the menu has enough variety.

Hostel Facilities:

Boys are provided a 3/4 sharing room in the 1st year and 2 sharing in 2nd year while single room from 3rd year onwards. The mess food is good , they provide breakfast , lunch , evening snacks and dinner . You have to fill a hostel form and fees of 25000(mess) + 12000(hostel) per semester. Hostel Facilities:

First year hostel is very nicely built and provides every needed facility to the students. Hostel rooms are big enough and there are 4 students in one room. There are 4 beds, 4 cupboards , 4 chair and tables in one room for 4 students. The quality of food in the mess is also average and they maintain the hygiene in the mess. Hostels are provided to the students at the time of their physical registration during the admission and it is also affordable because there are only 12000 thousand ruppees for one semester.

MNNIT hostel rooms are in good condition. Three students share a room. Each hostel room has a bedroom, a study room, and a balcony. Students are provided with beds, chairs, study tables, cupboards, and study lamps. The hostel has wifi facilities. 

The washrooms are common. Every floor has washrooms, at each corner. There are aqua guards and geysers on each floor as well. The hostels have common rooms. There are computer rooms with internet connection as well.

Could anybody throw some light on the hostel facilities for M.Tech students in MNNIT Allahabad?

After the admission of students in M.Tech at MNNIT Allahabad, the institute allows Raman Hostel for the first-year students, which is situated near Optron Chowk, 600m away from Patel gate of the institute. The points below give a brief overview of the hostel and the facilities provided by the institute in it.

  • The Raman Hostel has 3 floors and 100 rooms in total. There are 2 washrooms on each floor, situated diagonally opposite to each other.
  • The students in M.Tech and Ph.D. get access to a TV hall and a reading room. The TV hall is situated on the 2nd floor and the reading room is situated on the 1st floor.
  • They have two badminton courts, one on each side. But, on most days, there are cycles parked on the courts. A small park is also made as a common entity for the students of both Raman and Tagore hostels.
  • Tagore hostel has a canteen in the outer part of the hostel, which is available to all. In the Raman hostel, there is a small shop to carry on with basic needs like pen, copy, groceries, cold drinks, files, mobile recharge, etc.
  • There is 24-hour access to the hostel for students. But, students need to sign a register if they have to go out after 12 AM midnight.
  • The rooms in Raman hostel are good enough for 3 students each, but 4 students are accommodated in every room in the first year. There are 4 beds, a table, and a chair for students in each room. Other than that, each room has two fans and two light sockets, and 3 sets of LAN ports and wardrobes.
  • In the second semester, few students leave the institute for a job or other purposes. So, three students are allotted to each room from then.
  • Each washroom in Raman hostel has 5 bathrooms and 6 latrines of both kinds. There are 4 front wash basins too. No washing machine is provided in the hostel.
  • Coming to the second year of M.Tech, students are allotted a PG hostel which is near the Computer Science department. It has 2-seater rooms, but the rooms are slightly more congested than those in Raman Hostel.

This is the overall condition and facilities provided to M.Tech students in MNNIT Allahabad, which is quite decent with required facilities for students inside the campus.

How is the girls hostel at MNNIT Allahabad?

MNNIT Allhabad has two girls hostels. Students of B.Tech lives in Kamla Nehru Girla Hostel. The hostel is located in the colony area outside the Saraswati gate. 

MNNIT hostels for girls are two-seater. Although the rooms aren’t very spacious, after a while you will get used to them. The washrooms are hygienic and cleaned regularly. 

The mess food isn’t too bad. They offer 4 meals  - breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, and dinner.

There is no wifi, but each room has LAN connection. Usually, there is one LAN port, so you will have to share it with your roommate. 

The hostels are safe. There are security guards present at all times. The in-time for first-year girls is 8:30 pm while for second year onwards, the in-time is 9:30 pm. Extensions are given during fests. 

Other than the inconvenience of a few lizards and insects, the hostel facilities are pretty good.

One of my friends was a former student of this institute. He once told me that everyone always considers the window users at the hostel; thereby, he prioritized the Linux users not to face any internet-related issues.

  • My friend considers the conditions related to the proxy net, which is not the regular one. He mentioned that utilizing proxy settings basically changes the internet settings of “Fast Internet”.
  • The most important thing is that the college can monitor internet surfing; besides, they also limit your Internet usage.
  • However, DC++ settings were very ancient, and it was there approximately 3-4 years back. But as everything is now streamed online, thereby usage of DC has been drastically reduced.
  • It can be mentioned that there are approximately 8-10 proxy settings by which you can surf the internet. But the problem is that only one has no limits; however, it is not allowed in the hostel and the surrounding areas.
  • The Internet becomes slow during the evening time, that is from 7 pm to midnight. This institute provides a Squid proxy setting to its students, which is basically a visit more and gets easier. , if you visit one particular website daily, this setting will automatically allow you to visit the site, even at a low internet speed.

However, my friend was a gamer; he was not so interested in doing Facebook and YouTube. Thereby, he finds the following solutions:

  • You can use VPN.
  • It is better to use the internet at Night.
  • If you utilize college internet effectively, then it is important to know the basics of Putty. You can use other IP addresses on their computers or laptop.

It completely depends on your usage perspectives. However, most of the students do not think so deeply and remain constant to their understandings only.

What stuff do I need in the hostel of MNNIT Allahabad?

The answer is a bit subjective because you need to carry the things that are important to you. But as far as basic necessities are concerned, here’s a list of them-

  1. Clothes for the hostel and the college.
  2. Some homemade snacks. The hostel canteen’s food may not be to your liking, and its timings may not match yours.
  3. Bedsheets, a pillow and a mosquito net. The bedding is available over here, but they sell it for very high prices.
  4. A rope to dry laundry, an extension cord, and an umbrella (the monsoon starts around mid July).
  5. Clothes for fests and outings.
  6. All the other things are easily accessible over here.
  7. Other than all these things, you may carry a laptop, an electric kettle, a hard disk and a bicycle (although you can easily buy a first or second hand bicycle over here). 

This is all you need to carry for a smooth stay at the MNNIT Allahabad hostel.

The fresher B.Tech boys get Swami Vivekanand Boys’ Hostel at MNNIT Allahabad. It is the best out of all the boys’ hostels at our college. The college management does everything to create a cheerful and positive environment for freshers. 

Here are some details about SVBH (freshers’ hostel)-

  1. The rooms are three-seater and spacious enough for three people.
  2. Each student gets a bed, a study table, a chair and an almirah (with ample space).
  3. The seven-storeyed hostel building contains four water coolers on every floor.
  4. There are two common rooms with a television in each. We watch movies and enjoy cricket matches over there. 
  5. The hostel also has its own shop for stationary and other basic necessities.
  6. Alongside the TV rooms is a paid canteen from where you can buy snacks even during late night.
  7. The wifi routers are 8 on each floor, 4 in each wing. One can access sufficient range and speed with some vpn and proxy settings.
  8. The rooms are cleaned regularly, and they are always in a hygienic condition.
  9. The hostel premises have sufficient space for late night walks.
  10. The washrooms are hygienic, but there’s always a rush outside them in the morning.
  11.  The mess serves a variety of meals, but the food is very average in taste.
  12. All the messes on campus serve strictly vegetarian meals.
  13. Two messes operate in the SVBH hostel simultaneously, each having a capacity to cater to 70-80 students at a time. This has been done to ensure proper services during rush hours.
