AMU MSc Eligibility Criteria

To get admission in AMU MSc, the candidate must have an aggregate of at least 55% marks in the relevant discipline. University offers reservations for candidates of the weaker sections of society. Detailed eligibility for different specializations are as under:

Agricultural microbiology BSc in agriculture, bioscience, microbiology, industrial microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, bioinformatics, molecular biology with an aggregate of 55% marks at least / BSc life sciences with one of the subjects as biology or botany or chemistry or microbiology or biotechnology as primary and 2 subsidiary subjects with at least 55% in aggregate
Agricultural entomology BSc in agriculture, horticulture, and forestry with a minimum of 55% marks / BSc in life sciences, biosciences, or chemistry with Zoology, botany, and Chemistry. BSc zoology or botany as main subjects with a minimum of 55% marks aggregate.
Plant pathology
Home science BSc Honours in home science with 60% marks
Biochemistry and Botany BSc Honours with botany measures along with chemistry and Zoology / BSc with two optional subjects among chemistry, Zoology, genetics, and environmental sciences
Applied geology BSc Honours in geology / BSc Geology with at least 55% marks
Zoology BSc Zoology with botany, chemistry, genetics, biochemistry, biotechnology of fisheries
Museology Bachelors in Zoology, botany, wildlife sciences, geology, chemistry, anthropology, engineering, computer applications, archaeology, industrial chemistry, geography, agriculture, forestry, environmental sciences, biochemistry, history of fine arts with at least 55% marks in aggregate

AMU MSc Admission Criteria

The selection in MSc for any specialization is based on the entrance examination conducted by AMU. The college releases the cutoff on its official website. 

How to apply?

Candidates can apply for admission at Aligarh Muslim University only through Online mode. The Application Form, other than online mode, will not be accepted in any case. Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate for each course of study. Follow the below-mentioned Steps to be admitted to AMU MSc Program:

  • Visit the University website www.amucontrollerexams.com.
  • Follow the instructions strictly as given in the Guide to Admissions 2024- 25 and on the website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be disqualified from admission.
  • Candidate should then register online and provide his / her correct and functional email because the username, password, etc., will be sent to this email.
  • Candidate should Registration only once for applying to the multiple courses. 
  • After Registering candidate should log in using his/her username and password. A dashboard of the candidate will be available to him/her for filling out the form. 
  • The candidate should fill out his/her Profile carefully. Fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory. After saving the Profile, the candidate will be asked to review and confirm that the particulars entered are correct. The candidate will not be able to Edit/Update his/her Profile after confirmation. If a candidate finds any mistake in his/her Profile after confirmation, then he/she will have to re-register with a different Username and Password to complete all the entries afresh.
  • Candidate should fill in details of his/her educational qualifications by providing the name of all examinations passed, including qualifying examination, year of passing, Examination Roll No., University/Board from where passed, and the percentage/CGPA obtained. 
  • Upload the important Documents that are required for Admission along with thumb impressions and colored photographs.
  • Submit the Application fee in online mode only. The admission fee is not accepted in offline mode. The application fee is INR 700 for all Category candidates. 
  • The Application Form is submitted electronically the moment the candidate makes the payment of the processing charges and payment is successful. 
  • Candidates must take the printout of the Application form and keep it for future reference.

Documents Required

  • Scanned copy of date of birth certificate/High School Certificate of the candidate.
  • Passport Size Photographs.
  • Scanned copy of Marks-sheet / grade-sheet of qualifying examination. 
  • Scanned copy of documents in support of claim under special category, if any.
  • Scanned copy of documents in support of Professional Experience, if any.
  • Scanned copy of No Objection Certificate from the employer, if employed at present.
