The college brings the best in any student. You will get yourself changed during the whole tenure (4-5 years). There are always some bad and good things in everything so is in this college. But if you seek an opportunity then you will make best out of everything. The most amazing thing in the college is the LIBRARY (fully air conditioned and having facility of digital library). The environment and greenery is of course the best. And also BUS FACILITY is available which romes in the college campus from area to area during specific hours.
There is some corruption in the college related to funds of the college fest and some other technical events. The teachers also sometimes are on a strike due to promotion delayed for many years and very low salary increment due to the corruption of higher authorities in the college. This is a very serious issue which at the end mostly affects the student.
The college has some negative aspects which are affecting the ranking of the college in a bad way. These include delayed promotions and salary payment to professors which causes regular strikes in college done by professors. Also there is a lot of scam around the funding of college fest in which higher authorities of college give less money for organising the fest than they get from the central government. Postive aspects- The college have lush green and well maintained campus which is ideal for students. Also the location of college is at the heart of Surat city which is very convenient for students.
It was a lovely place to be for four years, probably the golden years of our life and I am proud to say that I spent them in the perfect setup There could be so many things that could have been better but I would still prefer it to be the way it was because for me it was perfect
It has good environment to live plus college's campus placed on main highway ( surat-dumas road), which is the best location to live. Also College is providing so many Extra curricular activities and encouraging sprots.
I think there is very less negative about this college. people feel lucky those who get this college.and this college is at centre of City malls are near by.and also people from many states are there.
You need to clear JEE main exam and get good scores in board exams also. After securing a good rank, student has to fill choices for counselling rounds. After each round some college will be provided according to the choice. Once you get a desired choice you pay the fees and verify the documents.
Since the college is an NIT (national institute of technology) so there is an entrance exam named JEE Mains which is held every year in starting the week of April which is needed to be cleared to be eligible for taking admissions in NIT’s. After getting selected in JEE Mains you become eligible to go through CSAB’s (Central Seat Allocation Board) seat allocation program in which you have all the list of IIT’s, NIT’s, IIIT’s and other a few other governments funded colleges, this allocation takes place around the first week of June. Here you have to fill the college and branch preferences according to your rank and interest. You are allotted college and branch according to your preference order and your rank at the end of the allocation. College starts near the end of July month.
It is in the heart of surat, very good area and all the facilities you can get nearly in 5km range, near to the airport, bus and rail station. And also some great places are there to have food. It will be a great experience to live 4 years in surat.
Overall our college is good and provides the best education. The teachers are supportive in case you need to help with study or if you don't understand something.
My review of SVNIT is a mixed one. It is a good choice in almost every aspect other than sports.
For sports enthusiasts, SVNIT is not the right choice. The condition of sports facilities at our college is not good. The sports grounds are not in a good shape. The cricket/football ground becomes a grassland from July to December.
The indoor badminton courts, which are two in number, are immensely insufficient to cater to around 4000 students. Each one has to wait a long time for their turn, and is given around 10 minutes to play the sport. Such a huge number of students can not access the badminton courts for sufficient durations. MMNCT is the best sports event of the year. It is an inter-year cricket tournament that takes place at night. The gym is well designed and has all the modern equipment.
Many classes are boring. But a lot of the professors, especially in the Civil department, teach really well. The marking system is very transparent, and after 15-30 days post the exams, answer sheets are made available for students to have a look. The classrooms are also very school-like in appearance. The rules are lenient, and most teachers are satisfied with a 60% student attendance.
The location is quite good, and malls, theaters, etc. are easily accessible. The campus is located in a posh area of Surat. Places like Mumbai, Daman, etc. are easily accessible for getaways. The placements are top notch, the clubs are plenty and quite decent. The mess food is quite good as well.
Unless you are very serious about getting the best sports facilities, SVNIT is a good college. But for sports facilities, I would recommend you try for MNIT Jaipur.
