Course Curriculum Overview :

The dual degree course in BITS is a way to get a BE degree along with it. In a way, it is a shortcut to reach top tier college and also get two degrees in 5 years in a top tier college of the country. The curriculum is mix of some old and modern things and I think more old approach can be removed and only modern approach should be retained. There are 2 quizzes, a midsem and a endsem.

Internships Opportunities :

The top companies visit for internship. All MAANG/FAANG companies visit for SIP. All the big companies from all the sectors including tech, non core, core and finance, visit here. All the projects are related to various different fields like web development, DSA, mechanical, chemical and electrical.

Placement Experience :

Single degree students are eligible in 7th semester and dual degree students are eligible in 9th semester for sitting in the placements. All the big companies including FAANG/MAANG companies visit here. Highest package around 60LPA and average around 18LPA. Around 70% students placed recently. Sitting for placements after degree.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees is really high. It increases around 5-6% each year. If your family income is below 15LPA per annum, then there is a good facility of scholarship. Merit Scholarship is also there. I have personally joined a Punjabi culture club and I have a responsibility of the Bhangra team there

Campus Life :

Waves, the cultural fest of the college comfortably sits in the top 10 in the country. Quark, the tech fest is also really huge. Spree, the sports fest is the largest sports fest of the country. There are student run clubs and fests for all the purposes one might require. Sports and extracurricular activities are great too.

Hostel Facilities :

Mess food is fine, it's like any other college mess. The hostel taking is compulsory. There is no PG option available. Registration process for hostel is fairly easy. Hostel and mess is really affordable too.

Admission :

BITSAT is required to be given. It is easier than JEE Mains but lengthier than it. The cutoffs are recently on a rise. It has risen by around 20% in the last 2 years. There is no reservation in BITS. BITSAT is held twice annually in May and June.

Faculty :

There are around 200-225 professors and around 4000-4500 students on campus. So the faculty to student ratio is good too. There are enough professor available for the classes and the students to have a good learning experience. Faculties credentials are great in research internationally and they are also there for one to one mentorship. You can meet them whenever you feel like in their office/chamber.

Placement Experience:

Students can sit for placements in their final year. Many companies visit the campus for hiring drives. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Atlassian, Rubrik, Uber etc. These are some of the biggest IT names in the industry. There are companies that come for corre recruitment too. The highest and average packages are kept confidential. But if rumours are to be trusted, the highest package domestic is around 80lpa Atlassian whereas the average is around 24L for IT and 17L overall. More than 90% of the batch gets placed usually. I plan to work in the IT industry for a while. After that, I plan to go for Masters's's in Business Administration. It is all a plan for now, nothing is set in stone.

Admission:

A student needs to qualify the entrance exam of CSIR or UGC NET JRF and also a person is having basic qualifications with sufficient training of 2-3 months is necessary. Then one can apply for the application online. I fitted in the first one, so I got selected for the interview round which happens only once in a year. Luckily I cleared that also and got an admission in the institute.

Placement Experience:

The institute gives opportunities for the graduates and post-graduates with internships in which they are allowed to carry out various projects related to oceanography. These internships are really beneficial for us to grow and get well-researched information of our own.

Remarks:

You love your life here and you're surely gonna miss it after the end of your course here. A downside here is the sex ratio which is there in any other engineering college of India. A upside is that there is no reservation here.

It's college. There might be hiccups here and then but the student committee is what bridges the gap between us and the college management.

Entrance Preview:

For the admission to the MSc Biotechnology program, I appeared in the Combined entrance examination conducted by the Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) new Delhi. Based upon my score in the entrance test and my preferences for the course offered by Goa university, I got admission. I scored fairly well, I was the topper in my goa university batch (I could not know what score other 180 selected students got ).

Admission:

Based on my performance in the CEE, my application was forwarded to the department of marine science and biotechnology, Goa university. After further evaluation my credentials, they send me an admission letter. The admission process was smooth and hassle free. I went there and met the Head of the department and showed my certificates and other documents.

Remarks:

After coming to BITS Pilani, Goa and spending some time over here, I can rarely speak anything bad about this campus. Everyone here is very helpful especially the seniors. The campus is so big and so well maintained that is is the place I am very happy to be at, just to give an example, our Cricket ground is maintained by BCCI, our campus has a tie-up with IEEE, TEDx, Google and any more.

Remarks:

BITS is one the top engg colleges in the country. It deveops the student as a whole. I already mentioned all the goods and the bads. One thing i would like to focus is regarsing our education system. Our system doesnt allow us to think logically and with our free mind. Our career decision are influenced by our parents and the amount of pay the career offers. Its only during our college life we finds our interests and passion. And sometimes its gets a little late.BITS although being the top engg. college, doesnt promote true knowledge and learning. Resulting in students to more worry about their grades than actually what they learned.
