BITS Pilani, It's magic

Remarks :

You love your life here and you're surely gonna miss it after the end of your course here. A downside here is the sex ratio which is there in any other engineering college of India. A upside is that there is no reservation here.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is good enough and up to date. We have 2 main exams which are Mid Sems and Comprehensive exams which are at the end of the semester, other than that, we keep having regular quizzes of less weightage in between.

Placement Experience :

Placements are decent and average package for a CSE student is around 25 lakhs p.a. We have something called practice school program in which our college gets us two internships for 2 months at the end of our second year and 6 months in our final year. This is offered based on cgpa. So it's guranteed that you'll do 2 internships in your graduation.

College Events :

There are several events happening throughout the year. Our three fests, Waves, Quark and spree are probably the best days of our lives here. Many big artists come here to perform. These fests lasts 3 day each. With a lot of fun events and competitions, it is the most enjoyable part of our college.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

That's probably the only downside to our college, it is expensive. An yearly around 5 lakh fees is there and it increases slightly every year. But the college provides scholarships for the needed and deserving people based on their performance in college.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Scholarships are offered based on cgpa. You can get upto 100% scholarship. People with incomes below a certain limit can avail another scholarship of upto 80% with their cgpa. I personally have availed 40% and 25% in my first two semesters.

Campus Life :

We have a lot of active clubs and departments which cater to any interest you have from anime to music to dance. Clubs are there if you want to engage in social work too. We have almost all the sports facilities with a cricket ground that is BCCI recognized. Labs are decent and improving too.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel is decent enough. You get double rooms for the first year and then single rooms for the rest of your college life. You have decent facilities including wifi, hot water, water coolers, etc. In your hostel. Mess food is pretty decent too.

Alumni/Alumna :

Seniors are the best people we meet on campus. There's no ragging here in BITS. Seniors are really helpful and alumni remain connected through BITSAA and social media platforms. Probably the alumni network is one of the best thing about BITS.

Admission :

We give an entrance test called BITSAT and then get admission based on merit. We then fill our preference for the courses in the 3 indian campuses. There are generally 5 rounds of admission and once we get aloted a branch in some campus, we pay the fee and wait for other rounds to see if we get upgraded in our preference list.

Faculty :

Most faculty I feel is good and really qualified. Most of them are from IITs and some are from foreign universities too. One of our professor recently got an offer at Stanford. Most of them teach well but like any other college, we do have some bad faculty.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The relevance and comprehensiveness of the curriculum are often evaluated based on factors like practical applications etc. A good curriculum should balance theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for the real world.

Placement Experience:

Students can sit for placements in their final year. Many companies visit the campus for hiring drives. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Atlassian, Rubrik, Uber etc. These are some of the biggest IT names in the industry. There are companies that come for corre recruitment too. The highest and average packages are kept confidential. But if rumours are to be trusted, the highest package domestic is around 80lpa Atlassian whereas the average is around 24L for IT and 17L overall. More than 90% of the batch gets placed usually. I plan to work in the IT industry for a while. After that, I plan to go for Masters's's in Business Administration. It is all a plan for now, nothing is set in stone.

Placement Experience:

Placements are one of the best in the country. There is a good mix of tech and nontech companies coming on campus. The Internship program helps you get immersed in the corporate culture and come out ready for the outer world.

Admission:

A student needs to qualify the entrance exam of CSIR or UGC NET JRF and also a person is having basic qualifications with sufficient training of 2-3 months is necessary. Then one can apply for the application online. I fitted in the first one, so I got selected for the interview round which happens only once in a year. Luckily I cleared that also and got an admission in the institute.

Placement Experience:

The institute gives opportunities for the graduates and post-graduates with internships in which they are allowed to carry out various projects related to oceanography. These internships are really beneficial for us to grow and get well-researched information of our own.

After coming to BITS Pilani, Goa and spending some time over here, I can rarely speak anything bad about this campus. Everyone here is very helpful especially the seniors. The campus is so big and so well maintained that is is the place I am very happy to be at, just to give an example, our Cricket ground is maintained by BCCI, our campus has a tie-up with IEEE, TEDx, Google and any more.
