- Faculty : The faculty is experienced and well qualified to cater to all the needs of the students.
Dislikes
- Library : The library seems pretty outdated and old-fashioned. The library timings are also a huge problem for the students as it closes by 9PM
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is pretty similar to those seen in premier government colleges (many IITs and NITs). The courses for all the branches are same in the first year which consists of 2 cycles : The physics cycle and the chemistry cycle. In first sememster, the circuital branches studied the chemistry cycle and non-circuital branches opted for the physics cycle. In the second semester, the cycles were swapped for both groups of branches. 3rd semester onwards all branches will be studying branch-specific courses.
Internships Opportunities :
The college provides decent internship opportunities for all branches after the 4th semester. There are options for both paid and unpaid internships and students can work for their desired internship 3rd semester onwards.
Placement Experience :
According to the data of 2023, the average package was that of 11.57 lakhs per annum with a highest package of 51.00 lakhs per annum. The average placement percentage over the last few years is around 75% with an average median package of 8.5 lakhs.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The overall fee for four years for a B.Tech program is roughly 16 lakhs. However it varies depending upon various factors. There is provision of scholarships for deserving students based on category. Caution fees, medical fees are included in the figure I mentioned above which means there is free medical treatment for students at the College's dispensary. The college has assosiation with some of the good local hospitals in Ranchi to provide best medical care to its students free of cost.
Campus Life :
The college conducts 2 fests- Pantheon (The tech fest) and Bitotsav (The cultural fest). Other than that, the college has 30+ clubs and societies which conduct various events and recruit students from first and second year. The clubs and societies are a great way of learning life skills and pursuing your interests in the fields of your choice.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostels are adequate as compared to other government engineering colleges. Some hostels are in great condition while some need renovation. Every hostel has its own mess which is a great thing to have. The food quality is decent with 4 meals a day at around 2500-4000 per month depending upon the mess and the menu the mess committee of the hostel decides on.
Admission :
A decent JEE MAINS score would ensure you a seat in BIT Mesra regardless of category or gender. However it is to be noted that roughly 50% of the seats are reserved for students who have Jharkhand as their home state making the cut-off a bit higher for students from outside of Jharkhand.
Faculty :
The faculty to Student ratio is decent and not something anyone needs to worry about. However, in certain branches where the class size is a bit too large faculties find it difficult to teach as well as for the students it's a challenging task to clear their doubts.
