Course Curriculum Overview :
I am a student of the Chemical Engineering department. The curriculum is very relevant considering the current industrial requirements and helps you to be prepared for both real world applications and further academic pursuits. Exams are held twice in a semester and their difficulty level varies according to the subject.
Internships Opportunities :
Companies recruit interns for many roles like SDE, Quant, Product Manager, etc. A student has to be decent in acads and must have some knowledge in the field he wants to enter to secure an internship.
Placement Experience :
Placements of the college are decent to good. Many big tech companies like Microsoft, Google, etc visit the campus for placements. The average package lies somewhere around 18 lakhs and around 70-80% students get placed every year.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Tution fee per semester is around 1 lakhs and hostel, mess and other constitute another 30k but there are many scholarships/ financial aid available if you don't come from a strong financial background.Placement opportunities are good and very diverse.
Campus Life :
Many fests are held in a year, the biggest of them being Alcheringa, the cultural fest of IIT Guwahati which is held in February followed by Techniche the tech fest, and pardha the sports fest. There are many clubs which give an individual immense opportunity to do something they actually enjoy after class hours.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel rooms are decent and the quality of the mess food varies from one hostel to another. There are basic amenities available along with that we have a canteen, juice centre, stationary, gym and a tv room in every hostel.
Admission :
The JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) admission process is highly competitive and rigorous. To apply, students typically have to fill out an online application form, providing personal details, educational qualifications, and exam preferences. They then have to prepare for and sit for the JEE Main exam, which is the first step in the process. The cutoff for JEE Main varies each year and is determined by factors such as the difficulty level of the exam and the number of applicants. After clearing the JEE Main, students can advance to the JEE Advanced exam, which is more challenging and determines admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). One aspect of the admission process that students may find challenging is the intense competition, which can be stressful and overwhelming. Additionally, the reliance on a single exam to determine admission to top engineering colleges can put a lot of pressure on.
