IIT Bombay's Overall Review

Dislikes

  • Professors are not so good in teaching.
  • The syllabus is tough and the exams are difficult.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose the MEMS Dept bcoz its average package was quite high and It was the best thing I could get on my AIR 3031. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:30 and profs are quite helpful. The term exams were quite difficult but just enough to pass.

Internships Opportunities :

Various internships are available from the second year. There are projects and Work allotted during the internship and also stipend isn't that much but it's the work experience that matters.

Placement Experience :

The students become eligible for placements in their fourth year or after 6 semesters. Many companies visit campus including Google, Amazon, etc. 80 per cent of students get placed I am going to sit for placements after my degree.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure is distributed in 2 parts. The academic and non-academic. Non-academic institutes hostel, mess, other activities, etc. There is financial assistance for those whose family income is less than 7 LPA.

Campus Life :

The life on Campus is amazing. It is active every day and some or other event is going on every night on the campus. We can participate in events and socialize.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facility is great. There are mess facilities available, a dryer, and a washing machine in every wing. The rooms are a bit small but it's manageable and the hostel rent is also quite affordable.

Admission :

The admission process was simple. I gave Jee mains and advance and applied to colleges through Josaa counselling with the required docs. To apply for counselling You need to go to Josaa's official website created by NTA and enter your essentials with a fee of INR 40000 from which 36000 will be refunded once you are admitted to a college through it. Josaa takes its 4000rs share and you upload your imp docs online to it.

Other Applied Colleges

International Institute of Information Technology - [IIIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electronics & Communication Engineering)

Because of a Poor In campus life and lack of Extracurriculars.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placement from the 7th semester itself. Last year a ton of companies visited the campus right from TCS, Infosys, and Accenture to ZS associates, Veritas, etc. There is a good opportunity for nontech branches also in the college, the package is not high but it is good. According to the college, almost 78% of students got the placements. The highest packages were 45 LPA Amazon, 44 LPA Microsoft, and 36.5 LPA D.E.Shaw. The majority of the placements above 12 LPA were off campus, few were on campus. My plans after getting a degree are to be placed in good company with a good package

Course Curriculum Overview:

All the students are given electives to choose and we also have the compulsory courses too, common for all. The electives could be chosen based on varied interests of students and are very engaging. The compulsory courses are chosen and kept very wisely and are essential for computer science and engineering students. The courses and evaluation plans are very well created and curated for students to be able to solve real world problems too later in professional and personal lives. There aren't much suggestions and areas to improve as of now. Exams and tests are conducted almost every two weeks. This keeps the students keen on learning and practicing all the while and doesn't let them slag in between the semester. The exams are monitored from the headquarters at Pune, and hence all is kept under check and maintained.

Placement Experience:

As our college provides placement on our Campuses the opportunity to grab placement is quite simple but not much as there is competition among 3 colleges, although the maximum students who get placed through campus placements, is around 60%.
