Course Curriculum Overview :
The Mathematics department at IIT Mandi is very good. Teachers are very supportive. Exams are also not too difficult compared to other IITs. The applied portion is mainly taught here rather than pure mathematics.
Internships Opportunities :
Internships for mathematics students are so many and generally people learn to code and apply as analysts. The internship is given in the first year of our course and generally of 2 months only as the curriculum doesn't allow 6 months internship. Stipends vary from company to company.
Placement Experience :
The placement is very good. This time Mathematics department of IIT Mandi got the highest placement among all the IITs. The average package seemed to be 10 lakhs. Even mine is 11.5 lpa CTC as a project engineer trainee.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Fees are very as compared to other IITs. Fees are taken per semester which varies from course to course. Mine varied from Rs. 35000 to Rs. 50000 per semester which included hostel and mess fees also and of course tuition fees along with sports and medical and other things. Financial aid is provided to the needy through MCM every semester which is worth Rs.10000.
Campus Life :
Life is best in IIT Mandi. You get the best weather with hills all around and rivers flowing on one side of campus. There is so much greenery. People go on treks and bicycle riding. Clubs like Mountain Biking Club and Hiking and Trekking Club are very active. The sports facilities are excellent with huge badminton courts and a swimming pool and also the gym.
Admission :
I appeared in Joint Admission Test for my Masters's. I got 417th rank and 43.33 marks which varies from paper difficulty level on what marks you get what rank. Generally, for general categories up to 500 ranks, you can get decent IITs. Otherwise, you can fill separate form for NITs.
