Remarks :

I think being a part of such prestigious institution there is no need to further elaborate the good things about my college as such there is no bad things about the college but still i sometimes feel that college management doesn't care much about the students.

Entrance Preview :

I took IIT JEE 2012 and got AIR 1079 and I chose it because of its rigorous academics and excellent infrastructure. I took Chemical engineering because of its wide scope in future.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum in IIT kanpur is very well designed and follows a similar structure as followed in MIT. Every branch has sufficient elective courses which you can take from any of the branches. This is meant to promote interdisciplinary learning.

Internships Opportunities :

Their is a separate Students placement office which work throughout the year to bring all kinds of internship opportunities . And Mostly all big companies come here for internships like goldman sachs , capital one , ITC , HUL ,google , facebook etc. Stipend also differs from company to company lIke google , facebook offers 4-5 lakh per month while ITC , HUL offers 70 - 80 K per month . There is also a IIT kanpur US office which brings paid research internship opportunities in US universities.

Placement Experience :

Placements are excellent. Every year more than 95 % students get placed in big companies . And i wont talk much about the packages since being a IIT , every company that comes here offers sufficient remuneration to justify the talent of students that study here . Last year more than 350 companies came here for the campus placements.

College Events :

We have 3 national level festivals each year , one for each cultural , technical and sports respectively out of which Techkriti and antaragni are the biggest with budgets of over 1.5 crores . Also each year we have E summit in which prominent business personalities are invited . This gives growing startups inside campus a very serious platform to pitch their idea and get some serious funding.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fees had definitely increased after the implementation of new rules by the HRD ministry but i still think it is feasible and justified with respect to the facilities that we get here . Also it is still very much below the fees of good private engineering colleges in india.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Scholar Loans are very easily available to all the students who study here . Also College itself provides various scholarships to needy students. For example Various donor scholarships , Merit cum means scholarship etc.

Campus Life :

Campus Life is excellent . We have a 1150 acres lush green campus with world class facilities for all the sports. Food facilities are also excellent with lot of prominent food chain outlets inside the campus. We have a very highly efficient private sis security inside the campus. Only thing that it lags behind is the gender ratio but it is mainly because less no of girls that clear jee examination . Also we have lot of cultural and technical clubs inside the campus and they all were very well developed due to significant amount of funding that they get from the college authorities. Now if we talk about discrimination then i didn't even once observed any kind of discrimination based on gender race or other factors.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel Facilities are excellent . Each hostel has its own sports facilities and if we talk about the size of hostels then i can say that they are even bigger than some of the private schools i have seen . Hostel rooms are also sufficient for all the students . For first years , mainly rooms are shared between two students. Mess food is good also. If we talk about no then room rent for one day is 25 Rs and for food it is 50 Rs a day which include food for three times a day.

External Expense : Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna :

Yes alumni network of college is very active and highly helpful even if you don't know a particular senior and you approach him then also he helps you to the best he can.

Exam Structure :

We usually have 5-6 courses in every semester and each course usually have 2 quizzes and 2 examinations (mid sem and end sem ). Above information is general . It may very from course to course like some professors may take only one exam or some may ask you to do some graded project . Since we have a very fast paced curriculum and also 5 days a week so days are usually busy but i would not categorize them as hectic. Usually you have 4 hours of lecture each day along with one or two labs once a week.

Admission :

I filled online form from IIT JEE website. Then after scoring a good rank , i was called to participate in common counselling which was held for admissions in IITs in June. Then I filled my choices in the online counselling portal . After that i was allotted a seat . Then i went to the respective IIT for the further admission process.

Faculty :

All the faculty in IIT kanpur are highly qualified which automatically reflect in their way of teaching . Mostly all professors have done their phds from some foreign university with minimum being done phd from some IIT. They all teach their courses with very high level of enthusiasm and professionalism.

Campus placement like 2 months summer intern, 6 months intern + full time can be offered by companies, Most student get full time opportunity through 2 month summer intern Students having offer for intern are eligible for full time also since cahncea of ppo is not consider as their offer Sometimes offer revoked student get additional support for next one year through college for placement, student getting offer for package can again apply for 2x offer if new company visit for twice the offer Generally package are within 15-20 lpa for ece, cse and electrical student and psu also visit for offer direct through interview so many opportunity are given to student than expected

Masters in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 2023-2035

Placement Experience:

During the third semester of the master of technology, students are eligible to sit in campus placements. In the Electrical Engineering Department most of the top semiconductor companies like Intel qualcomm, micron, Texas instruments, onsemi, cadence, amd visited this year. Number of offers made is 80 out of 140 candidates. The highest package is 49 LPA by Qualcomm. 60 per cent got placed this year due to poor market conditions. I am going to work in a semiconductor company after completing my degree.

THE BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS OF IIT KANPUR

Placement Experience:

Placements of IITK are very good. Even during recession the average package was 15lpa. Highest package was 60lpa and lowest was 12lpa. If someone is not getting placed then professors help in their own domain. After degree, I am planning to work in a product based company after degree.

Campus Placements are great, there is a market slowdown but most(70%) of them from mtech got placed this year and still the placements are going on. Other than that you will have internship opportunities from the college or as well as outside the campus as well. From the last two years, 6-month internship is provided to mtech as well.

Engineering in the city of Gods

Remarks:

The one thing which is deteriorating the Masters level education in India is the double-mindedness of most of the GATE aspirants. Those with lower ranks join institutes of national importance such as ours just for the sake of the monthly stipend and the time they would get for GATE preparation. Such students waste the opportunity for someone else who is really interested in research, but could not get there due to low GATE score. It is high time that we prioritize our needs and act accordingly; it can only boost the research temperament among the student community.
