You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

Throughout my career, there have been a lot of conferences and paper presentations done by different colleges and universities. If you participate in them, you get to connect to a lot of people from other universities and colleges. We are in the same domain and this can help you regarding any other problems you may face in your industry. This is what motivates me to keep teaching. It allows me to interact with like minded people.

How does the curriculum of the Xavier Institute of Polytechnic and Technology (XIPT) of ensure the best practice of industry?

Xavier Institute of Polytechnic and Technology is approved by AICTE and affiliated with the Jharkhand University of Technology. As an affiliating college we do not have much freedom to change our curriculum which is set by the university. What we can do is tie up with different industries to recruit students from us for full-time jobs and internships.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the Xavier Institute of Polytechnic and Technology (XIPT) and the students are?

My role and responsibilities are centred around a key issue. Currently, most universities and colleges are transitioning back to their regular platforms, where they are accepting students through both online and offline modes. This flexibility makes it easier for students to participate in their studies and attend video events. As a result, the percentage of students engaging in campus activities has significantly increased. Employers who initially recruited students online are now also conducting in-person interviews. This shift has led to a substantial increase in student participation. If this trend continues for another year or two, we can expect a return to a more normal way of life.

What would you like people to know about your Xavier Institute of Polytechnic and Technology (XIPT) they may not know?

There is a perception among the students and parents that studying technical courses nowadays doesn't help and that there is a drop in the job market of engineering. The problem is that several colleges have cropped up, and it is becoming difficult to maintain the quality of education, due to which the quality of students has fallen too. For the right student, there are jobs available. This is what we are trying to tackle at XIPT.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

Most of the youth today do not read newspapers or even their textbooks. They're glued to their phone using Facebook. Of course, there are apps that are good like Youtube that allow students to search for topics they do not understand, but what matters most is practicing on pen and paper. This will set a solid foundation for their careers and test their knowledge. They need to cut down their screen time and set a schedule to study and practice their hobbies.
