Dr. D. Sujatha completed her B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from P.D.A College of Engineering, Gulbarga. She did her M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from JNTU College of Engineering, Kakinada, and her Ph.D. from JNTU University, Hyderabad Data Mining. She has over 21 years of teaching experience in various reputed engineering colleges in Telangana. She has published more than 25 research papers in international and national journals and conferences. She has conducted various workshops, faculty development programs, seminars, and conferences. To her credit, she has 2 patents. A patent on An Automated system for Assisting Persons with Medical Needs and A patent on Image Segmentation For MRI Based Brain Tumor Detection Using Clustering Techniques. She was awarded as BEST WOMEN FACULTY by IASTE and was also awarded as Academic Leadership by Kasetsart University.

What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute/department? Which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

The latest programs offered by the institute are B.Tech CSE (AI&ML), B.Tech-AI&ML, B.Tech- AIDS. The graduates of the above courses will have an extra feather in their cap when compared with B.Tech CSE graduates because these students will undergo training in many specialization subjects like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Data Handling and Visualization, Neural Networks, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, etc. Due to this reason apart from Software Engineer and developer roles, they may have the chance of getting other roles like Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Natural Language Processing Engineers, AI Engineers, AI Architects, Data Miners, Machine Learning Engineers, etc.

The best practices in the courses B.Tech CSE (AI&ML), B.Tech-AI&ML, and B.Tech- AIDS are first, for every specialization subject we have a corresponding lab so that the students can get hands-on experience in all the subjects. (e.g., Machine Learning Lab, Deep Learning Lab, Data Science Lab, Data Handling and Visualization Lab, Natural Language Processing Lab, etc.). Secondly, students are making use of these subjects in application development, mini-projects, and main project development. Thirdly, workshops and Seminars are conducted on these topics with industry experts.


What are some valuable insights from the program that you are offering at your institute/department?

Firstly, students will get expertise in AI & and ML Technologies. Secondly, students can implement all the Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithms using Python. Thirdly, students can solve many real-world problems with machine learning algorithms by importing the datasets. And, lastly, we always make sure we update our curriculum with the latest industry needs and provide training with the latest tools.


How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

We always believe faculty play a prominent role and they have to be updated on the latest technologies to keep up with the students. We organize FDPs on the latest trends from industry experts. We always send faculty to attend FDPs in various prominent institutes. We have an MOU with Intel-Unnati in which our faculty has access to the servers on which we will provide various datasets to work on. This will in turn help the students.

How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?

For the specialization subjects of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Data Handling and Visualization, etc., we conducted workshops and Faculty Development Programs with industry experts. We provided a very good number of textbooks for getting mastery over the subjects.


How do you tend to build an industry connection with this program?

We have an MOU with Intel Unnati for organizing the various trainings and Internships for both faculty and students on Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, and Deep learning. We are Academia partners with AWS through which we are providing AWS certifications to our students. Our college is a CISCO International Certification Authorized Centre. Our college also has a MoU with Zensar Technologies for the Technology Transfer.


What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program in your curriculum?

For the courses B.Tech CSE (AI&ML), B.Tech-AI&ML, and B.Tech-AIDS the challenges we faced many challenges. Firstly, retaining all the core subjects of B.Tech CSE we need to incorporate new subjects related to the specialization. It is a very challenging task. If we remove core subjects it is very tough to clear competitive exams like GATE etc. So, maintaining the balance between core subjects and specialization subjects while preparing the curriculum is a challenging task. Secondly, searching for experts to prepare the appropriate syllabus for the specialization subjects is another challenge. Thirdly, prescribing the most suitable textbooks and reference books is also a challenge. Fourthly, we also require skilled faculty to teach the specialized subjects. Fifthly, guest lectures or Industry Experts were to be identified for knowledge transfer. Sixthly, workshops were to be organized to get hands-on experience.


What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?

While pursuing the courses B.Tech CSE (AI&ML), B.Tech-AI&ML, and B.Tech-AIDS the students are mostly doing Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing projects in Association with Intel Unnati, and many other industries. In addition to these projects, the students are also doing Web Site Design projects. They are making use of Full Stack Technologies to develop websites.


What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?

After the completion of the courses B.Tech CSE (AI&ML), B.Tech-AI&ML, and B.Tech-AIDS the students will have various career paths.
