What is BTech Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning about?

Essentially, the B.Tech undergraduate program in Artificial intelligence and machine learning, revolves around programming of machines. In essence, it allows the candidate in communicating to the machine in the machine’s mother tongue. Thus in the program the candidate is required to learn these specific languages which can be used to customize the function of machines.

This is only one of the many faces of this program, a lot more is taught alongside these rudimentary topics. Many facets which aid the student in understanding the functioning are taught in this course, for instance information relating to knowledge representation, probabilistic models and reasoning methods are also taught to the candidate form the computer perspective.

The candidates just don’t solely learn about artificial intelligence; they are actually familiarized with more intricate of the decorum. For instance, they are taught about deep learning, human computer interaction and augmented reality. Some institutes also offer the students interdisciplinary courses during this program, students may be required to study edge computing, functioning of internet, psychology marketing one’s computer program and robotics.

It is not a new fact, but in recent years with the advent of the internet, a age of automation has also rapidly risen. The requirement of artificial intelligence is skyrocketing. The biggest companies in the global market revolve around programming for instance Facebook, google in foreign player and Wipro among the Indian IT companies may hire individuals who are passed out form this undergraduate course. Thus this may provide ample opportunity to the graduate once he steps into the service sector.

Why Study BTech Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning course?

The global market since the advent of the internet and smartphones have been leaning towards artificial intelligence. In the current automated age machines are required for successfully completing numerous tasks, lives of individuals in the current world are to an extent dependent on proper functioning of these machines.

B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Admission Process

Admission to the given course is essentially processed through two methods. Either an institute might conduct an entrance exam or it will scrutinize the candidate's merit by considering their performance in 10+2 matric exams. Some institutes conduct their sole entrance exams which are entirely focused on the allocation of seats in the given course. While other institutes also conduct similar BTech Entrance Exams, they also consider the performance of the candidate in the other India wide exams like JEE, for granting due admission. Steps in relation to the admission procedure are listed below.

Step 1: The candidate needs to pass his 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 50%, this aggregate percentage may vary, but it's similar for most institutes. Only after securing it would he be eligible for sitting for entrance exams for registration in the due course.

Step 2:Different institutes conduct different entrance exams, for getting into an IIT the candidate needs to pass IIT-JEE Advanced, some universities like Chandigarh university have their own exams which are required to be cleared for gaining a seat. Similarly, Universities like Indraprastha consider the marks of candidates in both their own university exam as well as in all India wide exams like JEE.

Step 3: Then the student is required to go through the counseling stage, some institutes might even have a personal interview stage which might be required to be cleared by the candidate.

B.Tech Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Eligibility

As mentioned the eligibility criteria for this undergraduate varies in relation to the college. Still, there are a few prerequisites that are essential for pursuing this undergraduate course in most institutes, this criterion has been further discussed below.

  • The candidate must have passed his 10+2 examination from the PCM field, from a recognized state/central education board.
  • The candidate must have secured an aggregate of 50% marks in his 10+2 matric examinations,

Campus Life

Campus life at our college is vibrant, with a good mix of academic focus and fun activities. We have both technical and cultural fests every year: Annual Fest: "Srujana" (Cultural Fest) – held every January/February, includes dance, music, drama, and fashion shows. Technical Fest: "TechnoZest" – usually conducted in September/October, with coding contests, hackathons, paper presentations, and robotics.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum played a big role in my decision to choose this course. What attracted me most was: The balance between core subjects and electives, which allowed flexibility. Inclusion of emerging technologies like Data Science, AI, and Cloud Computing in later semesters. Availability of practical labs and mini-projects that complement theoretical learning.

Campus Life

My overall experience is good in college and hostel. There are many fest like literacy fest , tech boom , Dusshera fest , New year fest held in the campus. The books are available in Library are free to use till a validity of 30 days . After it you have to return books in Library and reallot it and take it again freely . There are no charges on the books. You can take 3 books at a time only. There are projectors in the classes where teachers can present there PPTs. Sports like cricket, basketball and badminton is available for hostellers. MPL is held every year where college students can participate. There is also a club named Abhyudaya club which organises activities in college.

Placement Experience

Placement is good the highest placement was in 2022 that is 49 LPA and this year also 20 LPA of 3 students and 15 lpa of 4 students and many of 5 to 10 lpa . If a student does not get package or job it is his or her fault. Amy be he or she has not prepared or have any skill to get placed if you have potential you can get placed. Every student in college get placed at minimum 3 lpa. The placement rate is 90 %.

Course Curriculum Overview

I ranked the course curriculum 7 out of 10. In the first year, all basic subjects are taught by experienced teachers like maths, physics, chemistry,c programming. I think they must add some technical subjects like coding language and others. Exam are 3 hours long and in each semester minimum 5 subjects are there and each subject have 5 units.

Internships Opportunities

The college provides only information about the internship, and teachers help to secure the internship. But it all depends on your skills and how good you are in that interview. And you have your project on which you have really worked, which helps you to make a better impression in the eyes of the interviewer.

Faculty

The Faculty in IMSEC is quite the one that every student experiences in their school time especially, faculty is available for the students at all times on regular basis but they are more like school type minded during our first year they are, maybe things get differrent during coming years we will see it, faculty has good knowledge about there subjects, the ratio of students to professors is quite the normal and all the faculties are average focuses more on the college based curriculum rather than giving new experiences to the students, teachers are easily approachable and there are some great proffesors tooo which are like really good at there subjects like Jyoti Guglani she is sweet and humble and clears all doubts with clarity and her way of teaching is just like really good every students understands her teachings i personally likes her class especially at al times , she teaches electronics to first year students, but things go worst when u don't maintain your attendance then all the faculty members turns against you and they be like calling you r parents and saying all the worst things to your parents, Though faculty members really wants you to study there subjects completely, Exams are held regularly like every month there are exams, it can be like way too many exams but these exams prepares you for the very best and these makes you ready the upcoming UT exams, Exams can be easy and hard but things are according to what the faculty members had taught, Many students fails during the exams so make up tests are oraganised for them and SAC classes are regularly held for them to make them well prepared in all the aspects, course curriculum focuses more on the learning material rather than grasoing what it is it focuses more on the just learning for the exams and passing them which I personally don't like and which is even not good for this generation of students, otherwise the curriculum is good though it includes all the theoritical part of the subject..........

Our college really helds festivals and stuffd like the freshers for the newcomers which is held like during the november month of the year, along with DJ night there are several participation opportunities for the students which they can really enjoy and can explore the diversity among the college, there is an annual fest VIBGYOR which is held like annually in the college, there are sports fests too which are held like every year, library is like welll equipped with the books and journals and with the books with curriculum involved in the college availabilty is good but college is strict with the retuning poilicy of the books. all the classes are not equipped smart boards and sometimes ac doesn't work during the summers all the other aspects are average, basically there are no support for the sports or for the other extra curricular activities on the campus, there are clubs in the college but they are not really active all the time, i saw the club member making arrangements during some events.

Faculty

Faculty to student ratio is quite good and helps in doubt solving. I personally loved my DAA teacher Soumya Suvra Khan and Computer Organization teacher Lopamudra Dey who unfortunately left for higher studies. I didn't like the BSH faculties and the faculties of Mechanical department as they used to think us as the student of their department and used to pressurize and bully us during lab exams and Viva. There are 4 internal systems exam and 1 end semester exams conducted by MAKAUT....the university we are affiliated with. Those who study well can clear all exams

There is a yearly event where a singer is called and it goes in for 2 days. It usually happens around April. Library has lots of book for our academic and skill set study so you don't have to worry in that regards. There is not that much of sports activity as this colleges is heavily inclined towards academic study. The faculties that are new are all good and also some of the old ones are good but there are also some faculties that are not open to suggestions or they only don't care about their students.

Faculty

There are lots and lots of faculty members. Some are young and are really better then the old ones. Our new faculty members such as sir ankit, our software engineer ma'am and other new faculty are really nice and really know what they are teaching but at the same time, some older faculty are really not that good and just focus on how to exert superiority in the class. There are usually two exams of 20 marks and one of 79 marks and there are some online exams from time to time.

I am currently studying at KKR and KSR institute of technology and sciences. The Faculty memebers are knowledgeble and supportive, especially in the computer science AI department. They explain the concepts clearly and are all always available to clear the doubts outside of thee class hours. One of the best things in our college is placements support. The training and placement and placement cell conducts regular workshops and mock interviews to prepare us for the job market. the college tutin fees in our college is 43000/- per year, the bus fees is nearly 20000/- for long routs and starts 6000/- for local routs. the university fee for our clg is 6000/- per year and also charges the lab charges and interns and soc charges nearly 10000. overall,in our college provides a good balance of academics and extra activities The training and placement cells provides workshops, hackthons and mock interviews in free time of our hours. There is a room for improvement infrastructure, but its a great place to learn and grow the managemt carries with fees nearly 2 lakhs per year and hostel fees includes of 80000/- per year. The Andhra pradesh government offers a Fess reimbursment Scheme to support students from economically weaker sections, covering full tution fees for eligible candidates in private engneering colleges. The campus is clean and well maintained with good facilities like libarary, labs and sports grounds. However, the wifi is slow sometimes, which can be frustating during online Assesments.

Well the curriculum is involving as my Branch is AIDS there are scope in it and the best part for the college is that they provide campus recruitment training in the 6th semester which help everyone to get industry ready the scope of improvement is that as it affiliated with RTU in rtu the syllabus for 1st year students is not relevant there is need of some subject like computer aided graphic design which done on Sketch book which is not relevant it is the waste of time instead of doing this boring and outdated stuff teach them about autocad the fusion 360 like software and the computer labs they are using turbo C for coding that's not up to the mark

The yearly fee will vary according to the branch we chose. But for almost every branch that is related to cse, the fee is 60k per year. Other core branches, there will be some lesser fee. Again it will vary with the type of seat you have like convenient quota or management quota. The fee will be same for every category and it will only vary with the type of admission. The college is now became university and it has its own entrance exam to get a scholarship. They will also help students in finding scholarships like reliance sholarship for single parent or no parent childs and merit scholarships for merit students and many more.

Course Curriculum Overview

1. Specific aspects of the curriculum that influenced your decision to choose this course: I was particularly drawn to the course because of its emphasis on practical learning through project-based assessments and industry-relevant subjects. The inclusion of elective modules allowed me to explore areas like [insert subject if needed, e.g., data analytics or marketing], which aligned with my career interests. 2. How well the curriculum prepares you for real-world applications or further academic pursuits: The curriculum includes internships, live projects, and case studies, which offer a hands-on understanding of real-world challenges. Core subjects provide a solid theoretical foundation, while skill-based learning prepares us for both professional roles and higher studies. 3. Suggestions for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods: Include more interdisciplinary topics and emerging technologies/trends relevant to the field. Increase collaboration with industry experts for guest lectures and workshops. Promote experiential learning through simulations, labs, and capstone projects. Encourage interactive teaching methods instead of traditional lecture-based formats. 4. The frequency and timing of exams along with your perspective on their difficulty level: Exams are typically scheduled at the end of each semester, with occasional mid-term assessments. While the frequency is manageable, the timing sometimes overlaps with project deadlines, causing stress. The difficulty level varies – some exams test conceptual clarity well, while others lean too heavily on rote learning.

Placement Experience

From the second year onward, students become eligible to attend placement drives. Major companies like TCS, Accenture, Amazon, Cognizant, HCL, and Wipro actively recruit from our campus. Approximately 70% of students secure placements with at least a minimum package, reflecting strong industry connections and effective placement support.

Ques. My JEE main rank is 10000. Can I get computer science in NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Danish Khan on 31 May 24

Ans. No, you will not get CSE in NIT Trichy with a 10000 JEE main rank. But you will get to pursue CSE from NIT Jalandhar, NIT Hamirpur, etc. Your rank is quite good but it will not be enough to get admitted to NIT Trichy. However, you might get admitted to other branches in NIT Trichy such as Production, ICE, MME, etc. You can also prepare for JEE Advanced and try your luck with the IITs. Do not lose hope because NIT Tricbhy is not the only best institute in the country to pursue CSE. Also, CSE is not the only course that will lead you to a successful path. There are many other colleges and many other courses that are equally good. Research and take your time. You will surely do great. All the best!Read more

Ques. I got NIT Surathkal ECE and IIIT Bangalore CSE. I am joining IIIT Bangalore CSE, is it a good decision?

● Top Answer By Aditi Banerjee on 14 Sept 23

Ans. This is a very subjective question. However, as a student of ECE at NIT Surathkal, I am writing down a few points in defense of my degree- First of all, NIT Surathkal offers a much more complete and diversified engineering education. This is because you will get to interact with the students of various disciplines from around the institution. This will offer a good exposure in contrast to the IIITs which are entirely focused on CSE and ECE branches. ECE is the branch of the future. CSE is turning more and more into a commodity. This is due to the dilution of its educational standards, and the increasing volume of students in this branch.  As an ECE student, you can always learn programming (it is in fact a part of the curriculum in a limited manner). However, it is much more difficult to learn the concepts of ECE as a CSE student.  As an ECE student you can be placed in a software company, but as a CSE student you can’t work in the E&C field.  Both the colleges are good, but NITK holds more prestige because it is much older. Its campus is very impressive as well. But even IIIT Bangalore CSE is a great option. Once you’ve made a decision, stop seeking others’ opinions. Instead, work on your skill enhancement. Considering the sheer lack of core jobs in the electronics sector in India and the huge placement opportunities in the IT sector, your choice is good from a placement point of view. Read more

Ques. What makes it possible for BITS Pilani CSE students to fetch an average annual placement package of 27.07 LPA, the highest in India for any undergraduate CS course?

● Top Answer By Divya Saraf on 27 Jun 23

Ans. BITS Pilani was able to fetch the highest average in India for any UG CS course owing to the numerous international offers that it received. I don’t consider including the international offers after converting them into Indian offers and then calculating the average as things like stocks and bonuses for subsequent years are overlooked. Thus, the resultant average is inflated and misleading. No doubt BITS is a great institute but being a private one it certainly publishes exaggerated ads and misleading figures to attract the crowd.  BITS Placement Unit is infamous for its actions and bias so the inflated figures also served the purpose of silencing the ones that criticized the unit.  The only solution to this problem is for colleges to come together and decide on a common declaration format for job offers. The Indian and international offers should be normalized according to purchasing power parity, and stocks made available after 3 years of working should not be considered part of a person's salary 'package'.Read more

Ques. I got CSE in VIT Vellore and will get mechanical engineering in NIT Calicut. Which one should I choose?

● Top Answer By Suchit Raghuwanshi on 27 Aug 21

Ans. NIT Calicut stands among the top NITs where you will get a lot of exposure to extracurricular activities. As it’s a government college, the fees will be relatively low as compared to private universities like VIT Vellore.  On the other hand, VIT Vellore isn’t that great institute plus being a private institute the fees is quite high for most middle-class students. If you choose Mechanical here then you can go for two different paths.  The first path is to go for mechanical core, in which you will get ample research opportunities every now and then. However, the placement scenario will not be that great and you might get some PSUs as campus recruiters for mechanical jobs. The second path is to go for IT Jobs regardless of your mechanical branch.  For this, you need to start doing regular coding and relevant skills to compete during the placement rounds. Most of the students are placed by mass recruiters, Although many reputed companies hire but very few students get placed by them. Categories Mechanical at NIT Calicut CSE at VIT Vellore Course Fee 5.48 lakhs 7.83 lakhs Highest CTC 20 LPA 20 LPA Average CTC 9 LPA 6-8 LPA Recruiting Companies L&T, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Tata Motors, etc. Flipkart, Oracle, HP, Dell, etc. At last, it all depends on your interest and caliber to do well on various career paths. However, if you are inclined towards CSE only then VIT is quite a good option because placements are pretty good there for CSE. Some of the major recruiters include PayPal, Microsoft, Amazon, Morgan Stanley, etc.Read more

Ques. Should I choose IIIT Hyderabad over IIT Bombay for CSE?

● Top Answer By Advait Joshi on 18 Aug 23

Ans. Choosing one between IIIT Hyderabad and IIT Bombay for CSE will depend on your personal preferences since both the institutes are highly regarded especially in the field of Computer Science. Always remember that your success rate is directly proportional to your efforts and not your college.  Consider the following aspects and the preferred choice in each of them If you are looking for an elite peer pool with the most geniuses minds, prefer IIT Bombay to IIIT Hyderabad as it comprises JEE toppers, Olympiad Toppers, etc If you are looking for a better coding culture then IIIT Hyderabad it is. It has a larger number of students involved in GSoC, Competitive Programming, Open Source, etc If you want a better campus experience as a whole go for IIT Bombay. Its campus has a lake, a hill, a jungle, Mumbai City Skyline view, thus the quality of life is better here. Both the institutes have equally good placements for the average students while IIT Bombay has better opportunities for toppers. If you value brand name and tag then IIT Bombay is the obvious choice.  If you are a research enthusiast then you will get better opportunities at IIT Bombay because of better professors and alumni network. Moreover, the IIT tag gives you an edge in foreign higher studies. So make your choice based on your preferences!Read more

Ques. Should I study CSE at BITS Pilani or CSE at IIT (BHU)?

● Top Answer By Ritu Raj on 31 Jul 24

Ans. IIT BHU  and BITS Pilani are both highly respected engineering colleges in India. Here’s why IIT BHU is a better option out of the two: Brand Value: The "IIT" name is prestigious and globally recognized. This reputation can be very helpful when applying for jobs or higher studies abroad. Affordable Fees : As a government institution, IIT BHU has much lower fees compared to BITS Pilani, which is a private institution. This makes IIT BHU more affordable for students. High Return on Investment (ROI): Due to its lower fees and excellent placements,  IIT BHU has a higher ROI. Students of IIT BHU invest comparatively less money in their education, but they receive high-paying jobs after graduation. Here is a comparison between IIT BHU and BITS Pilani:   Particulars IIT BHU CSE BITS PILANI CSE Establishment Year 1919 1926 NIRF Ranking: Engineering 15 25 Tuition Fee *INR 1 lakh per semester INR 2.60 lakhs per semester  Highest package (2023) INR 1.15 CPA INR 60.75 LPA (overall) Average package (2023) INR 34.43 LPA INR 30.37 LPA (overall) CTC Range - INR 11-38 LPA (IT/Tech branch) Recruiters Accenture, Accolite, Adobe, etc.  McAfee, McKinsey & Co, CA Technologies, etc.  *(for SC/ST/PwD students, and others with family income <= 1 LPA, the tuition fee is 0. The tuition is exempted by 2/3rd for students with family income <=5 lakh and > 1 lakh). IIT BHU is much more cost-effective than BITS Pilani, and it has better placements as well.
