JNTU Hyderabad Video Review and Analysis

In this light-hearted and witty campus tour video, Vivan takes us inside Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, giving us a peek into its buildings, student life, and unique spots around campus. From the iconic administrative block to the library, canteen, gym, and even the legendary "micro Xerox" box, the video offers a fun and honest view of what life is really like at JNTU Hyderabad — with a bit of humour along the way.

Unique Insights from the Video

  • Old and Proud: JNTU Hyderabad was founded in 1972, making it the first technological university in India.
  • Spacious Campus: The university spreads across 100 acres, located around 20 km from the city center — peaceful yet accessible.
  • Massive Library: The library covers 45,000 sq. ft. across three floors and even includes a dedicated section for competitive exams. (But let's be honest — most students just say they’ll go!)
  • J-Hub for Innovators: The J-Hub incubator supports student startups and entrepreneurship — it’s where the "overachievers" hang out.
  • The Ground is Life: From football to never-ending cricket matches and the occasional dog drama — the college ground is the social hub, especially for first-year students.
  • Auditorium Rules: Even with an ID card, students often can’t get in unless there's an event. It's mysterious… and exclusive.

There are average facilities in the rooms. Some times food quality and taste was worst and some times not bad. Per annum hostel fee is 54,000. Outside the room rent is 45,000 per annum . There are no good facilities in the hostel.

Faculty and examination pattern of the college

Our faculty members are friendly with us. They help us in every point. The relationship between us and faculty is like a family. In this 2nd year most friendly faculty is manohar sir. He was so close with us. There are 5 exams some are easy some are difficult but every one is struggling to pass the exam.

Why student choose this college?

Me applied for brilliant group of institutions and technology, Hyderabad and this st. Mary's group of institutions and technology, Hyderabad. This both colleges are applied for that brilliant college there was no hostel facilities,so I need to change this st.marys college. There was no rejection in any college. I took admission in St. Mary's group of institutions and technology, Hyderabad and I joined in this college

Night Life

My favourite spot in our campus is campus canteen seating with friends and juniors. Eating our favourite food and gossips what the things are held in the classrooms in that day. We all the hostel students play the games happily. In the inside there was no interesting places to visit. At the outside there was so many temples to visit.

I was not sure to pick which college or university, could provide the course in a better way. I picked TKR College of Engineering and Technology, as I felt it was within the city, and I did not have to spend much time travelling to college. I did not get rejected at other colleges, but, I did not accept them as there were too far from where I stay. I got my admission into this college, through counselling. The eligibility being was to get a good rank in the EAMCET. During, those days, the most preferred exams by students was EAMCET.

JNTUH: 18 Answered Questions

If I fail a subject in 1st year and pass it in the 1st supplementary will I get a star in my memo JNTUH?

Aishwarya ShastriLives in Hyderabad

I will suggest that you don’t apply for the intermediate analogy in Graduation. It's a way you can easily pass the subjects based on your convenience throughout the full time of the course. You won’t get any stars in your memo but you will have a memo for each supplementary you write.

The individual memos help you in applying to foreign universities. For other applications, you require a Consolidated Marks Memo which can be easily obtained after clearing all papers. These memos have stars even if you pass in all subjects.

Hope this helped you!

Do we pass in JNTUH after doing a revaluation?

Jiten PradhanStudied at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (2020)

Before applying for a revaluation at JNTU Hyderabad, consider the following points

  • Don't apply for revaluation if it’s just a matter of 1-2 marks.
  • Don’t apply for revaluation if the supplementary exams for the same subject are to be held in less than 2 1/2 months. This is because during this time you will be notified of your supplementary exam fee and exam dates.
  • Go for revaluation if the only chance to re-write the evaluation is the next semester is the only chance to rewrite the failed subject you can go for revaluation
  • Apply for revaluation if there is more than 6 months gap for the supplementary exam.

Hope this helped you!

What is your opinion on JNTUH corrections? Is it genuine? Can one assess themselves with JNTUH percentage? Can you share your experiences?

Jiten PradhanStudied at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (2020)

The correction staff of JNTU Hyderabad is very careless and has ruined the lives of many ambitious students. One of my friends shared his experiences of studying there. He was very adamant about getting good scores and studying hard in the first year. Despite that, he scored average marks around 68%. In fact, everyone around him got similar marks. Many got demotivated, and many even left while some decided to attempt exams without any preparations and surprisingly got similar results.

Despite it all, he decided to give himself a second chance and studied more rigorously in the second year but the results were similar. This destroyed his ambitions and dreams so he finally gave up in the 3rd and 4th year and decided to enjoy his college life instead.

He later realized that students who were deliberately marked failed to earn more exam fees which in turn was used in improving the infrastructure. This tactic ruined so many lives and it became very challenging to get an interview call from an MNC due to poor scores.

I hope this situation is taken care of as soon as possible so that the lives and dreams of students can be saved!

Is there an option to leave two subjects in JNTUH?

Hirdekh JainStudied at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (2016)

Yes,JNTUH has an option of leaving 2 subjects. But that does not mean you don’t have to appear for the exams in these subjects. It’s just that these two subjects are spared from being included in the final grade calculation.

So you have to study all the subjects and appear for their respective exams. Ultimately when the result of your final semester exams is out, you can leave two subjects in which you have backlogs. For this, you will have to fill out the form beforehand. Also, this is subject to certain conditions such as

  • These 2 subjects should be non-technical
  • The credit value of these 2 subjects should be equivalent to 8.

In such case case, you don’t have a single back, then non-technical subjects having the least value are removed automatically. The final percentage is calculated after removing these subjects only.

How many marks do we need to get a distinction in JNTUH?

Sayantani Barman
Sai Kumar DhillonStudied at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (2016)

As per the new  R-09 and R-13 regulations, JNTUH students won't be getting a distinction for each and every subject. Once their 4th-year 2nd Semester results are out,  a Consolidated Marks Memo(CMM) will be issued to them. This CMM includes all their semesters' subjects and respective marks. This Memo will also include the marks of the 2 excluded subjects, the marks of which will not be included in the final result.

In JNTUH, calculating your grade is quite easy. Grades are calculated on the basis of the percentage calculated on the score that you have secured in all the semesters combined to the total mark of 5250. Students are graded as follows

  • Those who have secured a 69.5% and above get “First Class with Distinction”.
  • Those who have secured between 59.5% and 69.5% get “First Class”.

This process continues further for subsequent percentages.

However, the procedure might be different if you are following the R-16 regulations. Under the new grading system, you can check your Subject Performance Standards like Outstanding, Excellent, etc. You can also see this SGPA which stands for Sessional/Semester Grade Point Average which can be converted in percentage format. Additionally, there will be a CGPA which is calculated as such

CGPA=(SGPA1+SGPA2+.....+of all semester)/(SCP1+SCP2+.....+of all semesters)

Here, SCP stands for Sessional/Semester Credit Points set to all subjects. Overall, students getting 6.95 and above in their CGPA/OGPA, will be given distinction along with First Class, O, A+, A, any other grade, etc.

I have a choice of joining JNTUH or CBIT this year. I can also repeat to go for the NIT or BITS the next year. What should I do now?

Aishwarya ShastriLives in Hyderabad

A close friend of mine is currently pursuing an integrated program at JNTU and is not at all pleased with its standard of education. He stated a few points that clarified his stance further

  • Majority of the subjects are taught by lecturers and not the actual professors. They have no interest in teaching and teach only a handful of subjects and leave the rest to untrained and underqualified lecturers.
  • Introduction of new courses like IDP, IDDMP, IIDDMP is greatly affecting the quality of education. The high batch size affects the student-teacher ratio and the limited resources cannot be availed by everyone.
  • JNTU  5-year course placements are very poor. CBIT has better companies than JNTU that offer better packages and opportunities.
  • JNTU has a better location than CBIT which is in a remote location and has limited outside life.
  • JNTU has no transport facilities so this might be a major obstacle throughout your program.

In all, I would suggest you go for CBIT as it seems to be in a better position than JNTU both in terms of placements as well as quality of education.

Do we get a refund if we pass the revaluation at JNTUH?

Nikita GuhaB.Tech from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad

No, you won’t receive any refund if you pass the revaluation at JNTUH. However, if you are confident that you should have passed the exam, and you still fail the revaluation, you can go for the challenging revaluation. However, you will need to pay 10,000 rupees for the same.

You will receive the xerox of your answer sheet during the challenging revaluation at JNTUH. If you pass during this, you can claim a refund on the entire cost of both revaluations. But there is a catch. You can claim the refund only if your marks get increased by 15%.

But you can not claim a refund for the revaluation at JNTUH even if you pass.

Can a graduate from Muffakham Jah college, CBIT, JNTU and Osmania university compare these four universities briefly considering all the facts.

Sakshi Gupta
Aditi DeshpandeLives in Pune,Maharashtra

My brother studies Mechanical Engineering at Muffakham Jah College.

So, here is some information about MJ College-

  1. MJ college lacks a hostel facility. But that’s not a big issue, as you can live in nearby areas like Ameerpet or SR nagar. These areas have plenty of private hostels and bachelor rooms, which are available at moderate prices.
  2. There is no hostel on campus, so there’s no mess food availability at MJ.
  3. The college has a decent placement record. Companies like Deloitte, Infosys and Wipro, among others, frequently make recruitments from the campus.
  4. MJ is affiliated with Osmania University. CBIT is autonomous.

I hope you select the best college according to your goals and dreams.
