Must Check:

Ques. How do I know the topper of CAT 2023?

Ans. You can know the details of the topper of CAT 2023 on the result date on this page. Note that IIM does not provide the names and marks of the toppers with a 100 percentile but only the number of candidates who have secured the same. Based on media sources and news updates, we have provided you with the details of all the toppers of CAT 2023.

Ques. How do I get a 99.99 percentile in CAT?

Ans. Getting a 99.99 percentile in CAT requires a high score. Based on this year’s exam difficulty level and the high number of test takers, you can expect a score between 98-99 to get a 99.99 percentile. This figure is likely to change depending on the relative performance of all the 2.88 lakh test-takers. If we check CAT topper marks 2022, only 22 of the 2.22 lakh candidates secured a 99.99 percentile. So, it is not going to be easy to get into the CAT 2023 99.99 percentile club.

Ques. Can I apply for IIFT’s MBA in International Business with CAT 2023 scores?

Ans. Yes, beginning this year, you can apply for IIFT’s MBA (IB) 2024-26 course based on your CAT score 2023. Previously, IIFT conducted its own entrance test for admission but that has been done away with from this year.

CAT Preparation Tips

CAT Topper Preparation Strategy and Plan

All CAT 2023 aspirants have their own preparation strategy that they adopt with the hope to get admission to Top B-School in India. In order to crack a national-level management exam and to score the right percentile to get a call from IIMs, follow these simple tips given below by the toppers.

  • Time-bound practice: One of the major factors that contribute to the CAT being considered as the toughest management entrance exam to crack in the country, is the restricted time available to solve the questions in the exam. Although maximum questions asked in CAT are basic in nature, what makes them difficult is the restricted time frame available to the candidates to complete the exam. Therefore, make sure to include time-bound practice sessions as part of your CAT Preparation Strategy. Moreover, make sure to practice this with MCQs and non-MCQs type questions, as it will help you build the right speed at which you should respond to the questions.
  • CAT Syllabus Deadlines: The biggest challenge for first time CAT Aspirants is the vast nature of the CAT Syllabus. With the huge syllabus and topics to cover, MBA aspirants have to manage their time as well as to ensure that they complete the entire syllabus to meet the deadlines set by them. Having the deadlines to complete the syllabus and achieve the targets will keep you motivated during the next two months which is the most critical phase of your preparation time. Check Detailed CAT Syllabus 2023
  • Avoid referring to too many Books: There are hundreds of books in the market which claim to be the ultimate guide to crack CAT. But too many books with different concepts always create confusion for the aspirants. Therefore, Toppers recommend that you refer to only two good books on any subject or topic for CAT preparation. But ensure that these two reference books should be able give you all the necessary knowledge about the topics asked in the exam. Read More Best Books for CAT 2023
  • Don’t stick to one topic for long: Another biggest challenge for MBA aspirants is to make the decision of actually skipping a topic if it’s too tough to crack. However, as per the CAT Topper it is a wrong strategy to do. If you are unable to understand a topic during one sitting, wandering over it for even longer will only waste your time. So there you have to take a conscious call of letting the topic go and start on the new one. Therefore, remember the cardinal rule, don’t stick to one topic for long, whether you are able to crack it or not.
  • Take Mock Tests and subscribe to test series: Take and subscribe test series offered topic wise on the regular basis. Also, Mock tests are the ultimate friend when it comes to CAT MBA Preparation. As it helps you not only to check and practice, but also gives you an insight into what’s actually working in your preparation strategy and helps you to realign the same for the upcoming days.
  • Seek Experts Help: CAT is the national level management entrance exam, which essentially means that it is not enough to beat yourself. In order to grap that exclusive seat at IIMs, you need to beat your competitors and therefore the preparation and performance have to be gauged in comparison to others. So talk to experts about your plan and preparation strategy and analyse if there is any way in which you can improve your performance. Mentors, online tutorials will help you find gaps in your strategy and fill them in time to ensure that you outperform others on the exam day.
  • Build a Peer study Group: Many aspirants believe in working alone, especially during the final phase of their CAT Preparation i.e. the last two months. During this final phase, one can either completely lose their focus and get into depression or get over-confident with their preparation strategy. In order to avoid this, work with a motivated set of people who are able to motivate and challenge you to put your best foot forward. So, make sure you make a peer study group for CAT preparation, especially if CAT is going to be your first attempt.

CAT Toppers Strategy

Tips and Tricks from various CAT Toppers are tabulated below. Students can follow it for better performance in the examination.

CAT Topper CAT Toppers Strategy and Interview
Parul Arora (CAT 2022, 99.93%ile) Start preparing early, likely in April with primary focus on clearing basic concepts followed by regular practice. Check CAT 2022 Topper Parul’s Full Interview
Kushagra (CAT 2022, 99.7%ile) Practice on a regular basis and do not forget to analyze your mistakes. Check CAT 2022 Topper Kushgra’s Full Interview
Ankan Biswas (CAT 2022, 99.9%ile) Attempt all sorts of mock tests to get efficient. Prioritize your strengths and then move on to the weaker sections. Check CAT 2022 Topper Ankan’s Full Interview
Chirag Gupta (CAT 2021, 100%ile)

“I focused on getting my basics right at the beginning of the preparations. I focused on doing only easy questions first, and later attempted the harder ones. I took about 50-60 CAT mock tests, as I think that it is probably the most important aspect of CAT preparation. My exam day strategy was just to stay calm and not think too much about the results. Be honest with yourselves during the preparation. It is important for you to not overestimate as well as underestimate your understanding of the concepts.”

Kshitiz Singhal (CAT 2020, 99.99%ile)

“I started my preparation by knowing about the CAT exam pattern and syllabus. Once I completed the syllabus, I started taking mock tests. I bought study materials and took a mock test series from noted institutes for practice purpose. I worked on my approach to solving the questions. I also analysed my mock tests in detail and identified the areas where I needed to improve. My suggestion for the aspirants is to work on your fundamentals, speed and accuracy.

Somansh Chordia (CAT 2019, 100%ile) “I believe what helped me a lot while CAT preparation was the fact that I loved CAT’s pattern and realised that the kind of skills I needed to develop. It’s good and important to compare your performance with others as essentially it’s a competitive exam but one should not get demoralised or overconfident in the process. So it would be best to keep competing with yourself and periodically comparing with others just to know where you stand and probably learn from others who are performing better or have improved a lot. I strongly believe in the idea that we can achieve only what we can imagine and actually believe in. So believe in yourself and the fact that wonders are possible.
Rounak Majumdar (CAT 2018, 100%ile “My entire preparation was based on taking mock tests. I attempted two mock tests every week and around 40 mock tests in a year. I used to do practice tests on the weekends and analyse my results during the week. Analysing mock tests are more important than actually appearing for them; it helped me understand my shortfalls and device a test strategy. Time management is the key. One should approach the easy questions first and maintain accuracy while gaining speed.
Chhavi Gupta (CAT 2017, 100%ile) "Start giving mocks as soon as you start your preparation and keep a track of your own strengths and weaknesses. Focus on increasing accuracy to around 75-80% for VARC and 90-100% in LRDI and QA, and then increase your speed and number of attempts. Most importantly, stay calm on the final day. I think CAT is more of an aptitude test, and does not really require a rigorous coaching. But if one is unable to find much motivation and persistence in preparation on their own then it is better to join an institute for better guidance and a proper timetable.
Avidipto Chakraborty (CAT 2016, 100%ile)

“CAT is a random exam, in the sense that one wouldn’t know what questions will be asked. It is necessary to attempt mocks as they familiarize you with and prepare you for all kinds of scenarios-easy, moderate, difficult, lengthy, vague etc. If you’ve attempted good enough numbers of mocks, nothing will surprise you. It helps you keep your cool while writing the test. Find people around you who are preparing to take the exam. Be it social media or your own friend circle, connect with people who are doing the same thing as you are, to keep the motivation going.

Frequently Asked Questions

CAT Toppers 2023 FAQs

Ques. If CAT Toppers have scored the same percentile then in that case what will be the tie-breaking criteria?

Ans. CAT Toppers scoring the same percentiles will not affect their admission to the college. Also, there are no tie-breaking criteria for the candidates scoring the same percentiles.
