COEP M.Tech Admission 2024 is going to begin soon. Admissions to the program will be based on GATE exam scores and state-level counselling conducted by DTE Maharashtra. The Maharashtra MTech application form is expected to be released in June 2024. After the submission of the application form, a merit list will be published on the official website based on the GATE scores of the candidates. 

COEP offers an MTech program at the PG level in 18 different specializations. These programs are offered under 10 departments namely Civil, Mechanical, Metallurgy, Electrical, Production, Electronics & Communication, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, and Mechatronics. For admission to the MTech program at COEP, candidates must have passed a Bachelor's Degree in the relevant field of Engineering and Technology with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved category). Along with this, students will have to qualify for the GATE exam and further register themselves for the Maharashtra MTech counselling for the seat allocation process. 

COEP MTech Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to gain admission in COEP, the applicants must have:

  • A BE/ B.Tech Degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from any university/ college approved by the AICTE. Applicants from SC/ ST/ OBC and other underserved communities can be relaxed by 5% on the aggregate marks.
  • A positive GATE score is required.

All the non-GATE candidates will have to undergo an entrance test conducted by the department to which he/ she is applying. Passing this test will be mandatory for admission. 

Admissions for the master’s program in Engineering is done via the state Counselling body. In this case, it is done by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) of Maharashtra. Given below are the complete details of the Maharashtra MTech counselling process:

Counelling Process: The Maharashtra MTech counselling takes place to allocate seats to the students at the institute. On the release of the application form, students will have to register online through the official website www.mahacet.org within the deadline set by the counselling authority. After filling out the application form, candidates will have to report to the local facilitation center to get their documents verified. Further, the authority will release the provisional merit list based on the candidates’ GATE scores. Candidates can submit the grievance if they find any discrepancies and the authority will release the final merit list on evaluating them. 

Seat Allocation Process: The seat allotment procedure is conducted in 3 rounds (CAP 1, 2, and 3) by the counselling authority. If the candidates are satisfied with the allotted seats and do not wish to participate further in the CAP rounds, are required to freeze their seats. To complete the admission process, students will have to go to the allotted institute to submit all the required documents and pay the admission fees.

Ques. What are COEP M.Tech leave rules?

Ans. An M Tech student is eligible for a maximum 30 days of leave including medical and all other leaves, in an academic year.

Ans. This category refers to candidates who are working on sponsored projects in the Institute and admitted to the M. Tech. program and the duration of the project at the time of admission should be at least 2 years in which this category of students may be registered on a full-time or a part-time basis.
