The course as a well is vast yet designed to prepare the students to be great future engineers. The syllabus is more than that of other colleges and GATE syllabus and there are also quite a number of labs and sessionals in each semester, At the end of each sem, there's a semester exam plus there are class tests in between sem courses. The course as a whole is difficult but designed to shape you into a great person. I would suggest including some modern subjects in the syllabus and excluding the old-school ones.

First of all, Electrical engineering is one of my favorite department and due to the core department, it opens most of the way for campusing and other purposes. Like the IT sector, power plants, Govt, and services. Some of the labs also provide the real-life and industry-level experiences. In the case of course curriculum it should be upgraded to the latest subjects and curriculum and by teaching method, a smart board should also be used. The semester exam question level is moderate to hard, but is also be ok, timing is perfect.

My course is instrumentation and electronics. For anyone who is interested in core domain of instrumentation or electronics it is a wonderful choice. My first choice was electronics and telecommunication engineering and second choice was this and third choice was electrical engineering. In this course you will have to option to go into core or software or consultancies. We have two CTs ( Class Test ) and one semester exam in one semester.

Power engineering is something that you wil be getting the exposure of Mechanical and electrical engineering simultaneously. If someone is interested in both, they can choose it. Carriculam simply prepare you to have the holistic idea of 'Power', like from how the power is generated to the transmission of power. Thermal power generation is the highlight of the course but other new technologies is also covered in the course. But I believe the modern ai and something realted to coding should be there.

The atmosphere and senior junior interaction will help you to get excellent placement . College curriculum and labs are made for real word problem solving . The exam frequency is very high . No attendence rule .

The course curriculum is a bit tough yet all the questions are closely associated to the questions asked in the previous years..The level of difficulty is a bit on the higher side which demands us to understand the conceps deeply and we have 2 semesters in a year which has roughly around 18 weeks of classes including internals for a semester

The course curriculum is extremely well designed and mapped. It is even better than some of the IITs in our country. The Mechanical department have the curriculum very well mapped which help students not only in proper understanding but also in various competitions like GATE
Pursuing a course at Jadavpur University is quite affordable, as opposed to other universities. It is incredible to believe that a university that ranks among the top 15 engineering colleges of India, costs less than most universities around the nation.
Here is a brief highlight of different fees in JU.
This was the typical fee structure followed a few years back. Recently, there can be a 5% - 10% increment regarding the same. As per the recent update, the 1st year course fee for B.Tech at JU is 2,400. You can evaluate the expenditure to be around 1 lakh for the entire B.Tech course, incorporating the tuition fees, study materials, hostel fees, mess fees, alongside other miscellaneous expenses.
On the other hand, JU has a great placement record. A typical student from the CSE department can receive an average salary package of about INR 19 LPA, while it is INR 8 LPA for departments of ECE, EEE, and IT. Lastly, the average salary package is INR 6 LPA for departments concerning Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Metallurgy, Construction, and Production.
I have seen many students prefer JU to new IITs because of the experience and legacy it holds in contrast to recently established IITs. None of these students regret their decision of choosing JU over IIT.
JU has the upper hand in terms of both placements and the quality of research work here. In fact, top NITs, BITS, JU, DTU, NSIT, IIITs, and such institutes are all better options than most of the newer IITs. These institutes have good credibility owing to their strong alumni network thus providing better opportunities. Those who prefer to stay on the safe side give more preference to these institutes than newer IITs.
The new IITs are expected to reach heights in the future and only then will you be able to benefit from their IIT tag. As of now, they lack credibility and opportunities.
Ultimately, it’s your call to make because you can even avail the best opportunities through minimal resources.
Any college can be good for competitive programming. It all relies on you to educate yourself, to learn new strategies, and to spend hours coding.
Lastly, don't support the myth that the only way to prove yourself as a coder is competitive programming. There are other coding fields as well. In this sense, do not consider that there was no "real coder" in IIEST because there was no competitive coding pattern previously in IIEST (BESU back then).
Some of the alumni of the institute are working in top companies in India and overseas and have never been interested in competitive coding.
