The I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University BCA Course is offered for a duration of 3 years divided into 6 semesters and BCA Lateral Entry for 2 years. - The I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University offers its BCA program for a duration of three years and a lateral entry program for a 2-year duration.
- The regular BCA program consists of 6 semesters while the BCA (lateral entry) program comprises 4 semesters.

PTU, BCA Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the BCA course, the candidate needs to fulfill any one of the following two criteria:
- The candidate shall have passed the 10+2 or its equivalent examination in any stream conducted by a recognized Board/University/Council.
- The candidate must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination in any stream conducted by a recognized Board / University / Council.
OR
- Having passed the Matriculation examination AND have also passed a three-year Diploma in any Trade from Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Chandigarh, or such Examination from any other recognized State Board of Technical Education, or Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology, Longowal.
To be eligible for the BCA (lateral entry) course, the candidate needs to fulfill any one of the following two criteria:
- The candidates must have passed the Matriculation examination
- The candidate has also passed 3 Year Diploma in any Trade from the Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Chandigarh, or such Examination from any other recognized State Board of Technical Education, or Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering &. Technology, Longowal.
OR
- Passing the 10+2 examination with I year Diploma in Computer Application/IT (or equivalent) from a recognized University with Mathematics as a course at l0+2 or DIT/DCA level.
PTU, BCA Admission Guidelines
The admissions into the course will be based upon merit marks or marks secured by the student in the entrance test. The merit list will be prepared and displayed on the official website. Based on this list, applicants may be called for the counseling process. Seat allotment will entirely be dependent upon the availability of seats.
How to Apply Online?
- Go to the official website of PTU
- Register yourself with a new username and log in with your email ID and password.
- Candidates would be required to confirm their application form at the facilitation center
- On the official website, the provisional and final merit lists will be available
- Candidates may submit their grievances during the display of the provisional list at the facilitation center
- Candidates then have to log in and confirm their form by filling in their college and course preferences
- The CAP counseling is conducted in 3 rounds and after the allotment of college; candidates have to report to their institutes in order to confirm their admission.
How to Apply Through Direct Admission:
- The candidates may ask for the college brochure and the application form from the administrative office after paying the application fee
- The application fee can be paid via demand draft in favor of "I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University" payable at Jalandhar.
- After filling out the application form, the candidate may get his/her duly filled form examined at the Admission Cell or Admission Data Center.
- Candidates may contact the Admission Center In-charge, in case of any difficulty.
- Now submit the application form with all the necessary documents at the Administrative Office/Admission Data Center and get the payment slip from them.
- After this, the candidate may collect the confirmation letter from the Admission Charge.

- The crowd is on bit lower side as the college is located in tier 3 locality
- The parking facilities for student vehicles is good if you have two wheeler but if you have four wheeler u just got ample amount only no security guard nothing

The curriculum is up to date and beneficial for placements and helps to crack semester exams easily. The frequency and timings of exams is not that much difficult, it is as easy as a piece of cake for a student, who is serious about his studies.

- The college crowd is amazing. You can get a good exposure with the seniors. Teachers are also good they can teach you very well. The computer labs are also amazing with new and advance computer systems. Teachers now teach you with the projectors
- There are more shops than just a canteen. The food is overall good. I was a day scholar so i dont know much about the mess food but as per my hostel friend review the food is good.
Dislikes
- The most irritated thing was the account management of this college. They will not update the fee balance and can add unnecessary charges. They will remove those charges but you have to waste you time standing in line.
- The MST date sheet will come to you a day before the exam. They will suddenly tell you that your exams will be conducted tomorrow or day after tomorrow. Due to this, no one gets a proper time to study and prepare
Course Curriculum Overview:
When i enrolled in the college, i immediately got the course curriculum for my whole graduation. The course curriculum is good and easy to understand. Every details has been mentioned and also the marking scheme. Teachers will also teach you accordingly. There is only one problem. Once you will get your curriculum, it will not get updated (like in documents). You will get to hear that some topic has been removed.

- I dislike some factors like not deeply teaching syllabus.

The course curriculum in term of relevance is average as they only teach basic in BCA and teachers also know a little about it only. The syllabus is not upto mark according to me as students does not get proper skills in specific subjects.
