Course Details
The I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University BCA Course is offered for a duration of 3 years divided into 6 semesters and BCA Lateral Entry for 2 years. Lateral entry to BCA courses shall be authorized as per the Punjab Govt./IKGPTU guidelines. IKGPTU offers the BCA course with an intake capacity of 60 seats.

- The I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University offers its BCA program for a duration of three years and a lateral entry program for a 2-year duration.
- The regular BCA program consists of 6 semesters while the BCA (lateral entry) program comprises 4 semesters.
- The university accepts the scores of national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main for granting admission into the BCA Programme.

PTU, BCA Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the BCA course, the candidate needs to fulfill any one of the following two criteria:
- The candidate shall have passed the 10+2 or its equivalent examination in any stream conducted by a recognized Board/University/Council.
- The candidate must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination in any stream conducted by a recognized Board / University / Council.
OR
- Having passed the Matriculation examination AND have also passed a three-year Diploma in any Trade from Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Chandigarh, or such Examination from any other recognized State Board of Technical Education, or Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology, Longowal.
To be eligible for the BCA (lateral entry) course, the candidate needs to fulfill any one of the following two criteria:
- The candidates must have passed the Matriculation examination
- The candidate has also passed 3 Year Diploma in any Trade from the Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Chandigarh, or such Examination from any other recognized State Board of Technical Education, or Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering &. Technology, Longowal.
OR
- Passing the 10+2 examination with I year Diploma in Computer Application/IT (or equivalent) from a recognized University with Mathematics as a course at l0+2 or DIT/DCA level.
PTU, BCA Admission Guidelines
The admissions into the course will be based upon merit marks or marks secured by the student in the entrance test. The merit list will be prepared and displayed on the official website. Based on this list, applicants may be called for the counseling process. Seat allotment will entirely be dependent upon the availability of seats.
How to Apply Online?
- Go to the official website of PTU
- Register yourself with a new username and log in with your email ID and password.
- Candidates would be required to confirm their application form at the facilitation center
- On the official website, the provisional and final merit lists will be available
- Candidates may submit their grievances during the display of the provisional list at the facilitation center
- Candidates then have to log in and confirm their form by filling in their college and course preferences
- The CAP counseling is conducted in 3 rounds and after the allotment of college; candidates have to report to their institutes in order to confirm their admission.
How to Apply Through Direct Admission:
- The candidates may ask for the college brochure and the application form from the administrative office after paying the application fee
- The application fee can be paid via demand draft in favor of "I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University" payable at Jalandhar.
- After filling out the application form, the candidate may get his/her duly filled form examined at the Admission Cell or Admission Data Center.
- Candidates may contact the Admission Center In-charge, in case of any difficulty.
- Now submit the application form with all the necessary documents at the Administrative Office/Admission Data Center and get the payment slip from them.
- After this, the candidate may collect the confirmation letter from the Admission Charge.

Course Curriculum Overview:
The course curriculum in term of relevance is average as they only teach basic in BCA and teachers also know a little about it only. The syllabus is not upto mark according to me as students does not get proper skills in specific subjects.

- College held football, badminton, kabbadi and cricket tournament every with exciting prizes for winners
Dislikes
- Campus size is not much good, it should be more spacious
- Canteen foods taste very bad and their menu are also same from several years, it should be updated and new dishes should be provided

I was very interested in it sector but in my +2 I had not opted science, so I finally decided to take admission in BCA . There is no any entrance test to take admission in this course , the eligibility is 12th pass from any stream with minimum 45%

I always want to study in malout institute of management and information technology, that's way I pursue BCA at mimit . Teacher guide me for my decision. Over all course is first class but I think they only need to update there PC in labs .

- Public transports are big problem for day scholar

The course curriculum is very good. Very interesting subject are available in the syllabus. You will not get bored with them. Mostly subject in the course are practical knowledgeable. All u need to is just focus on them.

I had some interest in computer and coding so that convinced me to take the course, the efforts of college to clear our concepts regarding course are basic and i believe most of it dependa on students learning power

- Hostels of the college are not up to the mark and needs to be improved.

The course curriculum of the college is good and well-structured and the faculty is also skilled and well trained. In the first semester, the students are taught the same subjects irrespective of their branches, and after that, the curriculum gets divided based on respective branches. I choose BCA because I want to go in this sector . I found about this course in SBS college and clear all my doubts and then I join the course . The college and teachers helps us to grow in every field, related course and other activities with helps us in our further life. All things about the college and courses is good but somehow college have to improve in their faculty who teach us coding .Teachers are good but sometimes our classes not going well otherwise all things are going so good.

- Guest faculty is allocated to BCA mostly which is the worst in teaching. Students only go to classes for attendance

I chose this course for the rich subjects offered. This course covers various basic as well as advance topics. However not in depth as compared to BTech CSE. This course covers subjects like OOP, C, C++, Python, DSA, etc. 2 mid sem exams are done, and 1 final exam per semester. And lab work.
