VTU MCA Eligibility Criteria
Admissions to MCA course shall be open to candidates who have passed Bachelor degree with 50% of marks in aggregate of all the years of the degree examinations with mathematics or statistics or computer sciences or computer programming or computer application or business mathematics or business statistics as one of the electives or optional at degree.

Selection Criteria
- Candidates seeking admission to the MCA program need to appear and qualify for Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) Conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA)
- The merit list for admission at the VTU is prepared based on marks obtained by the students in the Karnataka PGCET
- Admission processes are through online and offline mode and forms can be filled as provided and directed by the college itself.
- By submitting all the required details and paying the required amount of fees admissions will be offered to candidates after the successful verification of documents and payment of fees at the VTU Belgaum.

VTU MCA Course Details
The 2 year MCA program curriculum offers courses and subjects that enhance student’s abilities to employment and/or self-employment opportunities, management skills, Statistical analysis, fiscal expertise, etc.
- In the first year, course work has 50 credits with 18 courses in total
- In the second year, course work has 50 credits with 12 courses in total
- As a part of the course Research Methodology & IPR, presenting the seminar is mandatory
- In the IInd and IIIrd Semester students can choose electives as per their own preferences.
- All the students have to undergo a mandatory internship of 4 weeks during the vacation of the IIIrd semester to gain practical exposure to industrial work.
- The internship shall be considered as a head of passing and shall be considered for the award of the degree
- The candidate should carry out the project in any industry or R&D institution or educational institution under a guide/co-guide.
- During project work evaluation there shall be three project presentations each to be considered for 5 marks (total of 15 marks) and a final presentation for 15 marks
- The student has to publish a research paper in an indexed journal/conference. Publications follow the Thesis

Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET)
PGCET is a state-level entrance test conducted every year by Karnataka Entrance Authority. Based on merit obtained in PGCET candidates are offered PG admissions to MBA, MCA, ME, M.Tech, M.Arch programs. The eligibility criteria for applying to PGCET is undergraduate degree in relevant discipline from a recognized university. There are slight nuances in eligibility criteria depending on fields of study. For the MCA program, the eligibility criteria are undergraduate degree with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer with 50% aggregate for general category and 45% for reserved category (SC/ST/OBC). Ans. Yes, The project is compulsory to be prepared individually by the student for the duration of a minimum of 4 months or the duration of that semester. The project should be original and not derivative in nature.
Ques. What are the assessment tools used by the coordinator for the Professional Core Courses of the VTU MCA program?
Ans. The course coordinator selects suitable assessment tools for continuous evaluation such as weekly Multiple Choice Questions quiz, high cognitive level questions as an assignment, and case study questions useful for learning and its application. Average marks of three internal tests are considered for CIE (Courses Internal Assessment) along with other continuous evaluations.

- Majority of the teachers are having a weird sence of teaching which we can't even understand properly
- My PG is near to college but, we have to walk around extra 500 meters from the college gate to our class

The pressure from the college will either make you stay in a particular place without growing or you will degrade your performance They is no learning environment in the college for coders in MCA department but the engineering BTech students are way beyond our imagination The cource that we study in the college is actually not applicable in real world as the java applet feature is depricated in java latest version, but our board chose to include it. So basically we are still stuck in the 10 year old syllabus for now Exams conducted are in a proper manner without any disturbance, and I we study then there is no difficulty.

- It is a quite good college if you consider in tire 2 -3 level colleges, because they provide some good placement opportunities and also it is easily accessible thorough bus and even metro station is also exactly opposite to college

- There is no extra activities, no ground, no proper canteen facilities, the management is not maintaining the college campus properly, and there is no college events or any extra cultural activities

The exams are moderate in difficulty, balancing between theoretical knowledge and practical application. More focus on continuous assessments and project-based evaluations would reduce the pressure of final exams and give students.
