IIT (ISM) Dhanbad MTech admissions 2024 are currently ongoing. Admissions are based on a GATE Score followed by COAP counselling. The date of the Written Test/ Interview for the Sponsored Candidates is June 23, 2024 (Tentative).

IIT Dhanbad offers an MTech program in 30 different specializations for 2 years with a total intake of 746 seats. IIT(ISM) offers admission in MTech in three different modes: Candidates with GATE scores, IIT Graduates with BTech degrees, and candidates sponsored by government organizations/reputed Industrial Organizations/ Academic Institutions. IIT Dhanbad MTech Eligibility and Selection Criteria

To be eligible for admission to MTech at IIT Dhanbad, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

For GATE Category: Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent or a Master's degree in Science/Arts/Commerce, from the institutes recognized by UGC/AICTE/Government. The candidates must have a valid GATE score and a minimum 60% or CGPA/CPI of 6.0 on a 10-point scale in the qualifying degree for UR/OBC candidates.

For IIT Graduates: Candidates graduating/ graduated from IITs with a BTech Degree having a CGPA of 8.00 and above (on a scale of 10) can apply without a GATE Score.

For Sponsored Candidates: Must be an Indian National. The candidates working in private firms/organizations have to submit their latest EPF statement. The applications of candidates sponsored by the organizations under an MoU between the Institute and/or under the QIP program shall be eligible for admission. For sponsored candidates having bachelor's degrees from Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) having a CGPA of 8.0 or above, the requirement of GATE/NET is waived.

IIT Dhanbad MTech Admission 2024

IIT M.Tech seats of the Gate category are filled through the GATE cutoff and COAP counselling process. IIT BTech graduates are selected based on Departmental review and qualifying examination merit. The non-refundable application cost for GATE applicants and IIT graduates is INR 600 for OBC, SC, ST, PWD, and transgender candidates, and INR 300 for UR, EWS, and OBC candidates for each program. All sponsored candidates must pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 2000/-per program. The selection committee selects Sponsored candidates based on Department review and Recommendation.

How To Apply?

• Visit the IIT Dhanbad admission portal
• Register for the MTech program
• Fill up the application form with academic details, work experience (For Sponsored candidates), and GATE score
• GATE Candidates will also need to register through the GATE COAP 2023 Portal. 
• Select the specialization interested in applying (Allowed to Choose up to 10 preferences).
• Upload necessary document
• Pay the application fee of INR 500 for UR/OBC/EWS, INR 250 for SC/ST/Women candidates, and INR 2000 for Non-Sponsored Candidates. (On Each Program)

The candidates can successfully apply for GATE COAP 2023 by simply following the below:

• Step 1: Visit the official website of COAP @ coap.iitd.ac. and click on the registration link.
• Step 2: Fill in details such as their GATE Registration Number, GATE Paper Code, GATE score, and date of birth.
• Step 3: Click on “Validate” and enter the registered email id and mobile number.
• Step 4:Click on “Submit to Register”.
• Step 5: After the registration, candidates will obtain a Login ID and Password for COAP Login.
• Step 6: After the completion of the above-given steps, the candidate can access the information on offers made by the participating Institutes.
• Step 7: In the end, the admission offer will be uploaded to the COAP website.

IIT Dhanbad MTech Scholarship

IIT Dhanbad M.Tech students are offered a large number of scholarship support. IIT Dhanbad also offers Financial assistantships to the MTech enrolled through GATE and IIT Graduate categories. Students with assistantships need to engage in the academic activities of their respective departments. Such students must work for 8 hours per week. Acecedmi activities include laboratory demonstrations, tutorials, and evaluation of assignments. The scholarships offered by IIT Dhanbad are both government and institute-sponsored. Some scholarship details are given below:

• ISS Scholarship: A maximum of 10 Best students of All UG and PG programs are awarded the ISS Scholarship.
• Merit Cum Means Scholarship: Students from all disciplines are eligible for 25% scholarship and 10% Freeship on a Merit basis.
• ISMAA (ISM 1969 Batch) Research Awards: Under this scholarship, 2 students are awarded from the Mining Engineering Department with INR 10 Lakhs.
