IIITDM- College Review

Remarks :

As an alumni, I believe the college played a major role in where I’m now. It’s a great place to learn and develop not only academically but in social aspects as well. The incubation centre in college helps students to be part and get more knowledge and experience in their initial years itself.

Course Curriculum Overview :

As the college name says, the college gives more importance to design and manufacturing related to the respective areas such as mechanical or electronics. And it helps students to industry tailored. The mandatory industrial internships also helps to improve the same. As it’s an autonomous institution, exams are conducted and evaluated by the faculties themselves.

Placement Experience :

The placement/internship stats or figures are good. As part of mandatory internship programs, many students get opportunities in respected companies such a FORD, HAL, ZOHO etc which I sure provided by the College itself with a decent stipend.

College Events :

The cultural and technical clubs of college conducts mustiple inter and intra college feats through out the year along with event nights such as freshers night and hostel nights. Also the other clubs such as social responsibility, adventure team conducts their sessions and events.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It’s feasible and meritorious students recieves scholarships as well. The annual fee for students is around 1.5L which is a decent figure. But lots of students receive scholarships by central or state governments.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

As I belonged to the top 10% of students joined that year, I revived Tution fee waiver scholarship provided by central government. And because of that, I only not had to pay for my hostel and mess expenses.

Campus Life :

As mentioned before, the clubs in collees are active through out the year with sessions my one or another club every week. Other than this there are clubs for every sport. And inter and intra sports events happen every year. There are house wise events as well where the whole college is divided into 6 houses and event happen through out the year. The labs in the college are fully equipped state of the art facilities. Itself open for students as well as research scholars whole week for academic purposes.

Hostel Facilities :

Then hostel infrastructure and facilities are top notch. There are 5 hostels out of that 3 are 14 floored buildings. And the hostel mess with a separate veg and non veg mess (both South Indian and North Indian food) are also available.

Alumni/Alumna :

The alumni network is becoming stronger now. Since last two years alumni meets happen regularly. And the alumni connections are used to bring companies to college for placements and internship. Also the students gets to interact with them to get clarity in their respective areas.

Admission :

As it is a national institute, admission is based on the JEE-Mains score and ranks. Once I got my JEE ranks, I went through the usual procedure of CSAB and got the colllege right after the first allotment.

Faculty :

The faculties are well experienced and masters in their area of expertise. All the faculties are PhD holders from prestigious institutions and active in research activities. Multiple research papers are published every year.

Placement Experience:

There were more than 100 companies opting to get people from our college. Infosys, CTS, TCS and many other companies and the campus drive takes place at almost for 2 to 3 months. There will be even heavy competition between companies who's gonna recruit first. There are options if you are not interested in placements too

Admission:

I got the Admission in this college based on 12th marks and Jee main. i got Jee main score of 130 and 12th marks of 95%. so based on this they will ready a common Merit list and publish the All India ranks. based on your AIR , you will be called for counseling. You have to go to the SASTRA campus, on your allotted counselling date and time and Book the Branch of your choice. This is the Admission process

Course Curriculum Overview:

The Course Curriculum is really good it's on par with Bits and Nit syllabus. It's well designed to both suit the students needs and also equip them well with the basic fundamental concepts which can further strengthen their core concepts knowledge . moreover , the syllabus is designed in such a way that it covers 85% of gate exam syllabus. so we can also appear for gate exam immediately after completing our course. The Exam structure is based on conceptual learning. one has to be well equipped with concepts in order to pass in the exams. We must not mug up at any point of time as SASTRA exams will test your concepts rather than ur memory capacity. It will have 3 Cia exams out of which the best 2 exam scores will be considered for internal assessment and then followed by final semester examination which consists of 100 marks out of which 50 will be considered for overall grading. This is the exam structure
