Course Curriculum Overview :
The Course Curriculum is really good it's on par with Bits and Nit syllabus. It's well designed to both suit the students needs and also equip them well with the basic fundamental concepts which can further strengthen their core concepts knowledge . moreover , the syllabus is designed in such a way that it covers 85% of gate exam syllabus. so we can also appear for gate exam immediately after completing our course. The Exam structure is based on conceptual learning. one has to be well equipped with concepts in order to pass in the exams. We must not mug up at any point of time as SASTRA exams will test your concepts rather than ur memory capacity. It will have 3 Cia exams out of which the best 2 exam scores will be considered for internal assessment and then followed by final semester examination which consists of 100 marks out of which 50 will be considered for overall grading. This is the exam structure
College Events :
We have events conducted throughout the year like kuruksastra ( Culturals ), daksh (technical), carpedium, utsav and seperate technical events for each department and we have food fest in our hostels. People from different states come here to study at Sastra so we have a very good exposure to new people and language. We have hostel scholarship, Dean's scholarship for every eligible candidate with an amount of 20,000/- minimum. Sastra also has NSS, NCC, Score, utsav to help people in villages around the college and they even help them by conducting many classes like tailoring. They even conduct blood camps and medical check ups to help people in the nearby village.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
It's very reasonable amount. Only 60,000 RS per sem fees which is very less compared to other colleges. Hostel fees comes around 10,000 RS per year. Mess fees comes around 3,500 RS per month. Apart from this small fees for sports and games , gym etc.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The scholarships are given to around 600 students a year based on their performance in the academics.Scholarship Dean's Merit list is given I was awarded 11550 rs as award for academic performance.We have hostel scholarship, Dean's scholarship for every eligible candidate with an amount of 20,000/- minimum
Campus Life :
SASTRA provides numerous opportunities for you to know yourself. SASTRA keeps their weekend very busy. Each weekend some events like workshops, department fest, cultural events, technical events, sports summit, etc. will be going on. If you miss these events you'll regret it for the rest of your college life. Most of the events were student organized. They have various clubs for cultural (studio, e-lits, Tamil Sangam, Insiders, Thandav, Telugu Lits, Hindi Lits, SMT, ), technical (RCS, MCS, TECS,) and social (Exnora, Score, Uphaar) causes.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel rooms are well maintained. The only issue is the quality of food served in the hostel is very bad. The suggestion box is not available in our institution, this is the only issue which I faced.
Alumni/Alumna :
The alumni members of Sastra University are more talented and experienced, and many of them are participating in the research process. It was a nice experience with a alumni and we can gain more knowledge from them. In these four years, we have to do many projects. The alumni guides the projects in a right manner; their teaching inspires us to study well in any subject. Of course, some faculty will discourage you, but we need to take good things from them, and this will motivate to succeed in front of them. They are not meant for not having any knowledge, they also have the very good knowledge, but their mindset will not sync with some of the students. There is a wide network of alumni along with the students.
Admission :
I got the Admission in this college based on 12th marks and Jee main. i got Jee main score of 130 and 12th marks of 95%. so based on this they will ready a common Merit list and publish the All India ranks. based on your AIR , you will be called for counseling. You have to go to the SASTRA campus, on your allotted counselling date and time and Book the Branch of your choice. This is the Admission process
Faculty :
We have the best faculty at Sastra who are Ph.D. holders they can understand students mentality and teach very well. They even take more effort than students to help us understand better and completes the syllabus before exams and gives us a proper guidance even for future. We have enough faculty in every departments with good knowledge in subject. We have NIT and IIT syllabus for best qualified engineers.The faculty members are very knowledgeable and all of them are minimum Ph.D. degree holders. They are all from reputed institution like IIT NIT. Very good and knowledgeable faculty members are there.
