BITS Goa — A to Z you need to know!

Dislikes

  • No cycles or personal vehicles allowed in the college

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course is well in touch with the upcoming technology that the world is witnessing. If you are a tech geek, this course is really good for you as it has coding element as well as the circuital element in its range.

Internships Opportunities :

The internship program has 2 parts in the college- one is practice school which includes unpaid internship just to improve work-ex of the student and the other is Summer internship program, which is the paid internship.

Placement Experience :

The college has one of the most impeccable placement statistics in the country. Numerous companies recruit from the college not only for Jobs, but also for internships. The median and average package for the college is well above 20 lakhs per annum.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees is roughly 2500000 for 4 years including the hostel and mess bills. There are scholarship provisions on the basis of BITSAT as well as Merit Scholarships. Therefore It becomes necessary to keep working hard year after year!

Campus Life :

Considering the variety of students that appear in the college, and considering the different cultural backgrounds they have, the college has many many clubs covering all the social and cultural and technical aspects. The infrastructure is mind blowing as well!

Hostel Facilities :

The hostels here are well above what we expect from an engineering college. The washrooms are neat and clean and the rooms are spacious as well. Firstees have double sharing room while all the seniors have single sharing rooms

Admission :

The admission process is simple, the college considers only BITSAT score and does not consider JEE scores. Personally I chose BITS Pilani over IIT Gandhinagar because of the Coding culture and the exposure that BITS Pilani offers is way ahead than any mediocre IIT.

Faculty :

The faculty of the college is truly remarkable and really experienced bunch of teachers. The teachers have been working for this college for quite a long time and are truly devoted for the betterment of the students. The exam systems and grading system is a little on the tougher side but it makes the students stronger.

Other Applied Colleges

IIT Gandhinagar - Indian Institute of Technology - [IITG] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Mechanical Engineering)

Because BITS was a better option for me

Placement Experience:

The placement at my college are decent. Students from Computer and IT department easily get placed at a company. The companies that frequently visit Goa engineering college are persistent, one shield, Infosys, tcs , Wipro etc . Each year there are around 300 offers received in the entire college. The highest package a student has got is 15lakhs per annum from TurtleShell. The average package is 6 LPA. Around 50% od the students get placed. I wish to work at a product based tech company after my graduation.

Placement Experience:

Final students are eligible for placements. Companies such as turtle mint, findem, Nokia, IFB, Samsung, Adani power, HDFC Bank, Tesco, Upskill, ONGC, Jio, and many more. Last year almost everyone got placed. Average package is 10 LPA. This year though placements were not as expected because of economic depression. Even after the placements, lay offs have become common. Hence to cope up with the competition we need to keep upskilling.

Remarks:

The college as a whole has good faculty, infrastructure and good placements. It can be one of the best colleges one could get (if not an IIT). The only negative (not exactly) remark would be the fee structure of the college
