Course Curriculum Overview :
From my JEE preparation, I was interested in Chemistry and Mathematics and I also get interested seeing the Chemical Engineering topics and decided to opt for it. The curriculum makes the students Industry ready. The teaching style of professors at IIT Bombay is amazing and they all do great research in their fields. They also plan lot of sessions and industry visits for the students to get themselves familiar with the industry.
Internships Opportunities :
The internship season begins in the 5th semester. Many companies take part in this. Some tech companies offer very high stipend (more than 6-7 lakhs per month). Many companies offer in the range of (Rs 50000 to Rs150000). Core companies in chemical Engineering like ITC offer Rs240000 stipend, Hindustan Unilever offer Rs250000 stipend, Piramal offers Rs125000 stipend
Placement Experience :
In the 7th semester, companies start coming for placements and by the end of 7th semester most students are placed. The average package is around 22LPA and the highest package is around 4 CPA(international offer). More than 350 companies visited and more than 1500 offers were made. The percentage of students getting placed is around 80%. My plan is also to get a decent placement in the field of Quant.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tuition fees and hostel fees combined for one semester is around Rs120000 and there is mess fees of around Rs22500 per semester. The total fees for 4years is around Rs1200000. The reserved category students get tuition fees waiver and also there is lot of scholarships available based on needs, merit, etc.
Campus Life :
The infrastructure at IIT Bombay is the best in India. We have the best Lecture halls, the best library, the best Gymkhana, indoors, etc. Our cultural fest Mood Indigo is Asia's largest college cultural fest and is held in December. Our technology fest Techfest is Asia's largest Technology fest and is also held in December.
Hostel Facilities :
In first year, students get pretty big and decent room but in the second and third year, we have to adjust dual occupancy in single sized room. However in the fourth year, we get single room which is also big. But the older hostel situations is not so good and difficult to live. However, the authorities are building newer hostels and the problem will be solved in the next 10 years.
Admission :
Firstly, I have to give JEE mains exam which is conducted twice in a year. After qualifying JEE Mains, I was eligible for the JEE Advanced exam and appeared for it. I secured a good AIR in JEE advanced. Then, I filled my college and branch preference which I got in the first round in the JoSaa Counseling and freezed it and accepted the offer. JEE Mains is conducted by NTA and its form can be found on their site. Its fees is around Rs750. JEE Advanced is conducted by different IITs every year and its fees is around Rs3500 for the general category. There is some fees waiver for the reserved and the female Category.
