Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum here while doing my graduation from IIT Bombay is quite relevant to the industries and it also provides the choices of minors and electives which can be taken up as one wishes allowing the student to not lose interest and also follow their passion if not the core studies. While the core subjects are compulsory, our college provides great opportunities in other fields as well.
Internships Opportunities :
Major internship opportunities are provided in the IT sector and they usually provide a quite high stipend. Some companies that visit our campus are Quadeye, Tower Research, etc. They provide quite a high stipend. Also, we have other college professors coming for their research projects and also, other sectors like consulting, finance, etc
Placement Experience :
Placements at college are very good. Companies come for each domain and one can go for any job that he/she wants. Students get internship opportunities from the second year onwards and job opportunities from their fourth year. Last year 384 companies visited and 1788 job offers were made. Around 94% of students were placed and the highest package was Rs 3.67 Cr. I plan to sit for the placements and take up a good job in the IT sector.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tuition fees and the other basic fees take up to Rs 119100 and other messing charges take up to Rs 22500 Leading to a total of Rs 141600 per semester and we have 8 such semesters. There are many scholarships provided by the government (mainly for SC/ST students) and also scholarships provided by alumni of the college making it quite affordable. Also, banks are ready to give educational loans as it is in the A+ category.
Campus Life :
Campus life here is great. The peer group that we get is a very good one and we get all sorts of experiences we want. One can learn any skills that he/she requires and wants to learn. The annual fests include Mood Indigo, TechFest, and E-summit which are Asia's largest fests in their aspect. We have all sports activities and the Inter-IIT competitions provide a big stage to show our talents and hard work.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel rooms here are quite small and the food provided is not so great but since the other aspects are good, one can compromise in this one aspect. We have 24*7 canteens on campus and one can order food from there or outside at any time. The registration is quite simple and can be done only after one gets successful admission.
Admission :
I had taken the JEE Mains and JEE Advanced examinations to get into IIT Bombay. The eligibility to take them is that you should be at least in class 12th and should pass class 12th successfully (with a minimum of 75% for some years) to get admission. The application form can be found on the NTA website and be filled out to take the examinations. JEE mains happens twice a year with 4-5 shifts for each session and JEE Advanced takes place once a year and only for the JEE mains qualified candidates. JEE mains is comparatively a simple exam whereas JEE Advanced is considered one of the toughest exams in India as well as the whole world.
