Hogwarts of Programming

Remarks :

Decent Management. Good Academics. Healthy competitive environment. Awesome placements. Recommended.

Entrance Preview :

IIIT Hyderabad has their own entrance exam called PGEE.It is conducted about 1 month after GATE.I cleared the written test and there was an interview (total 300 shortlisted for about 100 seats) was asked simple technical questions about databases and OS.

Internships Opportunities :

IIIT Hyderabad doesnt encourage company internship. You have lots of Internship opporunities within the college in various departments. However most people opt for Industry internship so that there is a chance for a Preplacement offer.

Placement Experience :

Has a very good placement record.100% placement since inception.Average Salary is very high (esp for MTech). My guess is that the average is about 12-15 lakhs per annum.Very Placement focussed college. Healthy internal competition but lots of companies sign up.

College Events :

Not many internal events. Some internal Intra-club events. One annual technical event called Felicity. But not many people take it seriously. Lots of internal Programming competitions.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It is costly. About 1lakh per semester including hostel and mess. Not many other expenses. Hyderabad is a cheap city to live.My total expenses were 10,000 per month.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I dont know of any scholarships. Some people can take loan. Since it is private college,no grants or concessions.

Campus Life :

Gender Ratio 1:5, Pretty Good Crowd.No hostel Parties,lan parties,overnight CS nights,Few cultural events,lots of Programming events,light Sports.

Hostel Facilities :

Decent hostel. Like any other hostel.Super Fast Internet. Lots of 'resources' on internet. 5 mess options.

Alumni/Alumna :

Good Senior Junior bonding. Have an alumni network but non functional. Some alumni have start ups and come for hiring. Some alumni send grants. Alumni network is area of improvement.

Exam Structure :

Each course has different structure. Most professors have 20% midterm (best of 2).30% annual written exams. 40% practicals/labs and 10% attendance and assignments.

Faculty :

Very good variety of courses. For CSE, you need to complete x number of bouquet (core) courses and complete a total of y Credits. We have ample freedom about the choice of courses. Most professors are PhD's. Lots of qualified TA's for each course.

Placement Experience:

This is the most good part of this college. Placements are very good here for the CSE and other Circuital branches Placement are very good. Coming to the core branches they are a bit tough like everywhere else I'm from M.tech Environmental Engineering (civil department) Our batch strength is 28 . I'm writing this review on 22nd March, my senior batch (22-24) they also have same strength i.e 28. Out of 28 , 18 have been placed till date with av package of around 6.5 lpa which is a normal package which you can even expect from some good IITs (I'm not talking about bombay, Madras, kgp, Roorkee) . So Placements are really nice here and you will be exposed to various opportunities for your career growth irrespective of your branch. There are also various workshops and clubs which support entrepreneurship.

Placement Experience:

Mostly from 2nd semester of first year, internship opportunities start. Placement opportunities start during 2yr sem 1. Highest package is 28LPA and least is 3LPA Novartis, biocon, genpact , Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Sun Pharma, Aurobindo etc are few companies that provide placement opportunities. Most of the students get placed via campus placements. I decided to sit in placements and secure a job

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am interested in master, i want to gain extra knowledge about computer science. Faculty is sufficient, faculty students ratio is good. Some faculty is not good, I don't want to mention the name here but they are really worst. I can't think that why iiit keep professors like this.

Because IIIT Hyderabad is one of the high colleges in India, the college's placements are also up to par. During our batch, the college's highest placement offer was around 45 LPA, and the average wage offer was around 18 LPA. The college's regular recruiters include Amazon, Adobe, Google, Facebook, Jio, Samsung, Code Nation, Uber, Qualcomm, and TCS. Several of my classmates were also offered pre-placement opportunities during the internship programme.

It is a good course. Yet, Teaching staff could be better with more specialized trending research faculty and Placement department could be better with person from management background heading it.

PGEE is the exam which is require to crack for initial filtering after that some candidates get selected and call for personal interview and this is the final hurdle to get entrance in IIIT.

Placement Experience:

Placement is awesome in our college. All the students got placed and average package is around 12 LPA. There are lot of companies I can't list all but just listing giant one Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Indeed, Uber, Amazon, Walmart. All did offer varying but in range between 20-50 LPA Note that the all figure in INR.
