The campus hostels and the environment is very good. It brings you mental peace. The mess food is also good enough. The professor allow you to work in their labs to gain more experience as a first-year student. Even you can join a Lab

Dislikes

For the First year has to study all five subjects and it becomes pretty hectic after sometime
A first year student studying five subjects will obviously get lower grades as compared to the other years

Course Curriculum Overview :

The pressure of studies is a bit high in the first two years then eventually when you get streamlined with your course it gets easier, every semester they conduct 2 exams the mid sem and the end sem along with a few classtests over making upto the grades. Relative grading is done in most of the courses and the results and cgpa.

Internships Opportunities :

Company pike Sun pharma Cipla offers you internships and also job placements in their companies. Many Professor in the institute might also offer you internships. You can also apply for internship in other companies or under other professors and there is a very high chance to get accepted.

Placement Experience :

Students become eligible to placements from the fourth year here they might get placed into some companies or get selected for a PhD abroad. Most of the placements take place in the fifth year where colleges from abroad come to our campus and give PhD opportunities to students with a very good pay. The placement cell is also very furnished part of the campus and it gives placement to students who want To opt for a job most of the students do not want to do a job after doing their BSMS degree. They would rather like to pursue PhD under a reputed professor in a reputed college abroad.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees is pretty affordable and considering you might get some paid internships it will be pretty easy to manage. The semester fees is only 49,000 It includes all kinds of fees required. Overall what you get for the money you pay is absolutely worth it.

Campus Life :

There are many clubs in the campus. For example dance club, football club, sports, all kinds of sports you can think of inter batch competitions and there are many student social groups which focus on educating the poor children of the society especially Kolkata. There is a society called ek pal, which focuses on upbringing And enrichment of children from the lower zones of society. There are also Many science magazines published by the students on the work of their Professor.

Hostel Facilities :

The mess food is better than most of the colleges and the hostel is pretty neat and clean and The rooms are good enough. There are all kind of sports activities in this campus, including a swimming pool, your offered four meals a day and there are also night canteen which will provide your food throughout the night all day long.

Hostel Fee : INR 9000 per year

Admission :

Anyone with pcb or pcm background in intermediate is eligible through iiser aptitude test . Admissions are pretty smooth and takes just an hour. Campus is very scenic with unique architecture and overall with a good atmosphere.

IIT kharagpur is the best

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am new to this curriculum but I am happy with my decision. Median package of this year is 21 lakhs in this course and faculty are too friendly. Exams are a little on the tougher side. We will have field trips for the research purpose overall it's a very underrated branch And we can try non core if we want to...since there is a lot of free time

Life in KGP

Placement Experience:

The campus placement is offered by CDC. After completing 2 years you get to sit in CDC interviews for internships, all the top companies for example google, BCG, McKinskey, and may others visits the college. And after 7th semesters you get to sit for placements. The highest packages goes around 2Cr. You opt for any profile SDE, data, consulting, product. I plan to get placed in product management after my degree.

Life At IISER Kolkata

Course Curriculum Overview:

It is a 5 years course. Course are quiet tougher than other B.sc colleges but it will be very effective if you are going in research field. It will also introduce you to the basic of research and it will help you in future. A habit of reading research paper are vey common in this couse work and will help in your phd. But if you dont want to pursue in research then it will be less relevant to you.

IIT KHARGPUR- WORTH IT?

Placement Experience:

from 7th semester (for btech students), 9th semester (for dual degree students) students are eligible for campus placements. there are numerous companies which visit the campus...and generally nearly all students get placed during the placement season, but recently there has been recession and companies are not taking less number of the students than they usually do.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was already very interested in economics. My college has a healthy student to teacher ratio. For every 1teacher there is 4 students. Almost of our faculties have phD and master's done. The faculty is very interactive and makes sure the concepts are clear The exams are fairly standard and the exam timings are optimal.
