- Campus environment is pretty good as it is situated in a national park. We have deers and a lot of wildlife.
- We have a lot of facilities for entertainment inside our campus at low cost like restaurants and even movie screenings.
Dislikes
- Monkeys stealing our food all the time. Restaurants and cafes need to be protected from monkeys.
- Hygiene of our hostels should be better.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Our course is pretty organised. We are taught by our professors in an organised manner. We have weekly tutorial tests which help in revision and also have monthly quizzes. So we have Quiz1, Quiz2 and end sems. I ended up choosing mechanical engineering because it was my preference after cs and electrical engineering. Also it is a pretty old branch and has lots of prospects. This branch is pretty useful in real world due to its vast applications in almost every field. I am mostly interested in the robotics field of it. The teaching methods of some professors could be better if they show more enthusiasm. They need to make the class more interesting.
Internships Opportunities :
A lot of companies come to our college for internships. They basically start by the beginning of third year. We give several tests and interviews to get selected. We have opportunities for core, noncore, FMCG, QUANT. For robotics internships not many companies come. We have to apply for an off campus internship.
Placement Experience :
Campus placements are done in 3rd year. Campus placements are very good here. It is NIRF 1 so yeah there are a lot of companies coming and many options here. All companies from all fields come here and recruit. The package is also high. Tower research, bane, jp morgon etc companies have come and recruited people. Average mechanical engineering students get placed at around ?12 lakh per annum. Regarding placements and internships boys are not given any preference at all. There have been cases where companies took 7 people out of which 6 were girls and 1 guy. This seems pretty unfair to me. After passing out from IIT, I plan to go a good IIM college and get an MBA degree.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Our tuition fee per semester is ?1,18,000 and our hostel fees per semester is ?35,000. In my first semester I was a coordinator for MEA(Mechanical engineering association). Now I am a part of the software module of Team Abhiyaan in CFI. I have also taken work under some research projects to work under professors which will help me to learn more about my interests. In the future,I hope to get good internships.
Campus Life :
We have two big annual fests. One technical fest called Shaastra and one cultural fest called Saarang. Both of them are held in January. We have regular sports contests hostel wise and even interIITs. We have a wide range of books in our library from novels to educational books. We have CFI competition teams and clubs.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel facilities are pretty good. Although it could be better if we had something to protect us and our food from monkeys. We have a vending machine in our hostels so we have plenty of facilities in our hostels. Ironing machine should be allowed in our hostels as it is a basic necessity. Facilities provided in my room are a balcony and a fan. We are alloted hostels by our hostel affairs secretary. We get to choose our hostel representatives by voting. They allot us our wings in the hostels. The meal quality of messes could be better. The best mess we have is vindhya north which gives preference to only girls and boys rarely get it and is pretty far from our hostels. We need a better mess for boys also. We need more facilities for boys. Girls get quota for joining IITs, job placements everything. They should not be given this much preference. It is pretty unfair.
Admission :
The admission process was through JoSAA counselling. It has 6 rounds. I had opted for B.tech Chemical in IIT Bombay as it was my dream. My second and third options were IIT delhi and IIT Madras. I chose these three based on NIRF rankings. By the 6th round I landed up with IIT MADRAS mechanical engineering. The application process was pretty smooth and I am pretty satisfied with it. JoSAA's application fees was ?35,000.
