- Faculties are always available to help and guide the students in both academic as well as mental areas.

- Syllabus is a bit extra handle withing the given semester time.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The reason for choosing this course is because it aligned with my UG course and my interests. The class strenght is around 25 and there is a faculty advisor for each specialization. So there is a good faculty:student ratio of 1:25. The faculties are knowledgeable and trained to impart the best possible kniowledge to the students. Examinations: There are two major exams - Mid Semester and End Semester examinations. Apart from these, there are also other assignments and class tests depending upon the faculty. The final grade will be a cumulation of all these. Exams are pretty easy to pass if you attend the classes regularly.
Internships Opportunities :
Some of the companies where students have interned include Qualcomm, TI, Google to name a few. The roles are aligned with our interests ranging from core areas such as hardware engineering, SOC engineer, coding based roles such as software developer, web developer and consultancy and finance based roles.
Placement Experience :
MTech students are eligible for placements from the second year onwards and students can apply for internships after 2nd semester. Some of the companies visiting the campus include Google, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Goldman Sachs to name a few.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees for the entire duration of the course is around 2 lakh for GEN and OBC students are 1.7 lakh. There are various government funded scholarships as well as private funded scholarships such as Reliance scholarship. For MTech students, a stipend of Rs. 12400 will be provided each month.
Campus Life :
There are many fests like Spring Fest, Kshitij, Inter IIT Fest which are conducted throughout the years. The library at IIT KGP is the biggest of all with abundant resources and books available and also a digital library with sources from all over the world. The classroom are well equipped with projectors and speakers. They are very spacious with centralized air conditioned facilities and WiFi is available everywhere. There are various sports activities like tennis, cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, squash, hockey, badmintion, athletics, weight-lifting, swimming etc. Inter IIT Sports Meet is held every year where students represent the institute. There are also various student run clubs in which UG and PG students can be active members and can also take part in the events hosted by them.
Hostel Facilities :
There are various types of rooms like single, double, triple and quadruple occupancy depending upon the hostel to which you are assigned. There are individual cupboard, study tables and cot provided to each student. Drinking water and hot water is available throughout. Housekeeping staffs are also available throughout the day. The mess food is pretty decent and hygienic. The menu is changed depending upon the feedback received from the students each month. The hostel fees are included in the course fees and hostel fees take up most of the course fee. Upon completion of initial payment to confirm your seat at the insitute, your hostel will be alloted few weeks before the start of the course and the rooms will be alloted during the day you move in to the hostel.
Admission :
Eligibility: The admission process was through the Gradutate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) examination. For the specialization I had selected, eligible subject codes inlcude EE and EC. Depending upon the cutoff, the interview call letter will be received and further steps of the admission process will be considered only if we attend the interview. Application Details: The application is done through the COAP website where upon creating an account, you will be given an ID. You have to apply separately for each institute you wish to apply using that ID. The application fees is usually around Rs.1000.
