Campus life is one of the best over here.
Infrastructure of the classrooms, labs, departments are really good.

Some of the hostels are really old & need to be renovated.
In some hostels food quality is not that good & hygienic.

Course Curriculum Overview :

In the Bioscience & Biotechnology department MTech course is designed in such a way that you'll learn life science from the technical point of view. Lab courses are also very carefully designed to train each student to the highest standard. There're 16 professors right now in the department.

Class Size : 23Course Fees : INR 108000 per year

Internships Opportunities :

Internship opportunities are vast in the IIT-KGP. Students also get PPO after internships in the companies. Big giants like Google, Microsoft, BCG, McKinsey, Deloitte, etc. Mostly the profiles are software developer, data analyst, backend developer, credit risk analyst.

Placement Experience :

From placement point of view IIT-KGP is one of the best. If the students prepare accordingly to the placements, mostly they get a job with very good package. Many students go for higher studies like PhD after completing the degree here.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The initial admission plus 1st semester fee was ?61k. For subsequent 3 semesters course fee is around ?46k-48k. Each student get ?12,400 per month as a teaching assistantship. There're lots of opportunities for doing internships in the institute itself & also in industries. Chances of getting placement with a good CTC is very high.

Campus Life :

Campus life is awesome & very much vibrant. There're lots of social & cultural clubs inside the campus. All of them conduct lots of events throughout the year. Spring fest & Kshitij are the most important among them.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostels are available for all the students with lots of facilities over here. There are single, dual & also tripple sharing rooms in different hostels. Generally hostels are known as Halls here. Food quality is quite average in all the hostels.

Hostel Fee : INR 60000 per year

Admission :

Admission is totally based on GATE score. After the declaration of GATE exam result you have to register to the COAP portal & apply to all the IITs seperately. Then you'll be getting the offer according to your GATE score.

For placement the college cell will ask you to register in Superset website. From your superset account you can apply for job and internships in different comapnies. there are more than 20 companies visited for placement this year. arround 80 percent students from my department were placed last year.

Placement Experience:

For master's, campus placement is less compared to bachelor's courses, Company visited less in numbers, but still, 30 - 40 percent of students get placed, some went for Ph.D. in IIT, and some got placed off campus. On-campus placement average package is around 4 lacs.

Remarks:

Before joining Mtech in Computer Science and Data Processing (Mathematics department) in IIT Kharagpur I completed M.Sc in Mathematics from IIT Madras. At that time wanted to go for industry jobs so I decided to pursue M.Tech course related to computer science. Specifically, I am interested in Machine learning and statistical data analysis. That time I had two options either IIT Madras (Mtech in Industrial mathematics and scientific computing) or IIT Kharagpur (Mtech in CSDP). I preferred IIT Kgp and joined it.

Entrance Preview:

I take WBJEE entrance exam for entrance in BE and gate for ME. I score 107 in WBJEE and 2047 in GATE . Jadavpur university(ju)is best institution in west bengal.

Placement Experience:

In JU placements was almost 100% in BE course on my electronics & telecom department 55 were placed out of 58. And some of them got 3 jobs in hand,some of them got 2 jobs.and in ME 17 are placed out of 23.companies are tcs, cts, ibm, infosys, ericsson, adobe, ibm r&d, wipro, capgemini etc.
