Course Curriculum Overview :

course curriculum is a bit hectic , you should have depth knowledge of basics subject taught in your bachelor degree . Also teachers in IIT are very expert in their field but they just provide you overall information but efforts should be done individually . here in IIT 25 to 30 students are there in one course but generally this number is on average 20 for masters student. exams are accourding to whatever taught by teacher and they conduct exams exactly on the given time and date

Class Size : 21Course Fees : INR 107610 per year

Internships Opportunities :

for btech students , mostly software , consultancy and various other company offers internship with good stipend but most student do their internships from PSU and other government plants by faculty recommendation related to their mini project and also here alumni relations works so with ease you can get good internship . Even most of the time faculty or your project guide avail you some best of the industry refernce

Placement Experience :

In mtech , students can sit for placement from 3rd sem onward and for Btech students if they are in final year they are eligible . This year for session 2022-2023 , 1600 plus offer within 12 days of placement and 900 plus internship offers came (info from CDC IIT KGP). AS far as my own course IIE electrical dept. cocern highest package is 49 LPA offered by qualcomm . apart from that intel , IBM , Texas instruments and many more company visited . Due to the layoffs and recession they offer less seat this year but overall it was good

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

FEES are a bit high but there are facilities as well as government provide 12400 financial assistance to each student . But at end a very high package placement fullfill everything. Fees are almost same every year in sense of academics but it may vary slightly due to change in hostel and mess fee

Campus Life :

yes there are lot of things to do here apart from academics . In january , tech fest and spring fest happens in iit kharagpur which is best among all iit . Here in IIT KGP india's best library facilities available with both digital and offline form. all the classes are smart class . lots of inter iit sports event , social and cultural gathering happens here which evolves personality as well as knowledge about diversity of india.

Admission :

for entrance in mtech , we have to give GATE exam for which minimum eligibility is bachelor in respective stream. this exam consist of 100 marks for which cutoff generally goes upto 27 to 35 range . there are benifits for the obc ews sc and st which is mentioned in exam brochure.

Interview Experience :

Yes there was an interviev for the course instrumentation and integrated electronics , which comes under elecrical department , which happen first time this year . they mostly asks very basics and relevant questions regarding the course which they are about to offer you

For placement the college cell will ask you to register in Superset website. From your superset account you can apply for job and internships in different comapnies. there are more than 20 companies visited for placement this year. arround 80 percent students from my department were placed last year.

Placement Experience:

For master's, campus placement is less compared to bachelor's courses, Company visited less in numbers, but still, 30 - 40 percent of students get placed, some went for Ph.D. in IIT, and some got placed off campus. On-campus placement average package is around 4 lacs.

Remarks:

Before joining Mtech in Computer Science and Data Processing (Mathematics department) in IIT Kharagpur I completed M.Sc in Mathematics from IIT Madras. At that time wanted to go for industry jobs so I decided to pursue M.Tech course related to computer science. Specifically, I am interested in Machine learning and statistical data analysis. That time I had two options either IIT Madras (Mtech in Industrial mathematics and scientific computing) or IIT Kharagpur (Mtech in CSDP). I preferred IIT Kgp and joined it.

Entrance Preview:

I take WBJEE entrance exam for entrance in BE and gate for ME. I score 107 in WBJEE and 2047 in GATE . Jadavpur university(ju)is best institution in west bengal.

Placement Experience:

In JU placements was almost 100% in BE course on my electronics & telecom department 55 were placed out of 58. And some of them got 3 jobs in hand,some of them got 2 jobs.and in ME 17 are placed out of 23.companies are tcs, cts, ibm, infosys, ericsson, adobe, ibm r&d, wipro, capgemini etc.
