lifestyle and academics in iit goa

Dislikes

  • food in the mess and exercise class by the faculty
  • weather in college is horrible, always hot and hoter and no acs

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose electrical engineering because I somehow found myself interested in the course throughout my childhood, the student here in our college is very good it's almost 1:8, all of our faculty is very experienced and every one of them has a degree, and master, and most of them have a Ph.D. coming to the exam timings1`, there are two semesters in a year, and each semester last almost 5months.

Internships Opportunities :

internship opportunities are well and good, both from campus and off campus as well, with many national and international companies like Microsoft, Google, Paytm, Oyo, amazon, and Accenture. the college provides good assistance in internships and placements at good positions. and also encourage startups.

Placement Experience :

placements at our college are very good and also internship and career guidance are very good for becoming an entrepreneur like starting a start-up or so. almost 330 companies came for placements last year average package is 18lakhs. percentage of placements is like 98%.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

1lakh per semester as tuition fees, and hostel and mess fee costs around 50k per year, however, there are several scholarship opportunities that are based on multiple criteria like caste reservation, income reservation, and merit cum income based.

Campus Life :

college life is okay in iit goa but they aren't as many cultural activities and fests as in other iits, sports are also much good because we don't have our permanent campus or sports arenas in good condition, there are library, and okay classrooms.

Admission :

so basically to get into an IIT, the procedure is simple, there are jee advanced and jee mains which are conducted on a national level, so if anyone wants to register for the jee mains, they can apply for jee mains in the website of nta.aic.in. there are two phases of jee mains and if you qualify in any one of the phases which depends on the reservation, eligible criteria on merit. so basically you get into a nit through your merit from mains or register in jee advanced and qualify in that exam to get into an IIT.

Placement Experience:

Final students are eligible for placements. Companies such as turtle mint, findem, Nokia, IFB, Samsung, Adani power, HDFC Bank, Tesco, Upskill, ONGC, Jio, and many more. Last year almost everyone got placed. Average package is 10 LPA. This year though placements were not as expected because of economic depression. Even after the placements, lay offs have become common. Hence to cope up with the competition we need to keep upskilling.

Placement Experience:

The placements have been quite decent and have had 100% placements in the past. The average comes to be a bit average but the highest package so far might be above 44LPA. The main branchea company hire students from are CSE ECE and EEE. The number of students getting placed from CSE and ECE are very good and have good salary packages around 10LPA

Once we are into final year, we can sit for the interviews and mind you placements at PCCE are amazing as a considerable number of IT companies come here for hiring. Wipro, Polaris, Happiest Minds, Nazara Technologies to German company Bosch have been consistent with their hiring from PCCE.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement of my college is great. The complanies that recruit from my college are from tech, core and finance. My college is a Tier 1 college so the placements are also in the upper strata. The overall avg package of campus is around 15 lakhs and avg package of CS department reaches 30 lakhs. 90% of the batch gets placed and the rest of the students either go for higher studies or start their own startup.
