Remarks

10+2 with science stream specifically PCB Are required as majors in intermediate. There are 2 methods of admission in this course. One, you can appear for the university entrance exam. You can apply online for the exam through the website gbpuat. in. The entrance is common for several courses offered by universities like BVSc & A.H., BSc Ag, BFSc, and B.Tech (Food Tech). Based on merit based on entrance exam following courses are given to students. The entrance exam consists of question-based on Physics, Chemistry, biology, and mental ability /reasoning. Another, after giving NEET you should opt for COUNSELLING through VCI.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I chose the course because I love the animals and course allows us to serve them. And the course also gives you the tag of being a veterinary doctor. Well, qualified faculty members are in college. Ph.D. and Abroad fellowship professors are appointed. Faculty to student ratio is also good. All the professors are very much concerned about students' performance in BVSc &A.H., following guidelines and syllabus designed by VCI, no semester system is applied, and the course is based on the annual pattern. Three internal exams are taken in a year. The level of this internals is easy to moderate. While at the end of the session practical and external exams are conducted. There are two practice exams for each subject. The same is applied to external examination. But examination papers for externals are set by the external examiner (not by the college itself). Moderate to tough is the level of externals. Externals are of 100 marks each and practical's are of 60 mark each while internal are 40marks each.

Internships Opportunities

4

The veterinary hospital of college itself provides internship opportunities. Also, students are exchanged with other colleges for internship purposes. Internship stipend varies from state to state. UP, RAJASTHAN, TAMIL NADU, MP, and many other states are providing 12 to 20 thousand per month as stipend. In Uttarakhand, the stipend is still low about 3k. Treating animals ( your patient ) is the basic task of a veterinarian. Even you can also opt for teaching in the same field after doing a Ph.D. Also, you can apply for jobs abroad.

Placement Experience

3.5

From the final year i.e. after 4.5 years students are eligible for an internship. The 6-month internship is to be done within the campus and the rest of the 6 months in another organization. Many dairy, poultry, food processing, and wool processing companies visit the college for hiring students. Also, many research fields are available after the course with great scope. Around 5 to 7 lakh per annum packages are easily available after the course which is generally offered by firms visiting the college. Best students based on their academic performances are preferred. Near about 60 to 70 % are generally getting placement. Others generally opt for further studies. AMUL, Ananda dairies, poultry firms, many renowned slaughterhouses, and research organizations are some places where veterinarians get appointed other than clinical practices.

Fees and Financial Aid

The nominal fee structure is there. Around Rs60000 p .a. is the fees which need to be paid for the course. And the course is of 5.5 years. You need to stay in a hostel. Additional charges for the hostel are 3 to 4 thousand per year for accommodation and mess charges are about 40000 per year. For the course fee, you have to deposit it at once. You can apply for many national scholarships based on eligibility. If you're a VCI candidate you can avail of scholarships through ICAR also many scholarships are provided by the university itself. The top three scorers of each professional year are avail with some scholarship amount per month.

Campus Life

4

On the University campus, several fests and events are conducted by different societies at different times chiefly Admya, a university night. The college itself conducts Vet Fest with vet night generally in February. The college has its library with lots of books related to the courses and also the university campus has its central library with many other fields of books. Smart classes are there with smart teaching. Projectors And ICR are installed in each class. Some of the classes are even facilities with air-conditioners. Airy, and we'll ventilate classrooms. The University campus has its own quite large stadium named Stevenson stadium with different facilities related to different games. Many extracurricular activities are conducted on campus for the personality development of the student. Many societies at the college level and even at the university level are united and are run by students. One of the important is the CHETNA student wing.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Mediocre-type rooms are availed by the administration with all basic needs and amenities. Cleanliness and hygiene are maintained in hostels. Greenery is also there. 3 times meal is given to the student which something like ok ok. The meal consists of a balanced diet sort of things and is healthy too with variety. The registration process for hostels is done along with the admission process. Also, hostel charges are affordable

It offers multiple opportunities and a great profession to persue. If one has inclination towards animals and doest compare it with mbbs or other degrees. It is a different profession requiring different mindsets. One can be a veterinary officer of grade one or grade two according to state government.
