MA from IIT

Remarks :

M.A from a technical institute was a difficult decision since I had no idea about the faculty, curriculum or the opportunities. Entrance exam, academics, interview were the criterias in which a student has to excel to secure admission in the course. Admission fee is Rs. 4000. Form filling and submission part is to be done online entirely. The admission process went really smoothly without any problems. Application fee is Rs. 300.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The program is focused on the aspects like understanding intersections between disciplines. Students are trained to understand social and political context around them. Access to journals was of main help for me to study the subjects and the concepts more clearly and with more understanding. Teaching methods mainly consisted of the case studies and some real life examples from which a lot could be learnt.

Placement Experience :

Students belonging to the M.A course have very less placement opportunities here. Most of them go for teaching jobs in further colleges and universities. In general, the highest CTC last year went to Rs. 40 LPA. Participating recruiters were Syntel, Valuefy, Birlasoft, GlobalLogic, Lava, Zia Semiconductor, Adverb, Cipla, Tata Motors, Compro, Anglo Eastern, FreeScale, TCS, Shapoorji Palonji, Henkel, NewGen .

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Rs. 88000 is a normal amount according to me for a course in an IIT. Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship of INR 1000/- P.M to students who are meritorious but come from an economically weak background. An allowance of INR 250 is awarded to all SC/ ST students whose parent's annual income is not more than INR 4,50,000. Some of the other scholarships are Shri Onkar prasad Tandon Scholarship, Amalthea Scholarships, Lalita J Shah & Jayantilal B Shah Scholarship, P.K. Kelkar Scholarship, Sri Temasek@IIT Gandhinagar Scholarship, Satyaram Scholarships, Prof. M H Divekar Scholarship, S.C. Mehrotra’s Scholarship, Chandrakant and Patricia Desai Scholarship.

Campus Life :

Blithchron, the two-day cultural festival, Amalthea is the annual technical summit, Hallabol is an all-night intra-institute sports Festival, Ignite an Intra Institute fest, Jashn, an intra-institute cultural fest, and the list goes on and on while talking about the fun filled events of the campus. I participated/ attended every event and had lots of fun. My confidence also boosted a lot because of these events.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course is not a particular subject specific. It's interdisciplinary in nature. If anybody is interested in pursuing higher education, this is the course. For society and culture, there are not many exams. There are assignments.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is at par, or I'd say even better than what most universities offer in India. It is equipped with very contemporary and up-to-date texts which are very relevant today. The teaching methods vary from individual teachers, but they all share the same enthusiasm and intellectual strength to guide students. Assessment is divided into End-sems (50 marks), Mid-terms (25 marks), Term Paper (15 marks) and an assignment (10 marks). The teachers prepare the students to be critically ready for any sort of questions. They also employ technological aids for their pedagogy. The only improvement I can suggest is that the department needs to organise field trips or funded excursions to academically relevant areas.

Placement Experience:

Placements do come and most likely to take master students, but also if bachelor's want to opt placement they can be it on or off campus. There's are good CTC provided and for a fresher it can be good start in the professional world. The highest package can go to 8 or 9 LPA to average 5LPA. Almost 90% to 95% students get placed. I would also like to sit for placements in coming year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I wanted to pursue a master's degree in economics from a deemed university the faculty is extremely friendly, we can reach them in their cabin to talk on various topics relating to research doubts, and future plans and also discuss off-topic talks, along with being helpful our teachers also used to guide us in the steps to be taken in terms of exams competitive etc In total we had 5 t extremely qualified teachers, the department of Economics is known very well for its unity and non-political environment in the classroom the teachers are Phd holders while some are double Phd holders from imminent universities including from abroad as well and have teaching experience for at least 5-6 yrs or so one of our oldest teachers has 20 yrs + of experience in teaching We were provided with presentations, online book materials etc and notes on each topic we used to read and review and discuss and about them with our teachers in the classroom such that we could understand the topic completely

Course Curriculum Overview:

My interest had always been inclined more towards understanding in depth about 'what is history'. In my bachelor's training, I was quite interested in history lectures and hence took up the research thesis to explore further. This all gave me clarity on what I really would like to pursue further. The class strength is 12. We have our tutor as well as teaching associate with whom group discussions, as well as individual discussions, happen on at regular basis. 1:12 All the faculties allocated have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with master's qualification. End-semester reviews at cept are quite unique as there are no written exams. It is mostly graded on the level of our understanding, how in-depth we have got into research and our final outcome.
