My experience with IIT Gandhinagar

Remarks :

It is trying too hard to be a university rather than focusing on engineering.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar started the bachelor of Technology in computer science and engineering in 2016 and the first batch is yet to graduate. In terms of curriculum, IITGN is not very good. It makes you complete 8 humanities courses which leaves us with no time to pursue other things.

Placement Experience :

First batch is yet to graduate so the average salary is quite low. Mostly students are able to procure internships

College Events :

Amalthea is one of the largest student organised technical summit, where many notable institutes and companies participate. We have several events, talks and an exhibition as a part of amalthea. There are many internal cultural events that are organised.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fees is bit expensive but education loan is provided with any interest rates. There are many scholarships that students can avail. There are additional charges for hostel mess and laundry, which are compulsory if you Live in hostel. Other than that there is exam fees library fees etc.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Education loan is provided without any interest. Also, there is provision of fees waiver for students with lower annual income.

Campus Life :

Campus is awesome, it's an IIT, campus has to be good. It is a premier institute, which provides all the facilities to the students like gym sports etc. Student community is excellent. We organise several activities and fests all throughout the year.

Hostel Facilities :

They are excellent. Most students get single rooms after section year. All rooms are air-conditioned. Student can give their clothes for laundry twice a week. Rooms are cleaned once a week. Washrooms are modern and cleaned daily. Housekeeping staff is excellent.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni network is good and helping. Many have started scholars etc. Of Computer science particularly, the first batch is yet to graduate.

Admission :

After working hard and studying for jee I got admission into IITGN. I studied for three years to get into the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology. All three years were spent at fiitjee, which according to me is the best coaching institute for jee preparation.

Faculty :

All the faculty members of IIT Gandhinagar are very intelligent and hard working. But, IITGN IS SHORT OF FACULTY MEMBERS. There is no faculty to teach courses like architecture or compilers. The courses that are offered are mostly project driven. And your performance in marked by how well you do in the entire semester.

As of last year, most of the students who applied for campus placement got placed but with an average ctc of rs 5 lakh/annum. The companies visited include Adani Port, Adani gas, Torrent Power, and other companies. The highest package was rs 15 lakh. Generally, most students from here prepare for entrances like a gate, toefl, cat, etc for admission in masters.

Not know much about placement but from what I have heard it is average. You have to decide beforehand whether you want to go for placement or a master's after that college provides a special course that is delivered by CD Cell CD stands for career development.

Faculty needs to be focused on. Infrastructure needs to be established asap. Currently we reside in mentor institute SVNIT. So there is some level of socialization as the mentor institute is well established.
