IIT Gandhinagar: A College Was Worthful

Remarks :

I was keenly interested in finding one of the best colleges for my master's degree. One day I was surfing some best colleges in India for a Master of Arts in Society and Culture and found IIT Gandhinagar. It was offering amazing faculty, various extracurricular activities, the best placement opportunities, and a lot more. Thus, I made my application online and paid an application fee of INR 200. I had given an entrance exam to get into the college and scored 89% in that. Due to my good scores in the entrance exam and my amazing CGPA of 8 in bachelors of arts I was able to get admission to one of the best colleges in India. I had not given any such specific entrance but it was mandatory for me to have at least 60% marks in my bachelor's. As I was from the general category so it was not at all easy to get there as the competition was pretty good. But I got admission to the first cut-off list due to my amazing grades. After submitting my application and clearing the entrance exam I was sent an email of confirmation. Just after getting that mail within a few hours, I had confirmed my seat by paying my course fees.

Course Curriculum Overview :

It was a 2-year course program that was divided into 4 semesters. I was able to gain immense knowledge with the help of amazing faculty. I found the curriculum little tough with respect to other colleges like the private institutes and local colleges to cover all the courses. The exam structure varies from subject to a subject for example in all department there are 1 minor test 1 major test Some practicals some assignments and marks from class interaction. All exams are mainly based on the practical problem of daily life by which I can understand them easily and solve them. I had studied topics related to Archaeology, The Politics of the Environment, Foundational Sanskrit, Philosophy, Cognition, psychoanalysis, and a lot more.

Internships Opportunities :

I had worked as an intern but not with some specific company. I was working as a freelance in the cultural team and earned $50 per hour. It was an amazing job, and I just did it because I need to write some sort of experience in my resume.

Placement Experience :

The placement and training cell of the college takes care of the placement and internship. The highest package awarded was 1.7 cr. which was pretty good. As I wanted to study further so I chose to apply for my Ph.D. and did not kook into the placement much. But the university offers various career opportunities and workshops for the students.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

I had paid an annual fee of INR 45,000. This fee does not include any exam fees as there was no such thing. It had included some other fees related to books, library fees, placement fees, and others. The fees structure was well defined and it was easy to pay well. The university had its own portal through which fees can be paid easily.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college provided numerous scholarships to economically weak students and academically brilliant students. Few I remember were scholarships for Academic Excellence, scholarships for Excellence in Sports and Games, and more It also offers various financial aid programs. There were few criteria to clear the scholarship and proof for the same was required.

Campus Life :

The campus area was huge as it was spread over 400 acres. It offered a healthy fitness regime and has various sports facilities which include a badminton court, tennis court, basketball court, football and cricket grounds, and a fully-equipped gymnasium. IITG is the only academic institution to be declared as ‘Eat Right Campus by the FSSAI. All the canteens and eateries on the campus have been given a 5-star rating by the Food Corporation. This includes the special tea store that serves a variety of hot and cold beverages, the AMUL store specializing in dairy products, Nutririch which caters to a variety of juices and milkshakes, and all the grocery stores on the campus. Events such as Photography club, Drama club, Dance club, Music club, literary club, Technology club, and Film Making club were also conducted by the respective clubs. Due to these amazing facilities and the best education, my campus life has been amazing.

Hostel Facilities :

I used to live in Haryana and for my further studies, I went to Gandhinagar. Thus, I chose to stay at a hostel but I was slate to apply for the same and did not get it. Then I lived in a rented apartment and paid INR 4000 which had included meals. It was sort of PG but there were fewer restrictions on me. My living experience there was pretty good and I had quite liked the environment there.

Admission :

the admission for the MA program at IIT Gandhinagar is based on the entrance exam and interview. I was invited for the written test and interview based on the academic records. I had given entrance first and called for the interview. During the interview, I was asked just the basic questions related to my bachelor's and the knowledge about that according to practical life.

Faculty :

My faculty had been amazing and very helpful. They used to apply different methods of teaching during the class which made out sessions interesting. They used to conduct regular classes so that not even a single topic could be missed out. even they had used the latest technology for teaching which helped me to gain practical knowledge about the subject in a unique manner.

Interview Experience :

My interview experience was pretty good. Initially, I was not comfortable as there were 5 members sitting there and all of them were extremely educated. But as time passed I began to feel comfortable. There were no such tough questions asked from me and the interview went well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course is not a particular subject specific. It's interdisciplinary in nature. If anybody is interested in pursuing higher education, this is the course. For society and culture, there are not many exams. There are assignments.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is at par, or I'd say even better than what most universities offer in India. It is equipped with very contemporary and up-to-date texts which are very relevant today. The teaching methods vary from individual teachers, but they all share the same enthusiasm and intellectual strength to guide students. Assessment is divided into End-sems (50 marks), Mid-terms (25 marks), Term Paper (15 marks) and an assignment (10 marks). The teachers prepare the students to be critically ready for any sort of questions. They also employ technological aids for their pedagogy. The only improvement I can suggest is that the department needs to organise field trips or funded excursions to academically relevant areas.

Placement Experience:

Placements do come and most likely to take master students, but also if bachelor's want to opt placement they can be it on or off campus. There's are good CTC provided and for a fresher it can be good start in the professional world. The highest package can go to 8 or 9 LPA to average 5LPA. Almost 90% to 95% students get placed. I would also like to sit for placements in coming year.

I wanted to pursue a master's degree in economics from a deemed university the faculty is extremely friendly, we can reach them in their cabin to talk on various topics relating to research doubts, and future plans and also discuss off-topic talks, along with being helpful our teachers also used to guide us in the steps to be taken in terms of exams competitive etc In total we had 5 t extremely qualified teachers, the department of Economics is known very well for its unity and non-political environment in the classroom the teachers are Phd holders while some are double Phd holders from imminent universities including from abroad as well and have teaching experience for at least 5-6 yrs or so one of our oldest teachers has 20 yrs + of experience in teaching We were provided with presentations, online book materials etc and notes on each topic we used to read and review and discuss and about them with our teachers in the classroom such that we could understand the topic completely

Course Curriculum Overview:

My interest had always been inclined more towards understanding in depth about 'what is history'. In my bachelor's training, I was quite interested in history lectures and hence took up the research thesis to explore further. This all gave me clarity on what I really would like to pursue further. The class strength is 12. We have our tutor as well as teaching associate with whom group discussions, as well as individual discussions, happen on at regular basis. 1:12 All the faculties allocated have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with master's qualification. End-semester reviews at cept are quite unique as there are no written exams. It is mostly graded on the level of our understanding, how in-depth we have got into research and our final outcome.
