Remarks :
Among old IITs, this one offered several options of courses for post-graduation as well as for the research also. For me also it seemed like the best option for pursuing my M.Tech degree as it offers every course with good infrastructure. The eligibility criteria for this course were B.E or B.Tech degree in Chemical engineering, Biotechnology, Industrial engineering, and so on. I did my graduation from Biotechnology and my GATE score was also good. The admission was conducted based on the combined score of GATE as well as the score of personal interview.
Course Curriculum Overview :
This course is trained the professionals who are being called the clinical engineers, who assure safety during the use of any technology in hospitals or ensure the effective use of technology. It’s a full-time course for two years and these two years are divided into four semesters. With the Mandatory courses, we also studied the elective courses. In the second semester, we got practical exposure as we did a clinical attachment program at CMC Vellore. In the third semester, we did an internship. In the January to June semester i.e in the last semester we did the project work with the help of our excellent faculty member.
Placement Experience :
The highest salary package offered was Rs.45 LPA and average salaries of Rs.16 LPA were offered in our final placement program. We were offered the job opportunity mainly from the tech-based company, Research and development departments, and tech-based start-ups. We received offers from medical companies, hospitals, and some MNCs like IBM, Google, Tata, Apple, BCG, etc.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I paid total tuition fees around Rs.1,00,000 and total year-wise fees I paid 2,00,000. Both the privately provided as well as govt. approved scholarships schemes were available for us. Although I’m not sure whether there is any scholarship is available for PG students or not. I did not apply for any scholarship scheme.
Campus Life :
Our campus had several facilities such as the central library, social clubs, associations, sports facilities, and hostel facility also. I was a member of the Bengali society ‘Diganto’ and also an active participant of ‘Sangam’. In the hostel zone, we have an open-air theatre wherein every weekend we used to see films and shows arranged by the ‘Film club’. The ‘Ramanujan’block was also one of the special places on our campus.’ BioFest’ was our departmental fest. ‘Shaastra’ was our tech fest and ‘Saarang’ was the music fest of our campus.
